Meh, in with the new out with the old, welcome to the 21st century. There is no room for old Russian frontoviki, now it is time for the new Russian Specnaz!

Speak for yourself. I wouldn't trust the Spetznaz to attack Paris, let alone do any actual fighting. Russian special forces are a joke. Stick to waves of greatcoat-wearing conscripts.

What? How are they a joke? The VDV is the best airborne force on the planet. But as before mentioned, by specnaz I meant cadians lol. I want some great coat wearing conscripts... But I doubt it if we will see them...

If you're REALLY desperate for hordes of consripts, some metal 28mm BTD Russians tarted up with spare Imperial Guard lasguns/WHFB Empire Blunderbusses/Grot Revolvers or any weapons at all you can lay your hands on, look very 40K-ish when set on 40K bases. £30 will get you a platoon of about 30 blokes, and lasguns and weapons and bases etc can normaly be found in bitz boxes. If not its cheaper than forking out for EBay armies and quicker than waiting for GW to get off their elbows and make some.
I did a similar project yonks ago with Foundry WWI Germans to make Death Korps... in the days before FW this is, and the effect was quite good all round.

Yeah I guess that'd work. But I would really like to see GW's take on what they figure a valhallan conscript would look like.

The Para's are generally acknowledged to be the best airborne force on the planet. Mainly because they provide the SAS with most of its recruits, and have some tactical experience with airborne ops. The VDV has never been used as an airborne unit.
And in any case, read Ghost Force by..... someone. He picks apart the Spetzanaz myth nicely.

I will, still go for cadians, they seem like the modern Russians, while the Valhallans are WW2-early cold war troops.

Cadians represent any modern army. If you make weapon swaps you can have them really look like every modern army (Bundeswehr, US Army, Red Army, NVA from Eastern Germany (ok not so modern as it isn't existing anymore), Brithish Army... Whatever you like.

The Red Army doesnt exist anymore either, not since after 1945, they changed to the Soviet Army. But yeah, they are pretty versatile.
