nope they're regular dark angels with a better shade of green for their armor - not that crayon-ish dark green but a olive drab (more realistic in my humble opinion) green. just finished detailing and ink washing my 15 dudes. gotta let it dry and I'll do the eye lenses and base em then post the pic for scoring. the razorback will have to get done later. gris, I think you're gonna beat me just cuz you have more models to paint than me! my wallet is empty till next week (but I DO have 5 scouts that I'm prepping for the painting table). even next week all I'll be able to buy is 5 or 10 dudes oh well, I'll do what I can do and hope that my ability to buy minis at a steady pace allows me to keep up with you gris.

nice minus! I can't wait to see how it turned out did someone mention scoring points? I dunno...cuz, well... BAM! I think I need to tally some points for myself here! so 15 dudes is 15pts, I was giving myself .3 in quality bonus for each dude for the last batch and these are just the same so that'll be 4.5pts. assembly award is .2pts per model so that's 3 more pts. that totals um.... 22.5pts! sweet!

Ok so I didnt get as far as I would have liked today.. but there is always tomorrow.. and with most of the main parts finished.. its just adding the bronze to the weapons, brown to the rope and arrow bags, and then touching up with black all over.. maybe a bit of red on the biggest banner, but not too much overall.. Ok here is the last WIP pic of today.. more tomorrow.. Here is looking at 61 points before quality and assembly ( magnets to the bases ) tomorrow.. should be an interesting jump here.. and Knight.. I hope you can stay in the race long enough to show your surprise.. Cheers Gris

Well after I'm back at my apartment I'll have loads of time (and a really easy smester with only few days where I have to go to uni and only few courses)
And my first actions when I'm back will be painting, painting, getting to the GW store fetching more stuff for my surprise, assembling, paintng, painting, painting, and even more painting.
And since nearly every mini I'll finish then is a conversion...

5pts for a vehicle, .6pts for quality (due to bulk paintingwork, vehicles requiring alot more time/effort than a simple infantry model). no assembly due to the fact that I had the hull pretty much ready for the forgeworld kit and the turret was a simple thing to put together. 5.6 for me!

Only 1 question about the *due to bulk painting* comment.. isn't that why the model gets 5 points instead of the normal 1? Just wondering.. not saying it doesn't deserve quality points.. but quality points due to the model being larger.. thats a bit extreme.. if I ever finish my land raider would that mean I would get more points since it is larger than a normal tank as well? That aside.. here are the first 20 finished this weekend.. The white strip on the movement tray is a steel tape attached to the normal boxset cardboard.. very light weight, and allows some flexibility when packing them.. also allows my magnetic NGs to hold on quite well.. For Mork and Gork!!!!! CLose up to show the shading ( sort of ) on the bronze, and skin.. and to show that I even did up their eyes.. that was a bugger but whatever.. Going to work on the rest of the spearment now.. and then on the archers and command units.. expect 41 more models done today.. cheers.. Gris

Ok so here are 14 more Spearmen ( ok 13 plus a cannon crew ) Ok next up.. 20 archers.. 3 banners.. 3 musicians.. and an Archer Boss... Going for lunch first before I tackle this mess however Cheers Gris EDIT- Just a note.. the brown at the bottom of their robes.. its supposed to be there.. its to represent the mud and dirt they walk through.. just FYI..

so last time you did rank and filers I gave you .25 on quality for each of them, are you good with that still or have you been doing these with a more detailed technique than the others?
I'm gonna go off the .25 quality bonus level and score them as such
total of 34 infantry models is 34pts, plus .25 each for quality bonus is an additional 8.5.
total of 42.5pts to you gris!
***paintoff news alert!***
Grisnik has taken the lead back from Turtleboy, demoting him to second place!

Only thing extra I did was the magnets to the bases.. which is just as hard as putting models together.. considering I have had to redo more than a few due to still learning on how to do it.. And cool that I have the lead again.. time to bury you once more TB and sit back for a few weeks while everyone tries to catchup again Gris

hmm..so how do you want to work compensation for the magnets? you should definately get points for it seeing as it's something new, and learning new things are ALWAYS worth points. let me know how many points you want for the magnetizing (which is a great idea for WHFB by the way).

Would consider them the same as decals for 40k to be honest.. they take about the same amount of time, and yes I agree they rock for WHFB.. and for speed painting.. when painting all the spears.. I just take my 2x10 rank magnet movement base.. stick all the models on it, and hit all the spear tips at once.. same with covering the bases.. can do a huge line of them at once instead of one model at a time.. huge time saver.. so glad I spent the time to get magnets on most of my NGs.. have to do the rest up now I think.. Anyways.. Archers are done now.. I am getting tired and cross-eyed now.. sooo many NGs.. just have the command left though.. 5 easy models.. and then 2 banners that will take a bit more.. am trying to figure out if I should do free hand on one of them.. it needs something.. something NGish.. will see what I come up when I get there.. Cheers Gris

Ok and the final segment of this weekend's endevours.. The 3 muscians, 3 banners, and archer champion.. And finally a group shot of what I can get done in a weekend if determined and able.. that and having a ton of videos to watch really really helped.. So there you have it.. 61 models completed.. 9 characters/special models primed and ready.. and its only 6pm where I am.. wonder if I can get a bit more completed in the meantime Question to turtleboy now.. who was going to bury who? Good race this weekend though.. really enjoyed it.. lets hope that my lead stays for a bit here.. wont have much time to paint again for a while.. :S Cheers Gris

Question to turtleboy now.. who was going to bury who? bah. nice work gris very nice work. ok, so .125x61 for the magnet bonus=7.625pts 20 archers are 20pts +.25 in quality each=25pts total the 7 command models look pretty much the same quality, but I'll give you another .1 (so 1.35ea) due to extra work needed beyond what the rank and filers presented (a banner takes more work). so 1.35x7=9.85pts that's a total of 42.475 for these dudes.

pics speak louder than words gris, pics speak louder than words.... So ugh.. do my words match my pictures now TB? Just wondering if you want ketchup with those words.. I hear it makes them go down easier Knight.. I hope you can survive long enough to get out some of your models and stay in the fight here.. I plan to get more done this week.. so the gap will increase.. and once you are back ( this month right? ) you are eligible to get bumped officially from the competition here.. would be a shame to let it play out all this time and then see you under perform mate.. Cheers for the points TB.. much obliged.. thanks for the motivation to get it all done as well.. my club will thank you for it.. Gris

I'm not talking to you anymore grisnik. -.- *wink* great job buddy I've got to dig up SOMETHING to paint up for my marines now! I've got a few scouts but I'm having a challenging time figuring out how I want to configure them and what role I want them to play on the field. I think I've got 4 or 5 marines I can put together too but it's really about shelling out some coin and getting something to paint...oh and I can do a rhino too (though I'm out of DA forgeworld kits and don't know what I want to do with the transport thing - razorbacks or rhinos, tis the question!).

Oh your marines are supposed to be Dark Angles, Tboy? They don't look like DAs at all. They look really reddish and not even a bit green like they should. But perhaps it's just your cam or my display.
