Thanks! There ain't much sculpting on Harker other than the helmet and a bit of the arm though. BUT I have, as you know, worked on a Marbo and on him it became a bit more. Here he is, unpainted and a bit WIP: I feel quite satisfied with the "guille"-parts, but I feel that I need some more eyes. So what do you guys think? Should I change anything on them? Or do I need to redo them in their whole?

The ghillie-stuff looks good but I would do something about the mortar shells. Now they look like they just magically stuck to the autocannon mag. Attach them with thin strips of plasticard or something so that it looks like they are actually fastened to the rest of the bomb.

The job you have done is amazing, but the demolition charge could use some love as egon said.

Thanks for that note! I fixed it right away when I saw your comments and fixed with a piece of steel-wire. I've also painted some of the ordinary infantry, around 20 men in their new, speedy fatigues. Oh, and I finished harker! So, the details on the infantry is what is left from previous paintings. I believe that it can look good when they're massed during games. And on marbo I'm not sure that the flak should be dark brown. Oh, and Ebay is dangerous... Got three catachan snipers yesterday that including the price for getting them sent to me cost half of what GW is charging, without posting them... And I might get a chimera for under $15 if I'm lucky!

Got to love Ebay A great update by the way, and 'massed infantry' are very good for concealing a quick paint job, and save you half of your life too

Ebay is dangerous, it makes you use all your money. It requires strong will and determination to enter it.

Thanks! Do you have any pics of him your Harker? Want to see that HB you built Also, thinking about making a Marbo in about the same style, and for demo-chargers I was thinking about a pack of mortar-shells, fixed together in a bunch. I'm gonna admit it, that idea is shamelessly stolen from Saving Private Ryan. The rest of him gonna be a surprise, although I'm more than happy to get some ideas or advise from fellow converters/painters! I'll post some pics of my harker soon.

Looking really good I can't help but feel that the legs should be a slightly darker green, just to break it up a little.

@ready: I stole the name from the novel 15 hours, quite shamelessly I'll admit. Most of the names on my minis is either from that novel or the Chiapas Cain novels.
@cosmic: I agree to 100%, but I've been down that road and for me it took ages to paint. Hopefully the details will make them all look better. But perhaps in the future the pants or flak will get another colour.
No new pics today, and unfortunately not for another two weeks. The reason is the AWT I have to do this winter. This is the first if three two-week periods. Perhaps next weekend, when the catachan snipers and my new chimera (yes I won it :-D) has arrived. Marbo will, for the time being, be something I paint when I'm sick and tired of my regular guardsmen and tanks.

@dave: thanks! I must admit that he's my own favorite for the moment, although I have some grand plans for marbo.
Then over to the big question: I want to do something really special with my new chimera, and I have absolutely NO ideas. Do you guys have any tips or ideas?

Hmmm.... Your men look pretty well equipped/ Special Forces- like. Maybe take a look over at Ashotninja's thread, He did some work on the Chimera turrets and made it look pretty sweet. Could provide some valuable inspiration Dave

@dad: thats one sweet pose for harker! I really like the worndown flak!
@dave: that's some sweet turrets he made, but not quite what I was thinking about. Although it gave me one idea. I've never before noticed that the chimera us missing sights for the main weapons!

Ok lads, I'm finally home after 2 weeks in the snow, and waiting for me at home was my new chimera! I've gotten some work done on it tonight, although no painting and there's still things that is to be glued on. Here's the things that I've changed from the original model so far: The aiming-system of the turret! It's the most wip part of the tanks, and I'm not sure of the placement, but I think I will get it all done before I judge. The beauty of buying from Ebay! Got some spare parts from a rhino, and found that one of the side hatches (I think it is) fits almost perfectly! With some minor adjustments it looks quite nice! During these to weeks I've been looking around a lot on this forum, and we have some solid painters! I'm in awe and hoping that I one day might get up to the sculpting and painting skill that is displayed

im so doing the rhino door conversion on mine now... it makes sence to have a ladder to the top
seems you missed a trick though... you should have cut the lasguns off insted of pointing them inside... you could have used them for conversions
also i dont really like the position of the feul drums on the side... they would look far better mounted at the back in the empty triangle of the hull above the rear track... sleeker and less side profile
the turret aiming looks good though...i havent seen it done there before
and your harker looks like a propper badass...i can just see him walking forward screaming at the enemy while letting rip with the heavy bolter, while incoming rounds are pinging off the bolters shield.... is it me though or does the ammo being fed into the heavy bolters not require a barrel of that size... i think GW messed up the scaling with the heavy bolters

Got that right. When I was painting the model, I was like, "wait a second... those are small bullets for a barrel the size of your head"

@ashot: I changed the placement of the fuel-tanks as soon as I read your message! I must just say that I'm in awe of your chimera-turrets! They look awesome!
And yeah, the heavy-bolter round is a bit to small now that you mention it... Never saw that before!
Might be able to post some more pics of what I've done today when the boss is away and looking as HSwMS Härnösand, hopefully she will be away for some time and looking at it so that the building part can be done!
Oh, and I'm also in the progress of bulding an Officer of the Fleet, with the fatigues based on the navy ones from Starship Troopers!

Thanks cosmic! I cant wait to paint that part actually! A thing I discovered with ebay is that some parts is in the risk of getting deformed. The top of the grunt-compartment was bent when I got it, so I had to bend it back. Well, here's some updated pics of the work, I'm going for a chimera and crew that is almost scavengers, getting their hands on everything they might need (so, in short, a crew that is a version of the one I was on during my IFV-instructor training). I fixed the spare fuel as Ashot suggested, and built a custom HB for the hull. And, as well, made a remotely controlled heavy stubber. I should probably add some wires and a box to represent the motor for the elevation system. The remotely controlled HS and a searchlight that is basically turned forwards I will have to some kind of connectors to the chains as well so that the just don't lie there and is fastened by an invisible force. Is there anything else that I've missed? I don't want this to be a quick and sloppy build, nor a stripped downed fabric-new chimera.

Going back to the Demo charge - have you seen the weird object with a handle that the marines get on certain sprues, (I think its the devastator ammo box) it looks great as a demo charge.
I there's one on ebay for about £2 including postage....

Tread: no I haven't seen that one, but I think I've fixed it now! Mael: yes it is! It's the older edition as you see, but the great thing about it is all the gear you get (as the track-guards). I really miss all those things in the new kit

Ah ok, out of curiosity why did you point the lasguns inside ?
I'm asking cause I got my Chim second hand and the previous owner had snapped off like three of them so I just snapped them all off. It looks better in a way, more compact.
Secondly, how did you make Harker's face mask ?
