/me hands Tboy some of the mighty stuff that is green. Make them yourself. Sandbags are pretty easy and if I'm able to model arms you should be at least able to to more and better stuff then me as I'm a total n00b with GS...

I would actually have to agree with Knight here.. small bit of GS.. in a rectangle shape.. then cut a small line along the middle of it like a bag would have.. and flop it down on the bases..
Update on my own guys.. I put models together.. lol.. no painting done but I put together 20 more Goblins.. am considering doing up all my RnF goblins... do up the bases.. do the base coat.. and then begin the tedious task of one color at a time for the whole bunch.. this being like 60+ goblins at once.. then I can have more models on the table that are painted.. am soooo close to having a fully force painted it is not even funny at this point.. though I actually need to paint up some of the special models more than the RnFers currently.. fanatics, chariot crew, squig riders, squigs, spider riders that seem to get a bit of play lately.. but to get some of the RnFers done will also make my army look a lot better as well.. so will see what happens.. the wife is taking off this weekend however.. so who knows.. maybe if the weather plays nice I might be able to get in some massive painting work done.. drop down 50 points or so next week.. (insert evil laughter here)
Cheers Gris

you making a 50 point gain doesn't sound so bad when I have a pic to counter your talk with! not bad for a weekend of hardcore work. took these guys from the box(es) to fully finished in like 3 days! 2 troop choices...DONE! now to think about my HQ. I'm gonna do another 2 troops here again as soon as my wallet recovers I want to start a space marine army by doing 1 full battle company (here comes apocolypse!!) well, 20% done with my first battle company I'm gonna score it like this: 20pts for 20 infantry sized models and .3 in quality bonuses per model (so 6 pts total for the quality bonus). also, .2 per model in assembly bonus so another 4pts for that. that comes to 30pts total...heck yeah! ***paintoff news alert*** Turtleboy has taken the LEAD in the paintoff, shifting grisnik to 2nd! being the new leader, I call a showdown. on 9/3 the lowest scoring person in the paintoff will be eliminated!

You do realize this is war.... This weekend.. will be the date of all hell to break loose that is evil incarnate.. minions of painting gods from all corners of the world will spring forth.. paint ready.. glue set.. models at the ready for mass assembly line work and to be finished with the rightful lead back where it belongs... IN MY HANDS!!!! Good job though mate.. was going to drop 10 models per day though as per the rules *cough* unless we are bending them a bit? though with the showdown limits are off till 9/3 right? So its anyones game then *gris checks outside.. see nothing but black clouds and heavy rain.. perfect painting weather.. checks downloads.. see new tv shows.. perfect painting shows.. game on boy.. game on.. I like that you are stepping up here TB.. and you are getting a lot of your models completed this time around.. compared to the ugh turnout ( can we call it that ) that you provided last time Cheers Lets see who is eliminated at the end of this week.. I guess that's me who is going to be eliminated this weekend, but I can't do anything against that since 300km part me from my painting and modeling stuff.... Too bad that all of you (ok except Gris) will never see my secret project now

oh dang you're right - 10pts per day maximum. well, lets see - day 1 I clock 10pts, day 2 (yesterday) I clock 10 pts and score the lead - we'll calculate the showdown from that date - day 3 I score the final 10pts (today). I'll move the date of execution back a day on the showdown. knight, sorry to hear you're out of area and unable to paint! I think you should post your secret project pics anyway

Sorry Tboy but that will be impossible since my motivaton to paint will drop close to zero. I guess you won't see any of them before the next paintoff, I'll participate in, starts. And Tboy I announced long time ago that I wouldn't be able to paint from beginning of August to beginning of October. And now you may guess why I wanted Gris to stop from any showdowns before October...

