I've settled on the name "Otto von Krump" for my Warboss, as something about it just seems to suit the model. I'm also going to use another suggestion I received for my Badrukk stand-in (the dude in the bomber jacket), "Lootwig van Beathoven". I'm an avid listener of classical music and it suits the slightly more "refined" model a little more than the boss.
@ Ivory, I'm liking Heinz for an Ork, I might adopt this for the Nob in my shoota boyz, or potentially even the Painboy in the Flash Gitz.
@ Sapper, my orders from FW have been largely okay. I've had plenty of warping (which is easily fixed), and the few broken Engineer shotguns weren't an issue as I had plenty of spares due to the way I built them (also I broke a few myself...). My understanding though is that FW have excellent customer service and will usually replace any wrong of faulty products immediately. Vegna is right, shoot them an email explaining the situation (possibly accompanied by a photo) and see what they have to say.

Thanks gearboxx! The orange couldn't be easier. It is literally just a white base coat with three coats of the GW "Fuegan Orange" wash. The past two weekends have been incredibly eventful for the 42nd Krieg Engineers as they have participated in two tournaments. The first was the 1500 point Victorian Interclub Challenge (VICC), which as a club-based team event. Much to my surprise, of the eleven competing clubs the team I was standing-in for (Ringwood) actually won the 40K tournament (largely thanks to my other team mates). Since this is the closest I’m likely to ever come to saying this, I will now take the opportunity to say, “I won a tournament”. The second was an 1850 point hobby based tournament called The Western Smash. Largely thanks to a heavy Comp element I managed to place 9 of 28 (with two wins, three losses). More importantly I am proud to say I received Player’s Choice for the best army, for which I was incredibly honoured. There are summaries and a tonne of photos of all 10 games from both tournaments in the link below, along with a teaser photo from each event: VICC/Western Smash: www.commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aar&action=display&thread=17264

ah didn't relise you use the wash technique! but guessing 3 washes does sort of getting it all coated evenly. Still not a huge fan of the orange...seems too happy for the DKoK. BUT it is growing on me...like that stuff I picked up in that trench... err. help? And Grats on winning a tourney! I'm sure you helped, we all know the massed ranks do all the real work and the space marines just take the credit at the last second

Thanks Vegna! The orange certainly isn't for everybody, but I love it and I'm slowly winning people over ;D @ prilladog, yes it is a Tamiya kit. I was very impressed at how simply and cleanly it assembled (I have bad memories of a messerschmitt from many years ago...). This is my last proper blog update for a while as I’m going fishing next week and starting work full time the week after. I finished uni last year and was supposed to start in February, but it was postponed till mid-April. As a result the past five months have given me heaps of time to paint up the majority of my DKoK Engineers. I’m around the 80-90% mark with this army, and over the next couple of months I’m sure I’ll find time to tinker away at some painting and report in on some battles. Thank you all for your support and encouragement, it has been pivotal to keeping me motivated to get so much stuff painted (because I do hate painting after all). To close out for a while here are some parting shots of my newly finished Harker model, who is a DKoK Grenadier with a Heavy Stubber. Hope you like him:

No problem, thought it's abou time i commented after following your army since it appeared on the board, fellow DKoK fan. Best Of luck with the new job, hope you do still have time to add to the army, and improve it. Seems I always have 1 aim/goal, sort of reach it and move on to the next. always gonna be 100% complete + extras and if you don't enjoy painting, it doesnt come across in the results! (AKA it looks like you love it )

I might steal the half track idea. I've got the same kit and I'm tierd of looking at it so I threw a auto cannon on the main MG, finally started painting my dkok, not as flashy as yours tho!

I think I just went 8 of the most epic pages of my life. Seriously, great work here. I was super doubtful on the scheme when I first saw it but I really have to say bravo for making it work and making me like it. Your conversions are outstanding and now I'm plotting how I can eat that many ice cream bars in what amount of time to build me a display board

