The elysians look amazing. Is that Elysian Camo or the Ogryn paint?
That special effect paint you use on the case.. I've tried to use it before. Are you supposed to layer it on really thick, it's hard to get that crackly effect?

For the fatigues? It was actually straken with a black wash then highlighted with straken and then nurgling cut with a tiny bit of straken. For the bases the trick is to paint the base first with whatever color you want showing through then when that dries really cake the aggrellan earth on.

Thanks jud, I appreciate it. I also got the old Warhammer Fortress recently. Had to trade my giant for it (which only cost me 25 bucks originally). I really didn't want to trade it but I couldn't pass up the deal. The old one made of polystyrene? Don't do what cheminhaler did with his.

I don't know where the parts for it are but I painted it will radiator emulsion paint and the 'styrene melted in some places, when I was really young. If I could only find the towers it would make a good Nurgle castle now. Chances are they're in the loft in which case they have probably been shredded by the resident squirrel(s). The council pest controller came to lay poison for them the other day and told me that grey squirrels are always killed because they are Murican imported creatures, whereas if we lived in Lakeside or Scotland the red squirrels are protected, nurtured and given supernatural powers by covens of mind psykers. For the fatigues? It was actually straken with a black wash then highlighted with straken and then nurgling cut with a tiny bit of straken. For the bases the trick is to paint the base first with whatever color you want showing through then when that dries really cake the aggrellan earth on. OK ; I might have to try using it again but I fond there were too many plain patches. I tried to paint a red base underneath for a lava fell but didn't like it afterwards.

Nothing much new, been busy with a move but that is starting to settle down so Ive picked up the brush again. Working on a daemon prince for a guy at my shop who kinda screwed me on the commission (he is notorious for it but hes a friend of a friend so I did it any way). Im basically getting paid 20 bucks for the completed prince. Here he is as he stands... And how the death korp are coming, Im probably going to change the color scheme, Im not happy with it but I wanted to finish one first. Hes about 60% there. And BATTLE MONKEY!!!!

The Jokaero has very glowy eyes. Did you use that new gem paint that paints over silver for the eyes?
DP looks amazing.

Demon prince was a rush job I must admit, tops like 4 hours plus drying time for the wash. For 20 bucks that he screwed me into taking, I'm not going to try very hard haha. And yes the battle monkey was blood for the blood god over silver with a spirit stone red highlight.

DP still looks ok, good foundation for some decent finishing. How'd they screw you into taking their money?

He basically just kept guilting me about how broke he is after he had already established what the commission would be (he traded me a used Valkyrie for what was going to be 20 bucks and a quick paint job on a commander). He then decided I owed him 20 more bucks which I just gave him, thinking that would mean no more painting but then he handed me the DP. After all that, he then asked if I would paint Belekor too but I flat out told him no. Im not doing anything else for him, this is the second time something like this happened.

What don't you like about the DKoK paint job?
I think (In my Opinion) You should change the colour of the Armour, I think that way the armour will stand out more.
As it stands I only see two colours that stands out, the silver and Brown.
Otherwise clean paint job, can't fault that.

Yeah but the DKoK default have gloomy colours and their WW1 inspiration goes well when they double down on it and then you put them on a trenchsystem/mud table and it looks like the war has sucked all the colour and life out of them and the environment is slowly eating them until they'll be buried in it. And then because it's 40k you can end up fighting some seriously brightly painted Orks who are just relishing in what is sapping the human spirit.

Yeah it was the color choices that I wasn't liking. I was going to add some bronze to the sliver to make it pop a bit more but beyond that I was thinking I might have to change the coat color. I did want to make paint the cuffs something else too but that was just a thought.

Personally I really like that dusty French blue you see on them sometimes. But you should also slather them in mud effect! Oh and do a weapon team where the two troops are carrying the gun and one of them is sinking up to the thighs, or hips in the mud!

I was thinking of doing the cuffs in that exact blue actually.

Death watch librarian I finished up last night. Realized the oxidation paint works well for glowingness.

Figured I would show the rest of my DW (ive done a crappy group shot before but that was blurry, lacking close ups, and they were unbased). So here they are in all their xeno hunting glory. I am missing a razorback that I havnt gotten around to painting. Ive stareted sculpting shoulder pads since they all need actual chapters shoulder pads and I dont want to reuse chapters. Thusly the top gunner of the razorback is a storm warden now. Note none of the squads are how I would necessarily take them, just grouped in 5s. Group shot The leaders and dreadnought: Watchmaster is a Son of Orar, Librarian is a Blood Angel (didnt give me a choice), the Watch Captain is a Mortifactor, Dreadnaught is a Lamenter. Squad 1: we have a White Consul, Tauron, Brazen Claw, Flesh Tearer, and a Black Shield. Squad 2: There is an Ultramarine, Novamarine, Crimson Fist, Imperial Fist, and a Black Templar. Squad 3: Vanguard Vets are a Brazen Minotaur, Angel Vermilion, Howling Griffon, Raven Guard, and an Iron Hand. And a shot of the Storm Wardens should pad. I plan on adding a get started box to give me 4 total of each of the special weapons, the captain model, and another dread. After that Ill be picking up kill team Cassius, another vet squad with shot guns, some termis, and then transports and a corvus. I love doing this army if you couldnt tell.

Cheers guys. The sculpting pads idea was borrowed from a Virginia friend who wanted all his guys to have proper chapter pads so he gets credit for that. If anyone has their own chapter and wants it represented in my DW feel free to post a picture of them here!