Sorry mate.. never thought someone would beat my point lead.. least of all TB... believe me when I say no one is more surprised than myself on this..
That aside.. I think that this competition then might begin to get a bit dangerous for everyone.. limitors are kinda off now.. and its going to be a major battle royal for point grabbing over the next couple of weeks as someone gets eliminated week by week.. its like our own reality show.. who can keep up.. who can survive.. who can outlast.. join us next week as we see who is voted off this thread.. forever wishing they had the talent to be a speed painter..

Sorry mate.. never thought someone would beat my point lead.. least of all TB... believe me when I say no one is more surprised than myself on this.. lol thanks! -_- Anyone else cool with giving knight a 'pass' on showdowns till october when he can actually defend himself? I vote he's immune to showdowns till then since he's like 200 miles from home. question: do I get points for spending all night decal-ing 20 dudes? I'll post some pics of the decals, they're basic but I've been at it for hours now! (maybe an extra .1 or .15 per model tacked on in the 'quality' department) opinions? tell me if you'd be cool with say .125 per model (that totals um...2.5pts for spending all night decal-ing). pics:

Your the judge, but decals are just time consuming, not really skill based Start the flame on that, but yeah.. if they were freehand painted decals.. then yeah.. but i dunno.. I dont decal cause I dont like the standard symbols for one, and usually like to do something more to the shouldpads if I am going to do anything to them at all.. Side question though.. whats up with the floresant bases? I understand the reasoning but why such bright colors though? really takes away from the models.. or maybe just these ones cause the paint scheme for the marines looks nice, solid, and a bit dark.. so maybe the contrast is a bit much.. and hopefully not as bad in RL.. my 2 cents.. refunds are available after labour day.. Does that mean i have to catch up with Fishki to survive this showdown?
(And can someone please explain the reason for these showdowns? It's not like its to many participants in this contest...)

winner of the showdown gets the prize pot - immuna make grisnik mail me sum blister packs cuz Immuna beat his butt with a paddle the shape of a giant paintbrush!
minus, if you complete that ink washing project then you'll be on easystreet. you can still submit the models you do for the inkwashing project for points too - so it's 10 bonus points plus whatever for the models you do up for the project itself.
gris - we do assembly bonuses to recognize the hours/days we spend assembling minis, so why not tack on a little bit for decalling? it's not a big bonus (a little more than 1/10th of a point per dude in my case, and that's 3 decals per dude, which takes a while cuz I have to let it all sit in between the first and second decal on the red arrow shoulder). I think it'd be fine for a minor bonus to be there for improving the quality of the mini with some decals - they definately do look better in my opinion. so tell me yes or no, gris, I want your opinion, and you too minus - anyone else is free to chime in just the same - should decalling qualify for a bonus to quality if done after the fact when the model's done and scored?

I never said no to points for it.. just from a painting perspective I dont see it.. but from an assembly point ok then.. that i can agree with.. I just prefer freehand ones.. I will see if i can get a good shot of my Guards and their shoulderpads as a reference.. that being said.. I dont mind the points I just dont see them being paint points.. which I think we both agree on so its all good.. Really going to try to motivate myself for this weekend to get some damn painting done.. really cant let TB have top spot still.. its getting a bit embarrassing Gris

Hee hee..will see.. the way I see it.. we still have 5 more weeks before it will just be the 2 of us.. and thats if you keep calling showdowns.. week after week to eliminate the bottom feeders.. i mean slow painters.. I really need to catch up though.. and actaully the Wii hasent had the hold on my life as much as i would have liked.. its been more work and turkish classes causing the lack of time and energy than anything.. yesterday was a National Holiday here in Turkey.. and i got to go to work, and I was the only person that showed up for the Language School.. But.. excuses aside.. I will get something painted this weekend.. as Wii as my witness I will get something painted this weekend.. and if all goes well reclaim my lead once again.. cause 20 points is not buried.. 40 points is not buried.. 41 points might be but 40 is not Cheers Gris

pics speak louder than words gris, pics speak louder than words....
hehe I'm really enjoying this paintoff this year - even if I manage to win, I'm still mailing you a blister for having mercy on the rest of us when we weren't piling painted model pics onto the thread and you were sitting on a massive lead.
that consolation aside....
YOU WILL BOW DOWN BEFORE MY PAINTING GODHOOD AND ADMIT YOUR DEFEAT AND INFERIORITY TO MY MASSIVE ARMY OF >>>PAINTED<<<< TABLETOP WARRIORS OF DeAtH!!1!11

