Beastmen as penal legionaries would be epic. The vendetta is completely awesome. You should go and play in tournaments, You would always win because people would be so blown away with the shear Awepimmazingness of your stuff (mix of awesome, epic and amazing, none of the words are good enough on their own )

decided to finish my scratchbuilt manticore today... here it is! IMO i think it looks a little basic.... but im out of ideas to do with it for the moment... but for what it is, i think it will do for the time being anyway... i based it on the US army MLRS mobile launcher tried out some vallejo and mig pigments weathering powder recently... for the missle exhausts on the rear, i used 'carbon black'... i can see how the pigments are good, but i feel i need alot more practice using them... building up layers of carbon is easy, but blending it in natuarally to the normal bodywork colour is very difficult and frankly beyond my skills atm...i ender up making the whole model dirty with my grubby hands...

Hey Ashot. To be honest I think it looks too wide, by a lot actual. I would cut "all of the black" away to make it look more realistic. Like this (behold my grand paint skills): Hope it helps. Ps. Can we maybe get a picture together with a chimera?

yeah i see what you mean... although to be honest... it is exactly the same width of a chimera... the manticores track width is about 7mm wider, but because of the chimeras side armour it actually works out at exactly the same width... its hard to tell with my camera thought... my manticore is far longer though, although this does not change the vehicle tactically at all... if it were wider then its chance of being hit from the from could be increased. the vehicle is made from layers of solid 5mm foamalux glued together and is fully solid and quite heavy... about the only thing thats going to cut this in half is an angle grinder or a bandsaw... both of which im not going to use lol... on another note... started building my stormlord tonight... goddam theres alot of plastic here...

Not so hard actually, We can just count the grids on your cutting board really loving that manticore!! So much better than the mini- scuds gw made of them. It really should have been more wihrlwind like.

I like the MLRS Manticore and I don't think it's to big. One thing that could be done better is to add some details though. Right now it's kinda... dull. Give a few more headlights, maybe windshield wipers or hooks for equipment. Maybe a towing cable. Fuel cans perhaps? Oh, one thing I would definatly add, a door for entering the vehicle, either that or some kind of ladder so that you could actually get to the top hatch. BTW, love those beastman. They have that whole "bare bottom, clothes on top, Donald Duck"-style.

Shadowswords/ stormlord magnetising is really difficult... considering they use the same parts turned upside down to make the different configurations... anyway about 75% made right now... just shaving off those damm aquillas and taking of most of the rivits

I like the change! I was never a big fan of the GW Manticore. I thought it looked too top heavy

Damn nice ninja, love to see a convoy pic of all those vehicles. The GW manticore is too futuristic and childish in my opinion. Just finished my Shadowsword after gluing my fingers to my ballsack and permanently sealing my left eyelid

@ EGON... still thinking of stuff to put on it... but am really thinking of adding camouflauge pattern to it and some camo nets... as its a static peice it would try to conceal its position from the enemy..
@ KRIEGEIRK ... yup i thought that too... i dont like the exposed missiles look and didnt think it looked right like that on a chimera chassis...i prefer missle tubes and i like anglular squared things as well thats why i based mine loosley from a MLRS.
@ Commissar Col. Mael ... yeah i can see how you might had done that... this stormlord is draining me of my superglue... ive had to stop progress on the stormlord anyway until my 50 neodeblah blah magnets turn up... i was using magnetic tape that i stole from work, but its just not up to the job and isnt that strong... ive got all the configurations of shadowsword/stormlord etc avaliable to me... it was hard to get my head around it though as the instructions to assembly it were total pants...
but tonights converion special involves a space marine scout bike and some cadian bits... this should be fun

Yeah total pants man.
A camo net would be a good idea just to spice it up a little, but it's looking fine the way it is now. A basic, specialised vehicle. Too much detail can kill detail

maye i should base the manticore and have it hidden under camo nets, diorama style... with missle crates and guys relaxing under the nets smoking cigerettes ... that kinda thing

I noticed you said you thought it was a bit plain or bland? one of those two. Paint a big ol Aquila between the missile tubes. When the enemy see's that rising up from the back they know trouble is on the way

@ prilladog ... i ndid buy some bikes from ranshackle quite a while ago... and as much as i thought their service was great and their prices too... the models sucked.... the bikes were massive and were as big as my warthogs... and the casting wasnt very good and the whole thing was slimey from cast release... anyway.... im converting SM scout bikes for the bikers
@ KRIEGEIRK ... hhaha yeah not going to do that mate... my force is non imperium and independant... i remove all the aquillas from everything.... but thanks for the suggestion dude

just wanted to show what i got so far on the biker... the bikes mudguards are drasticly cut down to make it look lighter... also i wanted the bike to look like an all terrain bike and not a harley so i made the seat set higher, replaced the footrests with pegs set further back like a road bike. for the rider i used the gloved parts of the scout and added them to normal cadian arms, the model had a cadian torso and head on top of the sm scout legs. rather than this figure being a 'biker' i shall be using bikers as my rough riders as i felt the lizards (page 1) didnt fit well with the look of my army.... i have chosen to not use lances for my rough riders and i will be adding a single shot launcher to the front of the bike as a stand in for the single use power weapon the standard rough riders usually have... things to do... biker goggles single shot launcher paint and base.

ashotninja, please tell me you're going to go and work as a modeller for GW. I'd much rather buy those bikers than the actual Rough Riders. They'd fit my army so well, too, except for the lack of Aquila. If I may ask, what did you use for those bikers? And could you make a tutorial?

Yeah I'd love to go pro with modelling... I'm hoping to be able soon to sculpt and cast my own ogryns kits, also after today thinking of sculpting my own ig bikers kits... bike, legs and arms... I could easily do it... and I'm sure there ls a market for them... Well the next biker I get I can write a tutorial as i make it...its fairly complex

Nice scratch build on that Manticore. I have the same idea for Rough Riders as you do, by using Scout Bikes. Don't forget to drill out the exhaust a bit. And fair warning, this exact pose WILL be stolen some day. But dibbs on putting a Mogul Kamir on a 4 wheeler. ~ Pax

That biker looks great, ninja! The only thing I can suggest is that you need to extend the front of the exhaust pipe a bit so it connects to the exhaust manifold coming off the engine, as well as drill out the back of the exhausts as Pax Urbis suggested.

iv taken that suggestion and hid the gap between the exhaust pipe and the manifold tubes with a sculpted bellypan... also i added short tubes to the exhausts insted of drilling them out. i might add some stowage to the bikes to make them look worn in, but considering this is the leaders, hes going to make the others in him unit take all his gear
