nutty, that's true, they are kind of iconic. swalkerfour, thanks a lot! Glad you approve. Major Downer, thanks again! Yeah the transfers were a pain in the ass! Next up will be Belisarius Cawl from the Triumvirate of the Imperium set (he's the Mechanicum bloke) Heh, I'm imagining a guardsman having to repaint the 34 onto the tank to keep up with munitorium regulations after the paint got all dinked up, but the position got shelled halfway through and the guardsman hoolding the ladder bolted for cover throwing the 34 stencil off to an angle.

Lol! Actually we're Krieg, we don't run from shelling, we march towards it! I see it that the position came under a barrage and the guy holding the Stencil lost a leg but had time to finish the job before he passed out! A brave effort but slightly wonky!

Had a short break from painting any Krieg models. I've been working on the Belisarius Cawl miniature from the Triumvirate of the Imperium box. It's the second Mechanicum model I've painted, the first was years ago and was a total mess! Thing with Mechanicum is there's so much going on, it's quite daunting. Though GW washes are a God(Emperor)send! Here's the pics: Belisarius CawlBelisarius CawlBelisarius Cawl Belisarius CawlThat's enough of a break! Time to build the next batch of Deathriders...

This has come out quite nicely. I'll admit that he was my least favourite model of that triumvirate but seeing it on the sprue, it was quite compelling. Did you assemble it completely and then paint it, or leave some parts off so you could reach certain areas with a brush. If you didn't, then are there any parts you wish you hadn't glued down before painting it?
(The boltgun-metal and robes look particularly nice in your photos.)

Cheers gents!
Emptyhat, the kit is one that benefits from sub assemblies. The axe arms are one piece so they're sorted, as for the rest I assembled and painted the top and bottom halves separately.
Major Downer, that's the right way to approach it, painting the halves bottom to top. I'm going to build my Deatriders tonight so should some progress to share soon!
Thanks for the positive feedback!

So would you go for sub-assembly and base sprayed or spray it on the sprues and then sub assemblies?

Yeah, I built the bottom and top halves then sprayed them with Chaos Black. I found that way you can get to all that beautiful detail! Hope that helps.

Progress!! Finally finished my first regular squad of Deathriders! I'll probably be adding to this squad and 2 more (I want 3 squads of 7 on top of my Command Squad) Can't say enough good things about the sculpts, they're easy to build and are a joy to paint. Here's the pics: DeathridersDeathriders DeathridersDeathridersDeathriders Deathriders That's it for Deathriders for now. Next up will be Engineers and some stuff for Shadow Wars Armageddon (I'll be using Krieg)

Thanks on both counts mate! I'm really pleased with the way this project is going. Next up will be pics of my Shadow Wars kill team! I'm using Engineers for my carapace armoured shotgun guys and Veteran Sergeant, Regular Kriegers for lasgunners and Grenadier heavy stubber bloke for my snipers! Will be good to get some mileage out of the Krieg while I'm building my army.

Here's the list I've come up with: veteran sergeant, with camo gear, carapace armour, power sword and bolt pistol.
2 Veterans with camo gear, carapace armour, shotgun and sword.
2 special weapon operatives with camo gear, sniper rifles and toxic rounds.
3 veterans with camo gear and lasguns.
The plan is simple, snipers at the rear, lasguns slightly further forward and shotgun vets and sergeant advancing.
I'll be using my Krieg models for these.

Oh boy those shotguns are cool but the Sgt is bad ass, he doesn't look like he taking anyone's BS.
How many Rough riders will you have after this order? 15?
I love the Heavy Flamer team, I thought it was so much fun to paint.

Thanks MD! That settles it, Heavy Flamer and Meltagun it is! I'm up to 16 Deathriders! I want to have 27 (Command squad of 6 and 3 units of 7) Hopefully Deathriders get outflank like regular Roughriders, that'd be the icing on the cake! Can't wait for FW to release the Krieg rules.

OK, it's been a while since I updated this thread. I've been working on my third unit of Deathriders. Since then the rules have been updated and I'm looking forward to fielding them in 8th. Plans have changed. I'm now thinking that Artillery as well as Tanks and (lots) of infantry is the way forward! Especially when the good lads at FW give us back the Heavy Artillery Carriages (Fantastic models!) Here's the last of the Deathriders (for a little bit) Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of KriegDeath Korps of Krieg Thanks for looking! Sweeeet, they just look so cool when they are grouped togeather!
So are you up to 16 riders now? you're going to need one hell of Horse stables for this lot.
Keep it going, I love DKOK!

Thanks MD! Yeah I have 16 (including Commander and Commissar!) so far, I will be adding more just not right now. As I said I've done the Meltaguns for my Engineers. I think I'm going to add a Mole Launcher to the squad. Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Next up will be the Mole Launcher! Work will be a little bit slower with the Krieg as I have some more Tyranids to do.
