Thanks everyone although he's hardly perfect. I honestly haven't enjoyed painting this. I don't know why, but it felt more of a chore than something fun to paint. I'm glad I've done it, but sadly......I don't think I'd ever choose to paint another. I think the problem is that FW figures are just so detailed and so fine, that compared to GW stuff they just don't look the same no matter how hard you try. Their vehicles are great, it just seems to be the individual figures that are strange. Cosmic Cosmic, I think maybe the issue is that you are used to layering your cadian models. ( excellent by the way) And indeed the FW models do have so much detail that layering is possible but in a very different way. So I do understand what you say, but still would like to say that you have done a good job with this guy.

Righto chaps! I have returned!
Just letting you all know that tomorrow I'll be updating this thread again as I may have my first proper game in a couple of weeks! Really excited about it, and it's kicked me into finishing all the left over things that I never completed.
So I've just undercoated 4 FW servo-skulls, 2 veterans with shotguns, and a missile launcher team. I have also ordered a Finecast Lord Commissar! So in the next few weeks I'll be busy busy busy painting for this army again, just keep an eye out!

You know, the standard Techpriest (Preferbly with the straight-edged axe) is one of the models that I think are better looking than the FW version. That said, excellent paintjob as usual.

egon: Hmmm I'm not so sure, I'm really not a fan of the GW techpriests. But each to their own! @peter and Teku: Cheers lads I've been busy on the Servo-skull today so heres the first one, about 80% complete.... And here's everything that I've got left to do so far.... Cosmic

The standard techpriest has a cooler servo harness and one of the few weapons that isn't actually over-sized. Also a more dynamic pose. The details aren't as good though.
The skull looks nice. Shows you what happens if you don't brush your teeth. *G*

GW always try to get me to do them but they're all rulebook worms and never want to have fun playing :/ One day I'll take the drop and do it... are you working on an army list or do you already have a lind up? I believe we are, yup. I'm not sure entirely at the moment but we'll see, I'd like my first trial game to be fun at least! My codex just came through the door so once I've updated this I'm going to go an work a list and then post it up later maybe! Anyway, another box of goodies came through the door about 10 minutes ago. The Codex, some sheets of Plasticard and my Finecast Lord Commissar.... Now I must be one of the lucky few, because there are no faults whatsoever with the cast of the Commissar. No airbubbles at all, and no bent pieces! He's just been sprayed black and then in an hour or two I'll start working on him. Cosmic

Well despite feeling rough all day, I carried on and got painting. I'm so happy with how he's turning out, it's a great little model and he's so fun to paint. I'm going to redo the Bolt Pistol though, and also I've cocked the sword blade up, so I've ordered a couple of different types of swords to try and replace this one. He's about 70% done, so hopefully I'll get more done tonight. Hope you like him. Cosmic

I agree, I enjoyed painting mine because he's a nice open model and provided you get a good cast the finecast resin is really durable. Of course yours is 10 leagues above mine but there we go! looking good mate. What's wrong with the blade though?! The same (ish) blade is on the metal Schaffer model, but looking at them, the Sarge sword from the Catachan box would be a similar length and style and not be bad (also: plastic), but would would look a bit more rough fighter and if you want a clean 'Imperial' type look then cutting a Space Marine powersword off at the hilt might work better.

Thanks optimat . As for the sword, I accidently took a chunk out of the blade so it looks horrible. Hopefully the replacement ones will suffice

So easily done with that stuff. With a sharp blade it's like the same consistency as cheese.

Sweet paint job on that model. I think I can see where the blade was cut. You'll probably have to drill/ pin the new blade in place.

Really nice one cosmic!!
Have you tought about repairing the blade with greenstuff? It's worth the shot, it is a nice blade after all.
