Sorry for off topic statements but:
My earlier statements about germany sucking was kind of a joke obviously their problems lay in their high command allowing them to get into a multi fronted war. Only one country in modern history has been able to pull off something like that and it was a geared up superpower ,the united states in ww2 was able to aid in the victory in europe and be the driving force in the pacific campaign.
My point on them losing to russia being that the soviet union under stalin was probably one of the worst run countries in history. The casualties his purges caused both directly and indirectly crippled russias ability to wage war. It was only through the strength of the russian combat soldier and the T-34 tank and the huge numbers and resources that the soviet union projected against germany that allowed them to turn back the blitzkrieg almost literaly at the gates of moscow.
The IG operates like the soviet steamroller as far fluff shows and its clear that the imperial guard wins for the same reasons and loses for the same ones. So my point was that it makes more sense to have a more soviet themed army as apposed to a steel legion styled mechanised as those are rarer. I see the death korp units as being more in favor with the Ig (yes i know there also germanic) as a whole although this is just oppinion and how i would do my guard. Mostly infantry and artillery with heavy tank units operating in ACs.

Well the Death Korps are really based off of the WW1 trench warfare germaniacs. Super fun stuff...mustard gas...
Stalin was needed to get the soviet union to victory, in the end you truly need an insane, paranoid, delusional, maniac to tell everybody to get off their asses, make a tank, enlist, and help the war effort...or we'll kill ya!

A note to Tarlton, I read in codex that the Death Korps are actually inspired by WW1-era French Soldiers.

Thats bull. WW1 era french soldiers did have the whole 'we're all gonna die but who gives a f*ck?' attitude towards the end of the war, but the uniform and the Malcador itself are so Germanic that you can practically hear Wagner's 'Die Walkure' belting out of their speaker systems.

LoL, yeah thats true. But think of it this way, the french mighta picked up some real badass uniforms and tactics over a few millenia, not everything is gonna revolve around adrian helmets and cowardice.
