Cheminhaler, cheers man, I use Vallejo Black, I find the Vallejo range cover really well.
Nutty, thanks.
MD, the Engineers were fantastic to work on, so much detail it’s great.
Funnily enough I’ve been watching Knightfall, Kingdom of Heaven and the documentary Crescent and the cross as inspiration! I’m loving the Templars hence why I’ll be adding to them over the next few months.
Vehicles are coming soon, first up though will be another squad of Intercessors, a squad of Inceptors and a conversion I have planned.

I've only seen Knight fall but the others are very well noted.
I can see where your insperation comes from and to make each one their own warrior, just perfect! You will need a templar with a perfectly trimed beard haha.
Noice, I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks nutty, I’m not sure yet. Atm I’m going to build a Detachment (probably a brigade) but the idea for the Crusade is to build a number of Imperial armies that can be combined for Apocalypse games. Obviously first up will be the Krieg and Templars but who knows after that. For now I’m just enjoying the painting.

I don't remember you posting the Intercessors, not sure how I missed that.
You can see they all have their own charcter to them, you've easily pulled it off and the Sholder pads on the DKOK ties them together pretty well, the don't look odd or out of place.
Thats the best green coats I've seen you paint, really great work Jud! The group picture is a joy to look at. I want more!

Thanks MD! Really happy you think the greatcoats have improved, I’m trying to raise my game painting wise.
Next up will be my Krieg senior officer.

Introducing Marius Konstantin! This is the leader of Krieg forces committed to Barbarossa IV during the Second Barbarossa Crusade. I'm really chuffed with how this model has turned out. I tried a different approach to him. I usually build and base the models before priming. This time (because I wanted to go to town on the base) I painted the base and character separately and glued him on at the end. I went for a black great coat as I wanted him stand apart from the line infantry. Also I think red and black is a well trodden and striking colour scheme. He'll tie in nicely with Commissars and the Black Templar elements (though I used grey rather than blue for highlights) He also sports the campaign badge on the right side of his helmet (I saw it on Wehrmacht units in a documentary I was watching for inspiration) Hopefully he'll lead the DKoK troopers to great deeds of heroism. Thanks for looking.

That base looks misrable (In a good way)as you'd expect for trench warfar. Marius Konstantin will stand out from everyone else and the Campain badge on the Helmet is a nice touch. I'm drawn to the coat, I think you nailed it.
How did you find painting both seperately?

Thanks MD I put a bit of extra effort into him, glad you like it!
Painting them separately felt a bit weird at first but I think I would have worn the paint off the base before I’d completed Marius. I stuck the model on a spray can cap with double sided tape, it wasn’t ideal but I think it helped.
Moving forward I’ll probably stick to basing and building models before painting as I think the fact he’s in quite a static pose aided my efforts.
I noticed from your recent update you use the GW model holder, how did you find it?

The Krieg warlord looks really superb; I like how everything is really clean except the recent mud spatters, which must really annoy someone who like a clean uniform.
The squad at ease are excellent. Those bases are really realistic.

I noticed from your recent update you use the GW model holder, how did you find it? Most ForgeWorld and especially the bikers (Rough Riders) I've painted in that way, just because the base would make it difficult to access all areas. I made the mistake of looking at reviews, mostly 'Hardcore painters' slating it down because 'They like to feel the model in their hand as they paint it' *Roles eyes* so I bought one out of spite. I have Three GW grips, one has the crock clips which has come in handy, plus you can remove them if they're no required. I think they're decent, I no longer get the hand cramp from holding the base and I use it for all my Infintry up to the same size base Marius Konstantin is stood on.

Thanks Chem! Yeah Marius was pretty pissed his Mukaali hide jacket got mucky! After 5 years service in the Korps you’d think he’d be used to it! Glad you like the bases!
MD, I think I’ll get one. I’ll hopefully be getting some Deathriders soon so I’m sure it’ll come in handy.

Nice! Those red sashes really pop; great way to distinguish the command squad guys from the regular grunts.

The colour scheme really works well, like Nutty said the Red really does pop.
I hope we get to see an army shot soon?
What do you have next on the table?

Thanks guys! Glad you like the sashes, I was going to do them blue but they didn’t look quite right.
I’ll try and put up an army pic for the Krieg stuff but I’ve sold my Black Templars.
Next up I’ll be doing something random, then another Infantry squad.

Ican see why you're really happy, They look so good on the table top, how are you not tempted to do a full army Or is that the reason why you sold the Black Templars?
I'm looking forward to the Radom mini, always fun to mix it up in between a project.
I come back from Download festival on Monday, the afternoon is reserved for Painting and watching the final races of the Isle Man TT. Tuesday there will be an update.

You know what? I think I’m going to take the plunge and go for a full Death Korps of Krieg army! They’re everything I want from a faction (Cavalry and artillery) Plus they look awesome. It’ll take a long time to build up but I think the end product would justify the effort.
I sold the Templars because they weren’t suited to the task I wanted from them. I didn’t want another gunline. I’ll probably get some again if they get some decent melee units.
Hope you have a great time at Download.

Thought I'd better update this thread! I got my hands on the Missionary from the Blackstone Fortress box. I've wanted to add some sort of Priest or something to my collection for a while. My brother just gave me this guy and 4 old metal Priests!! So I went straight for this chap as I really liked the space pope look of him! Missionary Missionary Missionary Missionary I'm reasonably pleased with him, though I think he could have been a bit neater. On to the Krieg Infantry squad!