OK So here are a few pictures of a few items that I have completed.. or at least almost done with regards to the Ungor basing.. And finally I just got some models primed.. and ready to paint.. add another 20 to this pack and that is what I am going to work on this weekend, and most of next week.. will see how far I get.. So for points.. 2 chariots, custom built .. and the Ungor Lineman.. with a bit of customizing.. but missing his base.. not sure what I am going to do base wise.. but I have 3 more of them almost finished as well.. just need to do up the highlights a bit more.. Expect more pictures from me TB.. Since until the 9/4.. there are no limits to enter so we can catch up to the leader.. Cheers Gris

damn that's alot of primed dudes!
alright for scoring - those chariots are hawt by the way..
ungor lineman we'll do 1pt for an infantry model + hmm, how's .7 for quality. everything on him is really nice but the shoulder pad is a little rough - the '11' on his back bumped it up from .65 to .7 in itself. a super nice touch making that shadowed like you did. I'm gonna let you tell me on a scale of 0-10 how much conversion work you did (0 being none and 10 being "omgosh, I basically scratchbuilt this dude"). that divided by 10 will directly translate into your customization points bonus (so like if you did a '5' on conversion effort then you'll get .5 bonus points for customization work).
the same for the chariots, I'd like a 0-10 rating for each one. for points lets count them as walkers (3pts ea.) we'll do a full 1pt ea for quality, I really like how they look, the woodgrain is crisp and you did a great job picking out the highlights and leaving the lowlights in the woodgrain untouched. the ponies look sweet too so that's great. I'll give you an extra full point for the 'but I did so much painting at such a high quality level, shouldn't I get more than just 1pt per model for a quality bonus?' thought that's gotta be going thru your head right now. so total of 1.5pts in quality bonus for each chariot. that's 9pts total so far for the chariots - will update your point total when you get back to me on your 'conversion ratings'
so 9 for the chariots and 1.7 for the ungor makes 10.7 so far on these sir!

Cool.. will post pictures throughout the weekend with regards to how far I have gotten through this mess of 60+ NGs.. As far as conversion works goes.. the Ungor is around 5 or 6... shoulder I agree needs work, but then again the putty work on it wasen't setting in the way I wanted.. but his left leg kicking up was cut, and the fur redone to make it look like it was original.. the strap on his chest, the shoulderpad, and the round circle on his back for the numbers and then of course there is his belt buckle.. which I tried to indent the Slannesh symbol into but I dont think it was as successful as it could have been.. .. not as much work as say my Human thrower but still a fair bit of work.. As far as the chariots go.. 100% conversion.. the chariots are made out of balsa wood, and the ponies are the BFSP Grudge Ponies.. the base is even balsa wood as I didnt want to spend any money making them since after I played with them in 2 games I have found them to be utterly useless.. so the less than 1o YTL ( like 7 or 8 US ) to make the 2 of them was a fair price compared to the GW versions.. Anyways.. I need food.. will grab some and then get back to the assembly line of the last 40 NGs that need their bases colored, and their hoods started.. Goal is 60 NGs plus whatever else I can muster up this weekend to be completed.. and whatever doesnt get finished will get hit this week then Thanks for the points there mate.. Gris

ok, I'll tack on 3pts more for conversion work .6 for the ungor and 1.2 each for the chariots as, well, lets face it, they're impressive (especially the one on the left).
holy crap you're within 1pt of me. OH HELL NO, IT'S ON!
I've eaten, and now I'm going to go chain myself to my painting table and work thru dawn. time to GET IT!
