Another conversion to add to my growing pile of unpainted models. This one is a Company Commander with a holstered pistol of some sort. The largness of the pistol could suggest a plasma pistol, or a bolt pistol.

I just needed a model that I could use when I run a CCS bare boned to save points. The helmet off and the listening intently to the headset seems to indicate news received on the battlefield.



An easy conversion, especially after I got two Basilisks tanks that I have added to my Army (pics to come). I just cut the legs off at the appropriate height, and glued them on. There is an area on the right shoulder that I will need to sculpt, a void of some sort. This occurred when I cut away the flash in between the arm and the bicep.

I have not one but two squadrons of new vehicles to show for this post! I'll be using them in a local GT called Dark Star on St. Patty's Day weekend.

The first is my Basilisks. I have two right now, and they have been amazing. My only critique of the kit is that you only have a heavy Flamer as a hull weapon (I prefer Heavy Bolters), and the ladder keeps snapping.



I did not glue my carriage into the Chimera chassis. This allows me to remove the gun if destroyed, or convert later if needed.



Finally, here is the pair I use currently. They make excellent Warlord killers with the ability to center a blast on target.



I've also completed a pair of Hellhounds. They are older models, but they check out. These were part of my haul two years ago when I turned 40, so these are heavy 3rd edition metal models.



Running in a squadron improves both survivability, as well has firepower. A single Hellhound is too easily killed.

(Tournament Battle Reports - NOTE: My opponents lists have been generalized, so most will be incomplete. I've just included the hightlights of the lists)

Game One - Dawn of War deployment. Necron Scarab Farm with Spiders and Scarabs, with some Wraiths, The Traveller, and assorted other gribblies. I got tabled this game. My tactical error: I should have let him go first, to find out where his scarbs and spiders would be, then deploy the exact opposite to keep his scarabs away from me. LOSS

Game Two - Hammer and Anvil deployment, Relic - Black Templars. Some tac marines, a dreadnought, two rhinos, 10 terminators, command squad, champ, two storm ravens. My tactical error: I was kicking his teeth in the whole game with my artillery, but I stayed back with my blob squad instead of pushing forward, which allowed his company command squad and troops to take the relic in the last turn and win. LOSS

Game Three - Vanguard deployment, kill points. Tau with Chaos Space Marine Allies, x2 Broadside teams, x3 crises suits, fire warriors, heldrake, demon prince, chaos space marine squad, Bastion. My tactical error - I failed to include a commissar in my troops and they fled after the heldrake vector striked them. I ran 10 inches, then ran off the board. I could not recover after that.

Game Four - Hammer and Anvil, relic - DE Venom/Raider spam, with x2 Scourges on foot. My tactical error: None, really. I got the side I wanted, I was going first. I did not blob up. I went with individual squads to maximize the amount of shots against his paper airplanes. He stole the initiative on me, and his venom ate my troops up, and destroyed my tanks. LOSS

Game Five - Dawn of War, Kill Opponent HQ/Get yours to the center of the board. GK with x3 Psyflemen, 3 purifier squads that combat squaded, x3 rhinos, Castallen Crowe, Vindicare Assassin. I went first, deployed first.



My blob squad got chewed up pretty good at first, but once he pressed forward my artillery won me the game. (Custom template with my nickname of Puck made for my birthday by my brother-in-law at Applied Perspective LLC)


He was nearly tabled by turn four...


... leaving just Castellen Crowe and my platoon command to face off.


I did not slay the Warlord this game, but I did win.


Next tournament, Waaagh!Fest in St. Cloud MN, 2000 points - June 22nd

Looks like fun. The only thing I would suggest changing in your list is the load out of the platoon, plasma gun is quite expensive on a BS3 guardsman, and the PCS should get some weapons as they are naked. Keep painting your army, I look forward to your progress!

I use plasma as it works well with troops, being rapid fire and 24" range. It also allows me the flexibility of dealing with high toughness creatures with its low AP. They do tend to explode, but that's part of the fun.

I agree with giving the platoon command some weapons, but I try to use them as a late game Linebreaker unit, either getting out of the Vendetta or Grav-chut inserting. But thanks for the suggestion!

My next tournament will be 2000 points. I am thinking of dropping the Hell Hounds (they were underwhelming and died easily), and dropping the Hydras. I have decent anti-air as is, with Vendettas and giving orders to the troops, so we will see.

That gives me 540 to play with. Lots of options... another platoon, some Leman Russ, more artillery... etc. Suggestions?

With 500 points you can add another four Basilisks. Why would you consider anything else?
