I've been in a painting funk, lately, but I'd had time to do some modeling. Here are the pictures of my vanquisher that I promised. I chopped off the existing barrel just past middle part, and then extended it with some plasticard tubing. I used some tubing that was just big enough to fit inside the old barrel, then attached the baffle to the end. Here is a close up of the barrel. Since the barrel looked too plain for me, I added two thin strips of plasti-card, and four rivets on either end. I think it makes the barrel looked more reinforced. While this tank has Heavy Bolter sponsons, I do have two other tanks that don't, and I plan to swap turrets once everything is painted.

That's a sweet looking Vanquisher barrel conversion, Pax Urbis! I'm looking forward to seeing it painted up.

Love the conversion works. Especially the commissars. Guillie suit squad is awesome too.

Thanks for comments! I think converting is the best part of this hobby, followed by painting, and maybe playing some games, followed by actually winning one or two. I bought a box of fantasy flagellants about a month ago, and put them together to be my Psyker Battle Squad. I've only used them in a couple battles so far, and they have not had much success. I chalk that up to bad dice, and deployment on my part. If you look closely, all of my Psyker have bells that they are ringing, wielding, or holding. The reason for that is due to my company banner, which you can see on the first post in this blog. Bells are often rung out to "ward off evil", and with this squad, bells are used to build up the psychic energy to lower the enemy's leadership enough to make them run away, thus "warding evil off". Here are some close-ups showing off the bells. Of course, no PSB is complete without and overseer, and thanks to Mkoll for his Commissar Cadet idea, I converted one. I took the Command torso with medals, and shaved them offf. I used a Commissar arm for the left, and a Chimera Commander arm for the right with the bolt pistol removed and a las pistol added. A epaulet was sculpted out of greenstuff for the right shoulder. He is also on Catachan IG legs. I've ordered some pistols in holsters to complete the models, and they should be here soon.

Super cool. I just decided to get flagellants yesterday to build a Psyker Battle Squad. I plan on using the Pig Iron "Valhallan" heads and zombie arms for the emaciated look. I may go the same route with a Commisar Cadet too... thanks for the inspiration!
P.S. Great Vanq!

You are welcome! I just added las pistols in holsters to the squad this night. Looks pretty good I think. And now... onto more important things. Muuuuuhhhahahahaaaaa,,,,,, I have acquired my first super heavy, for cheap no less, and its painted to boot! A bonus, I must say. Let me introduce to you the newest and arguably baddest member of the 228th Cadian Rifles: the Baneblade tank His August PresenceNow, I kinda like the paint scheme, and it would be easiest for me to touch it up, and add some of the trademarks of the vehicles of the 228th Cadian Rifles (all muzzles of battle cannons, auto cannons, and Las cannons are painted olive) or paint it grey like all of my other tanks... Decisions, decisions.

I think you could probably get away with just touching it up/altering the existing scheme to make it fit with the other tanks in your army. It could potentially save you quite a bit of time (depending how much you want to redo).
Welcome to the Baneblade Owners Club (hmmm maybe I should actually start a Baneblade Owners Club before trying to induct people...)

I second this idea, and petition for admittance. Admittance, approved.I painted a couple more models yesterday and today, and I am pleased with the results. Here is my new and improved Sargent August, my Sgt Bastonne count-as, painted up and ready to fight. I do see an area that I will need to touch up on the base. I've also painted my Commissar twins, Commissar Rikard and Commissar Karlsun. Similar in appearance, the are mirror images of one another. Rikard is right handed, Karlsun is left. They are never in the same squad, but I may do that in a blob squad, just for fluff purposes. Here is a front/back view of Commissar Rikard... ... and a front/back of Commissar Karlsun. I may have to add some more highlights to his face, and touch up his sleeve.

More painting progress... If you scroll up, you can see the conversions I had done for Commissar Terrence and my count-as Commander Chenkov, Major Lucias Maxwell. I just finished painting them last night. Here is Commissar Terrence, with Power weapon and Bolt Pistol. I think he is probably one of my favorites of the 7 Commissars I have, just due to the plasti-card work on his coat belt, and the hand swaps. They turned out MUCH better than I could have hoped. A close-up of his belt... And finally, Major Lucias Maxwell, the Butcher of Bargost V. I added some bits of a old couch stuffing that provides a realistic smoke rising from the cigar he is chomping. Worked much better than the cotton from a Q-Tip. A closer look at the cigar smoke.... Please feel free to tell me what you think. I like constructive feedback, both good and bad. Fire away!

I've always like that old Catachan model - and you've done a really good job with it - bravo!
hmmm I wonder if that model is still available from GW... I've been looking for a Ctachan commander model...
The commissars are also brilliant - it's really satisfying, both to do and see, when two of the same model can be converted to look like different models.

You can find that model on Bob B Boots, along with other OOP metal models. There are 9 left. www.bobnbootzmodels.co.uk/acatalog/Catachan_Models.html

This next model was something I did for fun. I had acquired a Catachan tank rider, and wanted to use him somehow. I also had a bit of a stick that had an interesting shape, and the right size for a base. After snapping off about have of the stick, I glued the two together. I present "Man at Rest". The paint seems a bit thick, and the base could use some work. But overall I am pleased with the result. I'll probably create a larger base and use him as an objective. Or, he could still end up joining a squad.

Your work is amazing. Very inspiring stuff. I might have missed it in the forum here, but how did you come up with the nomenclature for your armies? Ever spend some time in PA? The 228th and the 728th are units in the PA National Guard here.

Cheers, Dedli93! No, I was born in WI and now live in the Twin Cities, MN (Minneapolis / St. Paul). The 228th is from my birthday... 02/28. Since I have acquired what amounts to a platoon of Catachans recently, I thinking of giving them the Catachan 1971st "Badgers".
And if you do your math, now you know how old I am as well.
