I was not idle during my time away from the internet. The recent con has delayed my posting, but gentlemen... BEHOLD!: My newly painted Basilisk and second Scout Sentinel And the sad entirety of my painted army:

I'm not too fond of brown as the main colour but the level of painting is good. Could we have a closeup of some of the infantry? EDIT: Silly me, I found the rest of the pages in this thread. Some of the men have some mold lines, but otherwise it looks fine. Keep up the work!

Thanks! All of the GW models are used, and I got them preassembled. I'm just repainting them. As for the colour, that's connected to one of the few bits of fluff that I've actually decided on for my army.
Specifically, they use craptonnes of artillery, and tend to favor the creeping barrage a la Vimy Ridge. This means that pretty much every battlefield that they fight on is a muddy, cratered mess, and thus mud colours for all the things.

I think I might be the only person in the world who likes the gun shield on the basilisk. Looking good for some grime-guard! I've got to admit the monotone (from that picture range, I appreciate there are multiple colours used) wasn't my first preference but the more I come on this thread to read the replies it grows on me. How many basilisks do you plan to have eventually?

At 1500 points I'm planning on 4, and 6 at 2000. Two basilisks in each corner, with ablative infantry nearby. And also Lascannons. My CCS will have one, both my Vet squads will have one, and both of my Scout Sentinels will have one.

Boom that's a lot of templates first turn. On most if not all of the tables I've played on (with allies) they only get fired indirect first turn then the rest is direct. Still, at least with that many you have target redundancy!

Indeed. My strategy is to have a powerful, pinning first turn, followed by long range shooty death. In the event that I get outflanked, or infiltrated with deep striking units, the opposite corners can cover each other.

One of my stormtroopers Back of same Another generic female guard: Back of same Catachan melta stormtrooper (she has thick leather, and metal bits on her boots, that's the Catachan equivalent to carapace right?) Your paint scheme rocks, I really wish the Guard had more female models, as a statement I'm collecting up and including as many female mods as possible from the GW range and will incorporate them as best I can. A policy I do not extend to none conformal male models

I was sure that I'd posted a thanks for the praise Ivory, but apparently I didn't. So thank you.
I'm not concerned about playing in any official GW tournaments, so I don't care about making my army 100% GW.

More pictures finally, including the definitely not a knock off female commissar: In this image all four of the painted female Cadians are together at last: I'll probably make the Marbo my Company Commander as I've heard rumors that the Catachan characters aren't going to be in the new codex, and my list has evolved to exclude Marbo anyways. In the back of the image you can see the first of my sniper vets. Also included are the first two sisters that I've painted myself, the profiles of which are below: I haven't been painting as much because of new job and stuff, but I'm slowly poking away at things. By the time 7th comes out I might even have an army I can field.

Thanks, yeah. The sword on the Commissar was super bent when I first got it for those who care.

Looking good, especially on the vehicles, the hatch on the Basilisk is upside down. I really like the basing on the Sentinels, why aren't the infantry done the same? the rocks on the female troopers seem out of scale being too big imo. The female troopers could also use some makeup=eye liner, lipstick etc.

Why on Earth would soldiers wear makeup to battle? Also, I don't think I'd be able to paint any kind of makeup that didn't make them look like hookers, which is the exact opposite of what I'm aiming for in general. The lighting on the picture of the Commissar makes it difficult to tell, but her lips are a different colour than the rest of her skin. Elf flesh with Ogryn Flesh wash is what I default to for skin, and Dwarf Flesh for the lips. It
As for the basing, I've gotten a bunch of stuff used, and the basing was already done. I've finally got my own flock rather than the lumpy gravel, so I'll be able to make the bases a bit more coherent, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

Nice looking army you got there! Easy but good looking color sceme, and i totally agree there aren't enough females in the guard As for the skin...i ussually do bronzed flesh with a Black wash but i'm gonna try yours soon..Just to see the diff Keep up the good work!

The Elf Flesh (or whatever the new version of that is) is much too pale all by itself, but the Ogryn flesh adds a healthy ruddiness that makes it look much more natural.
