It's been a long time since I put anything up on the boards. I have decided to rebuild my Death Korps of Krieg force (new year, new army and all that!) Now this force will build at a very slow pace but I should post something new each month. I've gone for my tried and tested colour scheme (black and khaki) Here's my first model for V Siege Regiment: Death Korps of KriegDeath Korps of KriegDeath Korps of KriegDeath Korps of KriegJust realised I haven't muddied him up yet (DOH!) you get the idea though! Thanks for looking and have a happy new year!

Thanks nutty! You have to start as you mean to go on!
mccaptain, Thank very much! I enjoy painting Krieg models more than any other range!
swalkerfour, they are such good sculpts you really can't go wrong, I'm sure you'll do yourself proud!
I have to say now that the first 5 models have all been placed on the trench bases made by 3ff3ct! He really has done a good job on them.

Fantastic guard. They're very gritty and the bases are really good trench warfare bits of art. For the story - at least Krieg infantry are disciplined. They're probably all deaf because of the exposure to the noisy effects of mass artillery, which is why they obey orders. They're all waiting for the regiment enginseer to fit them with augmetic ears but he's taking his sweet time about it. And they probably play some variant of chess involving artillery pieces, in their spare time

Hey Jud,
Really good work on the muddy Death Korp, proper WWI Style.
will your army be based on man power with Artillery or adding Tanks too?.. or even air?

Thanks Major Downer, that's what I'm attempting to achieve! Bit of both really, I was thinking lots of tanks backed up by mass infantry and Deathriders! (They're my favourite models in the range) It wouldn't be Krieg force without artillery so I'll throw in some field guns. I went with tonnes of heavy artillery and infantry last time which proved very effective but not very fun, so I want something a bit more mobile.

I have the Squad of 5 along with the Commissar, they look so good and stand out in their own right. Maybe even add Hell Hounds with in the Fast Attack role, Personlly I see them as good fun, especially against Kroot. Look forward to seeing more.

You have the mounted Commmissar!? That is a thing of beauty! Hell Hounds look cool are the melta variant any good? Finished another 2 Guardsmen. That's 5 complete now, so I'm getting there! Here's some photos: Death Korps of KriegDeath Korps of Krieg Death Korps of Krieg Now the question, what shall I get next? I'm going to order the Siege of Vraks book so I was wondering what to get with it? I like the look of the Macharius Vanquisher but not sure.

Awesome looking kriegsmen As for what to get next.. the Macharius Vanquisher is a sexy beast of a tank, so I'm pretty sure advising against buying one is some form of techno-heresy. It's alright on the table, not too pricey, not over the top, not spectacular either. I have one, but sometimes wish I had gotten the Vulcan variant instead; it's slightly less cool (IMHO) but will put out a lot more damage. Also if you are thinking about Hellhounds.. you could get a Malcador Infernus. It's one of the coolest tanks FW makes (again IMHO) but... using it might cost you your friends/regular opponents. So the Macharius is a safer option there

Thanks for the advice nutty! I'm decided I'm definitely going to get the Macharius Vanquisher! It'll be the centrepiece model for my Krieg until it gets to Apocalypse size. I wanted something around the pts of a Knight and think it will look better with the Krieg.

beautiful models - love the mud!
the infernus is an evil tank, I had one though let it go to another home as I found it was just waaaay to effective!
the macharius hulls are all gorgeous, I personally like the look of the vulcan over the vanquisher but either looks great, and the range of the vanquisher is useful!

Thanks treadiculous! I'm set on the Vanquisher. It looks handy but not excessively good so won't cost me games! I'm currently working on my last 4 Kriegsmen, I'll post them up once complete.

Looks great!
Did you make the base yourself?

That is beautifully done!
The Base really does set the sceane. who ever made it, very well done.
With your Pony, did you have to green stuff the gap between the nose and the main head of the Horse? I ask this because I had to do it for all 5... So annoying!

Thanks lads! I did make the base, I wanted to do something a bit special with Field Marshall Marius Konstantin. Glad you approve!
I did have to fill the gap with liquid green stuff, wasn't too bad but as you say, a bit annoying.

That is an amazing commanding officer; I like the base but it will make him stick out during games (I like hiding my commander and making sure they don't attract attention ;-) )
I didn't realise you could take mounted command HQs with DKoK forge world rules; all my FW rule books are old. This idea appeals; which book/ volume do you get the army list from? Also does taking a mounted commander allow you to unlock death rider troops or would you have to go unbound for an almost pure rough rider army?

Thanks Cheminhaler! I do see the wisdom in a stealthy approach to HQ's but I had a plan for how I wanted the base to look so I needed enough surface to get the desired effect! The army list I'm using is from the Siege of Vraks book. It is based around the Deathrider Battle-forged Detachment. This gives the option of a Deathrider Colonel and Deathrider squadrons as core options! You also get 4 elites and heavy support slots! I plan on fielding around 27 Deathriders in all!

That sounds like a superb army. Rough riders are my favourite for a lot of reasons; purely from a gameplay perspective they are the ultimate thing to deal with drop podding SM infantry. Lances destroy power armour like hot knives into butter. Thanks for the information, I might have to look into making a pure r/r list one day. Cheminhaler, your old guard commander for the Stradaski had two massive, red, powerfists like a boxer. Yeah , so did the feudal guard commander and the original commander for my current 2nd chem guard army (now its the 4th chem guard army if you count the one with Vic Lamb heads). It was allowed in the old codex; now I have to snap arms off of those models. Nowadays I prefer laspistol/ cc and using those vast amount of pts elsewhere.

Nowadays I prefer laspistol/ cc and using those vast amount of pts elsewhere. Like Captain Testless of the Salian 78th. Of course he tends to not be so subtle due to his heroic deeds, like fighting an Ork Deff Dredd for several rounds and not letting it claim a game winning objective, or surfing a Valkyrie.