A belated thank you guys, the support is really appreciated. Yesterday I played in a 4 game, 1200 point tournament called Rampage. It was a fun day and I placed 7 out of 52 players. This is my highest tournament placing, though as I had two wins and two losses it was influenced in part by the comp system (my list was deemed rather soft, being one of the highest 6-7 highest ranked by comp – after my first two games I think this was a reasonable assessment). Anyway, here is my list and a photo of my army arrayed for battle: CCS, Lascannon, MoO, Camo Vets, 3x Plasmagun, Autocannon, Forward Sentries Vets, 3x Flamer, Demolitions and Chimera, Multilaser, Heavy Flamer Vets, 3x Meltagun, Demolitions and Chimera, Multilaser, Heavy Flamer Medusa, Heavy Flamer 2x Hydra, 2x Heavy Bolter Warboss, Power Klaw, ‘Eavy Armour, Cybork Body, Boss Pole 11x ‘Ard Boyz, Shootas, Nob, Power Klaw and Trukk, Big Shoota Game 1My first game was supposed to be against some trukk/battlewagon Orks (which I was looking forward to), but the draw changed and I was put up against another Guard player. It was “The Scouring” and my opponent managed to start off with the “4” and two “3” objectives, however this was irrelevant as he tabled me! It was a good game regardless, with the highlight being the Master of Ordance: turn 1 he blew up a Chimera, turn 2 he blew up a Griffon, turn 3 he blew up a Chimera, and on turn 4 he hit a Chimera, but the CCS Lascannon blew it up first! 30 points well spent! Game 2Game two was against a Necron army, and whilst I didn’t get tabled, it was pretty darn close to it in the end. It was still a good game though. Game 3My third game was against Dark Eldar, which was only the second time I’ve really played them before. I had first turn and my opponent wasn’t having the best day - most of his transports were taken out in the first two turns and the infantry inside was either flamed, assaulted or shot to pieces. For once the Hydras actually were worth having, as normally they are completely spudly. Game 4The fourth game was probably the best of the day. It was against a dread-heavy Marine army (2x Ironclad, 1x Rifleman, 2x Regular Dreads, 2x tactical squads, a Master of the Forge and an Aegis), and it was interesting to note that both our armies had similar comp scores. Thing started well from the beginning with the Medusa taking out the two regular dreads first turn. This led to the highlight of the day, as for once the Orks didn’t die immediately and ignominiously. von Krump made it into combat and in a challenge with the Master of the Forge took a wound before beating him to a pulp whilst the rest of the Orks wailed on the Tactical Marines. They then proceeded to take out a Combat Squad, before von Krump personally punched the Rifleman in the face and then clobbered one of the Ironclads in the closing stages of the game to boot. Over five tournaments in the past six months I’ve now had the opportunity to use pretty much all of my Krieg units in a competitive setting, and they have all had at least one game where they haven’t sucked completely. Now that I’ve had a chance to test out all my units I’m getting a better feel for how this army operates, and a better feel for 6th edition as a whole. From here I think it is time to settle on a working list and style with the units I enjoy using the most, so that I can start focussing on improving the overall quality of my game play, as winning games is really where I’m faltering at the moment.

It's great to see this army massed up again.
7th place sounds OK. How do you think you can improve your list?

The commissar seems way to brightly colored for a normal commissar. However the painting on him is awesome.

Greetings all, it has been a while since my last update. As usual real life has happened, and I am now working full time as an engineer (yay!), so haven’t had much warhammering time. That said, I partook in a 2500 point allies tournament a few weeks ago called Alliance and came a respectable 8/22. We had to take mandatory allies, and my Deff Korps were the natural choice to accompany my Krieg Engineers. You can find write-ups of my games: commissar.proboards.com/thread/17651/alliance?page=1&scrollTo=370267Here are some teaser photos: My fourth opponent Ty was kind enough to set up and take some photos of my army, the photos can be found here: www.ww40k.com/2013/?page_id=3399

Just days after posting my last review, I’ve just been to another tournament! This was a 1000 point, four game event, and it was an absolute blast. I had four great opponents and with two wins and two losses placed 7/22. The tournament write up (a little more detailed than my last few as it is all still fresh in my mind) can be found here: commissar.proboards.com/thread/17664/feel-pain?page=1&scrollTo=370509

Good grief, hasn't it been a while! It has been a busy year working, and my hobbying has comprised attending tournaments every month or two. I do have some photos to post of these, but this is a job for when I have more time. I finally got around to finishing off the models I had intended to use as Ogryns for my other Guard army. Between then an now I had the realisation that they would look better with my Kriegsmen, and that they would serve me better as Ork Mega Nobz. I have painted them up for a tournament in a week and a bit, and am quite looking forward to smashing things! Here they are pictured with their a Halftrack and the big cheese, Kaptin Otto von Krump:
