Does anyone know when (approximately) this 6th edition might be coming in?..
I recall reading something about a possible 2 more codex's being released then the 6th ed coming out (maybe necrons was one of those and possibly the other being black templars.. which kinda scares me a bit..)
- maybe I'm being lazy and the information was already written but i can't remember reading it -

For that matter will 6th Ed begin with a new box set replacing AoBR?

For that matter will 6th Ed begin with a new box set replacing AoBR? Most likely as they did that with 8th in fantasy with skaven and high elves instead of goblins vs dwarfs and i remember there being a battle with space marines vs nids starter set when i started in 7th. So basically i think there will be a new starter set and i'm guessing necrons this time as the last two were nids and orks so now they're out of the running.

Nah nothing tolling or sarcastic about my post, I haven't played 40k for 15 years, last edition I remember was the release of the metal guard in the second edition I think, I honestly though we were on the forth, and now you guys are talking about the sixth. no wonder I'm having trouble keeping up... I need lessons asap

If they make a 6th edition there will be a new starter box. It has the rules in it, and its what the company recommends to new players so I doubt that will change dramatically. But the forces inside have classically been an elite force (Marines as far back as I can remember) and a horde force. Weather thats Orcs, Nids, or footy Eldar. Yet again, this formula may change but I would be surprised if they veer away from a game with armored superhumans vs. hordes of crazy aliens.

Does any one have any up-to-date info onn what codex will be next, and what codice are likely to be coming out?
I think Black Templars, Dark Angels, Sisters of Battle, Eldar, Tau and Chaos Space Marines may have been mentioned ealier in the thread, but was wondering if anyone has heard anything new since Necrons got released.
and any word on the ETA of 6th ed would be cool too!
- as for whats in the 6th ed box, I don't think necrons as its too close to the release of the new models to be giving them away on a discount box deal... but if 6th ed doesn't come out for ages then maybe..

That box would sell like candy in the pedo district if it were crons and DE. But we all know it's going to be marines. Incidentally, that's also the next codex, I'm sure.

Age of Apostasy: Sisters vs Templars would be a cool theme for 6th Ed
Or maybe something Damocles themed with Tau and Marines in the box.
Do we have a rumours thread for the Fantasy, Army Book schedule?

I think Black Templars, Dark Angels, Sisters of Battle, Eldar, Tau and Chaos Space Marines may have been mentioned ealier in the thread, but was wondering if anyone has heard anything new since Necrons got released. Black Templars are next from everything I hear, with Tau and CSM getting updates some time next year. Sisters already got a "codex", and might be getting a wave of releases next January, but that rumor might just be from people who can't believe GW would shaft Sisters players as badly as they did. The last date I heard for 6th Ed is march. And Req is right, whatever the new box is, it will almost certainly include Marines as one faction, since they make up about half the armies in 40k in one flavor or another. Reds

If it means anything, the megaforces advertised for Christmas this year are marines and Dark Eldar. I don't know whether these are the forces that will appear in the boxed game, but it would make sense.

I think I'm the only person on this forum who doesn't give two hoots about SoB.
I'd quite like to see Chaos and Tau or something in the starter box.

i have heard a rumour, through a friend, who knows the girlfriend of a manager at GW... so don't count on it much... apparently, eldar will be a new codex that gets released with the 6th edition.
dunno when that is though!

I heard tau was next, but don't look too much into that. I'd like to see IG in the next box set, but we all know it will be space marines and orks/DE. Personally, I think they should have a number of sets to cater for all players, so a SM/orks set, IG/CSM, Eldar/Tau etc etc..
That way, as a IG player, I won't have to ebay half the set...

An educated guess would lead me to believe this as there release schedule. Not that it will effect me haven't bought an item from games workshop ever since the release of codex Imperial Guard.
Codex BT Codex Tau Codex Dark Angles (Or paste another Marine army here) Codex Chaos Legions or Eldar (Paste Marine codex Here) Codex Eldar or Chaos Legions
The reason from my guessing, previous releases.
Codex Space Marines Codex Imperial Guard Codex Space Wolves Codex Tyranids Codex Blood Angles Codex Dark Elder Codex Gray Knights Codex Necrons
Did I miss any?

The Orks got a codex in 2008. It might not be the best one around, seems to contain a number of 'Ork aspects' and lack any fun clans business, but it's still a reasonably good codex.
They certainly wont get a codex before Tau, BT, Eldar, DA, Chaos and Space Marines. That's at the very least. (Only Space Marines because they'll get a new dex almost as soon as 6th comes out).

You can still model a clan army with the Ork Codex though. You just don't need to pigeonhole yourself to do it.

From what has happened in the past with release dates, I imagine 6th ed would be out next summer. If not, expect some knid of summer campaign with new kits etc (like 'spearhead' 'Battlemissions' 'Cities Of Death' etc)

I'm thinking it's going to be marines vs. dark eldar for the forces. They won't do imperial guard, because it takes a lot of models to have a high point army(unless you do vehicles), or even a legal one, where as with marines ,you need 11 models to have a legal army. Tau and BT need new codexes before everyone, and I thought I heard a long time ago they were going to update every codex before 6th edition(this probably changed though).

I hope that the new box set is Guard Vs Tau, I know that this won't happen now. I'm betting on it being Dark angels vs Eldar, cause it needs SM and a xenos (I don't think GW are going to do Chaos Vs Imperial)

^ Hmm well I'm not sure, apparently 6th Ed will be a more Chaos Vs Everyone Else perspective, so it could well be Traitor Vs Loyalist. And everyone is going batnuts for Pre-Heresy stuff at the moment, it'd tie in nicely with that

I reckon that it would be a good time to launch a spin off of 40K, during the great crusade, using the standard 40k rules but like an expansion, like apocalypse. That would be cool.
