First of all let me explain myself. I am not jumping on the Blood Angel bandwagon. If I wanted to do that it would have been six months ago, not now. Plus, I am not going to use a razorspam/predspam list at all. Nope! I am really tired of using mech heavy list so I want something that looks and plays totally different. Don't get me wrong, I love my mech/hybrid Guard army. Fun to play and also really powerful. However I am fed up with having to carry 3 cases and having to set up 10+ vehicles and all the infantry. Also shooting with all these units is very time consuming. I want a new army that I can use for friendly, fast games and also that I could take to a tournament for a laugh. A Blood Angel jumper list seems ideal for this. This is pretty much what I want to use for my 1750 points list: Librarian, Jump Pack, The Blood Lance, Shield of Sanguinius Honour Guard, Jumpacks. 4 meltagun 2 x Sanguinary Priest, Jumpack, Lightning Claw 5 Sanguinary Guard, Power Fist, 2 Infernus Pistols 2 x 10 Assault Marines, 2 Meltagun, Sergeant (Power Fist) 2 x 5 Vanguard Veterans, Jumpacks, 2 Storm Shield, Power Fist + Storm Shield, Sergeant (PW + Storm Shield) So this is the first squad I manage to paint completely, the Vanguard Veterans: Hope you guys like 'em!

Those are brilliantly done, loving the shields... are they fantasy shields?
How do you get the bright white background?

I like the gold, it's much better than the stuff usually seen on BA, keep it up Paradill

Nice painting. I like the blended sword and the blue gems.
I must say, at first glance, I thought that the guy in pic 3 was standing over a freshly killed seal...
Don't worry about the whole "bandwagon" thing, it really is a load of nonsense. Just do what you want. The kind of person who considers something a "bandwagon" or tries to disparage someone for it is not really worth paying attention to. The same with people who base their army decisions on what other people may think of them.
Within limits of course, you probably should base some decisions on what others will think. Like public nudity.

@ Walrus: Cheers! Yes, the shields are from the Vampire Counts range. I think they added this slightly vampiresque flavour the BA were lacking lately. I shot my pictures in a lightbox and adjusted the exposure accordingly, that's how I got that white background. I am not sure how bright the picture are overall since I have a very bad reference monitor (10'' netbook screen...). @paradil: I painted the gold using a Chainmail basecoat and then various washes of Griffon Sepia and Ogryn Flesh. I don't like gold paints too much. Trickstick: Haha, it's an unfortunate angle indeed. But there would be blood spatters all over if this was a real baby seal, be sure of that. As for what other people thing I don't really care to be honest. Just a little introduction for my BA, that's all.

You sir, have very fine painting skills indeed - from the blending to the crispness of the colours and the neatness of it all. Very impressive.
I think we all want to see more of this project.

I've always thought that the way BA are depicted by GW, all that red with tacky, tacky gold helms and nippled torso's was fairly horrific. The gold effect you've created adds a depth and regality that is complemented by the crimson of the armour, it's this effect that GW should have been going for IMHO.

I like the minis mate not too sure on the list though...lose the Combat shields on the VV (although it would ruin your lovely minis so dont do this lol) and dont use San Guard....get another Ass Sqd instead

@ Gabriel Lupus: Cheers mate. It's all because I am using an airbrush really not some kind of skill at blending or anything. I will use this thread as a Plog and update it when I got new minis ready I don't want to bore people here with my WIPs but I will update it when squads are completed. @ Paradill : Well I didn't want my guys to be completery red with bling bling gold as I too think it's an eyesore. I tried to paint the miniatures a little bit darker that's why I added all the weathering and battle damage. @ psycho: I think it is a solid list but I haven't tested it yet so I can't say for sure. The VV have SS so they can go toe to toe with units like Assault Terminators or MC. Sanguinary Guard is there to give a bit more punch to Close Combat when needed (and the 2 infernus pistols can be handy).

You are one of the best painters on this board. These models are great, if the rest of your army is even half this good it will be one of the best BA armies I have ever seen.

These minis look fantastic, Antipope! My only nitpick is that their shoulder pad trim isn't black. I'm an old school Blood Angels collector, from back when that was the standard paint scheme. Still your stuff looks great.

@ Dedrier: Thanks mate. I will try to keep the rest of the models on the same quality of painting. Probably will do a bit less on the assault marines since they have fewer details to paint but the principles will be pretty much the same.
@ Trooper 1974: Cheers! Well I've only started recently painting BA so I didn't really knew much about them. I'm trying to keep the colour scheme, insignias, squad markings etc. of the models as close to the latest codex as possible. That's my only source really and I try to keep true to it.

Awesome paint job - the red is very crisp and bright. A white undercoat, it seems. Also great battle damage. With no vehicles it'll be very easy to carry your army around.

Yeah, the 'Eavy Metal staff seem to have gotten lazy somewhere between third and fourth edition, and dropped the black trim on the Blood Angels' shoulder pads. If you can find a second or third edition BA codex, you can see how they were painted in the "old" days. Still, your stuff looks great!

The snow effect is just brilliant. Outstanding work, as always. The burned look on the jump pack is a good little idea; they look really used and worn.

Thanks guys! Red isn't that hard to paint if you can use an airbrush to good effect The snow effect is just brilliant. Outstanding work, as always. The burned look on the jump pack is a good little idea; they look really used and worn. Cheers Chem! I mixed rubbing alchohol this time instead of water with snow effects and pva and the mixture turned out quite thick and sticky. It turned out quite well though so it's okay The soot on the jumpack is really easy to do with some black pigment powder and a makeup applicator
