i thimk it will be a mighty tome! jervis johnson says it will bring back the mighty battles of RT and 2nd edition, all the discriptions suggest that its going to be a all day and night thing. once i get back into my castle (i had to relocate when it tried to do a impression of a trident submarine) myself and some smurfs scum players and a few others are going to send our Mrs's to the pub or some where and going to get all "large scale old school" on each other

I kinda feel sorry for the non-imperium players out there who really..heh..pardon the phrase, but "aren't getting anything for christmas" as this is basically christmas for the IG (and to a lesser digree the marines).

I am so glad the Tyranids aren't getting much. A friend of mine is starting an army and I must admit I was starting to worry. I was picturing 30 'fexes running around the board!

the nids are still getting some mega-sized boxes, like the 120 gaunt "endless swarm" set. I must agree with turtleboy as th guard are REALLY getting the spotlight on Apocalypse, and this months white Dwarf has CONFIRMED that the codex will be 200 pages yay!

And why shoudnt we? The imperial guard have been pushed around for far too long, now its time to unleash a fire laden blitzkrieg upon the enemy!

If your interested in Blitzkrieg tactics there ain't no better army than guard!
You think Guard have been pushed around, before the new Tau codex was released they were NEVER even mentioned in white dwarf. In the last three years the IG have been used in most of the UK WD 40k battle reports.

Bah, we will CRUSH them! Like the soviets against the nazis! Sure, there will be growing pains, but we can take em'! No need for thousands of baneblades when hundreds of thousands of infantry are available.

The Russians didn't crush the Nazis. They defeated the nation, the Natzi ideology lived on and many people still belive in what the Nazis tried to accomplish. Ever heard of Neo-nazis?

Nazis suck there idealogy was crap and there military was garbage. When you lose to russia your a joke. Anyone who says they had a great army are fools. They had the manpower and technology to have won WW2 and they didnt because of the stupidity of there leaders, pretty much IG when you think about it, only IG always win, because in that respect they're like the CCCP (USSR) with the old steamroller meatgrinder. And German tanks were lousy a russian tank could full speed ram a german panzer and the panzer would shatter look it up ive seen the footage.

no, the Soviets were like the most agressive and best army ever, the Germans came second, so their military didn't suck

Could you please go back to topic mates??? It is a very interesting subject but you may discuss it somewhere else??? I have my idea about the German and Russian armies during WWII... Does anyone has seen Apocalypse book???Is there a special rule for an IG infantry company??As GW will launch the boxset, maybe.....

I seem to remember seeing something about an IG infantry company and you can pretty much bet that it'll get a couple stratagems if you're able to field it (though I don't have any specifics as to what makes an IG infantry company or what stratagems it offers).
sorry I couldn't be more help, perhaps cherub can be of more help as he's seen the pre-release book.

Hmm, the Imp guard company...I like the sound of it. Man, I still cant wrap my head around the fact that this is gonna be so grand! Jeez, I cant wait! I think we should all just wait. We'll be shocked and/or appaled by the apocalypse when it comes out.

Not all the stuff being released in the big boxes has special rules. And you do have to pay for the special rules. For instance the monolith formation costs you CENSORED BY THE INQUISITION and does CENSORED BY THE INQUISITION. Now the stragagems are just like in cities of death, you get x number of them. But the Apocolyse ones are bigger badder and way way cooler.
Look at it this way. At the most you get a freaking badass army out of the company box that can kill marines by the drop pod load and exterimate nids by the swarm. At worst you get your army for alot less than it would have cost you before.
I would LOVE to be getting the company box but my wife would remove certian parts of my anatomy that I know I would like to use to make some more kids. Eaither that or I have to give up my baneblades and tank company.

all in time eh? it's just a matter of staying 'under the radar' hehe. there's a rumor going around that GW will be updating the formation list online post-release of apocolypse to keep filling things out as far as combos of units that provide stratagem "unlocks" which is kinda neat because, if you're playing the army that has more points than your opponent then the only way you really get stratagems (if I'm reading the rumormill right) is by having formations that unlock different strats for you (which yeah, cost points to then obtain, but at least you can get them at that point).

You mean the rumor that you get a strat for every 100 points more than your opponent has than you? Its true. And you do get 1 strat to start per player. Personally I'm more exited about being able to destroy terrain. Nothing says I'm going to kill you like blowing up the building/hill/forest that my opponent is hiding in then unloading everything at them when they dont have a cover save anymore ;D
.....walks away cackling madly

wow that's just nasty. I think it's awesome the scale they're bringing 40k into. it's the one thing that they have the market cornered on: big games.

I doubt that there will be anyone left if you blew up a forest/hill someone was hiding in

what about the out of ammo rule i think ig might suffer on that one the likely hood of a squad of 50 conscripts rolling five ones is quite high then the whole shooting phase is over that could cause us a little problem

Out of ammo? thats a new one for me. I know certain superheavies and flyers have an ammo limit but I didnt notice out of ammo when i was going though the rulebook today. But then again I was only looking for certain rules I didnt have time to read the whole book. I really think its bigger than the BBB.
