yeah, as you can see from the pics above of the dwarven mercenary 'jacks, I'm changing directions and going freelance! none of that faction stuff for me, I like scraping by and being hired for guerilla warfare campaigns and stuff like that. nothing like having your own private army too! I'm working on my first TRUE light jack, a Talon. I did a conversion to make him into a custom sculpted pewter hunk of awesomesauce - here's the pics I took of him: hoping that he'll be finished by tomorrow night and I'll be able to post pics. he's about 1/3 of the way done so far painting-wise.

BAM! so, gonna go 2pts base for a cavalry model on him, +1pt for assembly due to heavy conversion work +1pt for quality because he's got about 20 layers of paint on him (no joke) and looks awesome in my humble opinion. 4pts to meee!

sweet! (still need to do the glowy 'eye' area on the Talon - just doesn't look finished to me till I get that done - the head just lacks coolness but still..it's always something right? the reason I haven't done it yet is that I want to do light source painting justice when I do do it - I wanna do it right)

(new infantryman) gonna do 1pt for an infantry model +1pt for assembly because the cloak is entirely my sculpting skills (first time sculpting anything ever!) +.5 for quality (not happy with the cloak or the pants). I reserve the right to do redo some of the paint for the rest of the .5 in quality bonus if I can do something really good looking for the cloak and pants.

Very nice mate.. looks good.. the cloak came out nice, but could use more layers before doing the camo on it, or to layer the camo pattern a bit.. looks a bit off.. but the sculpting part of it looks great.. now wheres the basing on the model mate? You have such great basing ability on the last 3 or 4 and then this gets the black base of ignoring +1??? For shame TB.. for shame !!!! Looking good though, and I like how you posted the group shot as well.. its looks great along with the other guys.. shows how cohesive the models color schemes are.. Good job, keep it up.. only another 30+ points to catch up now? Cheers Gris

I'll take that other .5 for quality now I just spent like 2-3hrs on nothing but that cape it's got over 10 layers in shades of grey on it (!!!) I'll get the base done asap, just had to post the pic, I'm really happy with how it turned out and this guy now looks 100% part of my army since it's really a white themed winter army - the white cloak REALLY ties him in themewise. I also repainted all the metals, the tan pants and the brown ammo reloads at his hip as well as redid the eyes. (lots of time waiting for coats of grey to dry heh).

the devil dogs (of which he is one) are mercenary infantry that specializes in taking down big nasties, whether they be enemy warjacks or warbeasts. essentially, they all have entangling gear, pick axes, and those big guns that have a whole 4" range the upside to the guns is that they have a really frickin good power rating for an infantry held (or even light 'jack mounted) weapon. essentially some of the squad runs in first, preferably the closest ones so you can get up behind an incoming jack, then they entangle the enemy 'jack (or warbeast) and bring it down (entangling team attack causes knockdown but no damage). then you look and see how many more devil dogs you can get within 1/2" range of the fallen nasty and any extra troopers you have then run up and dump their 4" ranged artillery into the target. then you charge in with the rest of the squad and, since the target is knocked down the pick axes get double their power rating when rolling for damage. it sounds impressive but vs. heavy warjacks it'd better be the killing blow to it (which means I'll be needing to have blown the crud outta it on its way over to my lines) or it'll just get up and start trampling my troops and picking them up and throwing them into eachother with bone-shattering velocity and cleaving them in twain and other such nastiness. really though, the devil dogs are a pretty low priority for most warjacks because there's lots of them and 'jacks are focused at massive damage in maybe 3 attacks per round max. it makes cleaving thru a bunch of infantry that are actually able to do some damage to you kinda a pain in the butt full squad of 10 devil dogs please!

Well as Gris threatend me with calling a showdown when my desired date is reached, I'll have to counter that and get back from my crypt as soon as possible with some small and nice minis (but forget it I won't drop in my secret minis right now, but expect some really nice minis when I finally decide to drop them in )

Come on Gris, we all know that a beastman is damn ugly and that even a zombie has more sexappeal

I'm NOT getting into a conversation about what's hotter, beast sex or zombie sex! I'm trying not to post unless I have some progress to report so here's a progress shot of my second devil dog: he's primed and about to catch some paint at current. I swear I'm spending more time on my infantry models than I am on my warjacks!!!

And this is a bad thing how?? Your infantry models with the cloaks look awsome mate.. any chance you can give some hints on how you are making the cloaks? Wrinkles and folds parts expecially.. its one of the harder parts for me to make a... cloth that is.. so any tips or tricks on it would be mighty helpful And I really do love those potcannon guns they are carrying.. just beauty.. Cheers Gris

hehe yeah, this guy fired his and it's blowing him backwards I like the cloak on him and how it adds to the dynamic feel by introducing direction on a whole new level. as far as the cloaks go, this is the only article I read but it was all I needed: www.brushthralls.com/conversion/converting-the-circle.html

looking good you guys, Im posting here just to ask tboy some questions, all this warmachine stuff looks good but do they come in blister packs (or the equivalent) or boxes?? and do you use all your warhammer hobby supplies for them? (greenstuff/paints etc???) and are you still gonna finish of the rest of your 40k???

well, I wanted to paint my second devil dog but my friends birthday is tomorrow so I had her fiance' steal me her rippers so I could paint them up and now I'm turning them in for credit even!!! muahaha I did scarabs for 1pt/base so I'm gonna do the same with these guys. no quality bonus because they're pretty simple. no assembly bonus cuz they're 1 piece models 10pts for me! looking good you guys, Im posting here just to ask tboy some questions, all this warmachine stuff looks good but do they come in blister packs (or the equivalent) or boxes?? and do you use all your warhammer hobby supplies for them? (greenstuff/paints etc???) and are you still gonna finish of the rest of your 40k??? warmachine comes in blisters and small boxes (up to 6 troops for infantry squads or 1 heavy jack per box. blisters are 2 infantrymen or a light or even heavy jack. depends on the warjack whether it's a small box or blister. yep, I use all my 40k hobby supplies but since an army isn't as many models, I'm encouraged to focus on quality more and produce really nice stuff, thus my collection of hobby/crafting materials has really grown. am I gonna finish the rest of my 40k? time will tell. at current, I'm painting my warmachine stuff - we'll see what the future holds though
