haha, we'r all gonna need to put magnets into our turrets and guns so we can switch em out. but still 180 shots, ca. 100-120 hits(maybe more maybe less) where 60-70 wounds, against orks, they'll fail 90% of their saves. now thats how you make hord players cry

I think mathia's right. This reads like a bit of fanboy wishfull thinking to me. Why would you take an Exterminator when you could have a heavy 20 main gun!? Plus the ability to move a LRBT a potential 21' or fire all it's guns!?
Would be great to see the Penal Legion squad making a come back into the main list - Ah the glory days of rt when we could take human bombs!

I think we'll be very jammy to get everything, however if even half these rumours are true, Guard will finally have what the fluff has always promised - the true "treadhead" army!
I'm very exciting about the new hellhound, Ok so you lose the 24" template shot, but it looks like the vehicle will be upgraded to 'fast', which means it can fire on top of a 12" movement (or 18" on roads), 12 plus 12 makes the hellhound equally dangerous...
That said, rumour also has it that Sentinels and Hellhounds (and therefore probably some of the 'lightweight variants) will be deployed as attachments to platoons - meaning that you can field up to six alongside the heavy support choices. This means that the "mechanised infantry" options like Sentinels and Hellhounds get VERY interesting.
The combinations of Bassies, heavy mortars et cetera also means that we can tailor our armaments specifically for different armies and roles - just like the sort of uber-buffing the SMurf's have recieved.
Finally, there is the icing on the cake, rumour has it - back track through Bell of Lost Souls for details - that the command squad will become VERY interesting.
Commissar Colonels are mentioned in this posts, but rumour is talking about Navy commanders (with orbital command weapons) and other variants (along the whole SMurf codex approach) - this could mean a level of tailoring we haven't even considered.
Plus a nice thick codex with 100 pages of fluff would be lovely.
Anyone else a bit excited??

marines did get nasty... and ill admit the guard do need a update horribly. however i still have to say and keep in mind i do not mean to be a party pooper but i just think alot of this stuff is he said she said rumors flying around. i do not play guard and i am sure that fact right there is going to cause me to catch alot of flak from all of u but i just do not see all of that going into a codex. like i stated above i do agree that the guard are under powered right now and yest the marines did get nasty but look at there new dex and then ur "new dex" i don't care what any of you say none of you would ever be able to call a marine army cheesy again, and before u all get up in arms about me being a whinny marine player... i play eldar so I'm completely neutral. didn't mean to step on toes if i did. mathia

certainly didn't step on my toes mathia, I play IG, SMurfs, and Eldar(among others...)
there are still only so many slots available on the force organization chart and I think that will help limit the cheese factor a lot, personally I don't believe anything short of maxing out on every killer unit in your army and taking all the special characters you can have along with a serious over dose of land raiders is all that cheesy, even then those cheese ball lists can still be beaten, they've porbably spent way to many points for what they're actually getting.
are these rumors to be taken with a grain of salt? sure! is it possible they will all be ture? maybe... is it possible that at least some of them might be true? absolutely!!
Hey, a new craftworld Eldar codex would be neat, just not enough fluff in the current one. Lets hope all the new codices get plenty of love in the background department.

There is no doubt in my mind that some of them are true, all i am trying to get across is that i personally would not get my hopes up about getting all of that. and yes a craft world codex would be awesome.. Along with a chaos legion one. I played smurfs up until just a few weeks ago when i sold my roughly 5000 point army of ultramarines. i don't know.. i mean i could see them giving u guys all the Russ variants, even some of the Chimera ones.. but that death strike missile?? that seems like it would be suited for Apocalypse and Apocalypse only

I really don't see the Punisher gattling gun as that amazing of a weapon. I think in the right game, against the proper units its a fantastic weapon. But then again so is the standard Demolisher cannon.
20 shots at BS 3 = 10 hits 10 hits at STR 5 = 5 wounds against T5 / 6-7 against T4 / 8-9 wounds against T3
Couple that with an "average" armor save and you get 1 wound against a Nurgle lord 1 Kill against a Terminator squad 2 Kills against a Marine Equipped Army 3-5 Kills Vs Gene Stealer (depending on the armor save of course) 6 Kills Vs. Dark Eldar / Eldar, Guard, and Tau
Not terrible overall, but I still think that I would take a standard issue Demolisher cannon over it. Even the Twinlinked 4 shot autocannon has 24" more range, 2 more STR (helping wounding and tank killing) and AP with Twin Linking. So out of your three hit average you get close to the same kills, the ability to destroy a light tank and double the range for cross table engaging.
I bet it will be a hell of a bullet magnet tho. NOTHING puts the fear of the Emperor in an enemy like rolling twenty dice for a tanks main gun!

Neat. Dunno if I'd pay $50 for that as a glorified transport, but still neat.

Yah, I can't see the 20-shot tank being true, and I think there's a mistranslation in the LRBT movement options. It's probably something like 6 +D6" to represent it's slowness. But the fire all sponsons choice seems reasonable enough, and I am excited for all those new tanks.
But I cannot understand why Smurf players would complain: YOU HAVE PSYCHOTIC VETERANS WHO DROP FROM THE SKIES, AND ARMOURED SUITS THAT CAN SHRUG OFF A KRAK MISSILE, AND A TANK THAT IS BOTH A TRANSPORT AND HAS AV14 ALL AROUND.
Rolling Thunder has become most wrathful......

Only difference I see is the Lazcannon on the sides is a little different and the angle of the wing tip engines. But overall, great looking! Ive always loved the Apache Helicopter look.

Wow! Loving the Valk! A nice, big, detailed model, that'll make a nice practical army centre-piece the way a Chaos Daemon or S.M. Landraider does. I take it it'll have a flyer base? I won't be able to resist making 'Whoosh...NeyaAAWWWWMMM!' Noises when I move it on the table. And I turn thirty this year. If I didn't have a hot fiance, that'd be tragically sad.

It's not the regular games that non guard players should be worried about if this tank list is for real. Think about what will happen when the new codex meets Apocalypse games for the first time. All of these wonderful tanks and no FOC to hold them in check anymore. I see a gun line of various Russ' parked in front of a lot of indirect fire ordinance. Nothing will stand against the Guard. We won't even need to have troops on the table, if there are no more models to shoot at it's an automatic win.

I heard recently that the tank list won't be making it, although lots of armour will be present. We shall have to wait and see. February is already 1/3 finished. Then we'll just have 2 months left to wait. Man, I can't wait for it any longer, though! I'm so excited! And my birthday is only a month and a half afterwards, so I'll have a chance to proxy everything in small games and see what's useful and what should go on my wish list! Lucky me!
