That would suck if you got hit by a leman russ shell mid flight. "Fungus and Gentlemen, we will be hitting a slight bit of turbulence as we hit the flak barrier, but we are confidant we can land you right where you need to be.... Wait, why is there no flak? No we can't have gotten lucky you nitwit, all I see are Leman russes... Oh sweet lord" *Shell shears the airplane tip to end before detonating and showering every plane with fiery fragments of hot ork.*

The Hydra has an AA platform that allows it to hit Aircraft at its normal balistic skill, rather than on a six, if I remember correctly.

Even if 70% of the tank news and all the new bitz and scaling down of catachan arms and plasma cannon sentinels was false...
AT LEAST A GUARDSMAN WOULD BE CHEAPER THAN A FETHING ORK.
I mean come on, one on one, an ork will take a guardsman apart. 6 pts. for an ork is Ridiculous enough! But with a single line doggie dropping down to 4 points, it'll be easier to squeeze in That many more meatshiel... er... Valiant Heroes of the Mobile Infantr.... um.... Stalwart Imperial Guardsmen.
I would very much like, just for kicks and grins, for someone to field a tournament guard army, 2000 points or whatever, of straight infantry, no armor or nothing. Just hundreds and hundreds of troops. If they were 4 pts a piece... even with a command squad... and say, meltas or something, just so they'll survive a Little bit... That's approaching 400+ guardsmen, maybe closer to 500. Can you KILL that many models in 6 turns?

I sincerely doubt you could....though it would be cool to see. It would be priceless to see the look on your opponents face when you begin to deploy."Hey man give me about 20 minutes to place my troops...go grab a coke or lunch..i'm sure I won't be done by the time you get back." HAHA too bad most tournies your time is limited per turn. Though it would be neat to do that.

That would be the best.
500 guardsmen in one 2000pt game=EPIC WIN. ;D
If the rumour about 55pt chimera are true i'll be able to use my 10-15 chimeras that have just been sitting there. I'll create a new guard regiment. Chimera's, hellhounds, russ's the works. "Enemies of the emporer! Feel the fury of the iron broadside!"

Lord knows you can paint them fast enough. I wouldn't be able to muster 200 infantry, let alone 500.

I have an Eldar Friend That I crunched the numbers with. IF he took maximum shooting ability with little to no anti-tank, with guardians maxed out with Scatter- lasers, 9 war-walkers with two scatter-lasers etc. @ 2000 pts, and IF he suffered no casualties in return, had good rolls all game, and I had no cover, than he could kill the largest possible army fielded by the current Dex, in 6 turns. barely. which goes something like this: 6 Platoons maxed= 330 1 command platoon maxed= 35 Rough Riders = 30 Eliyes = 30 Heavy = 29 total = 454 Note that this does not currently fit in 2000 pts. but if cost drop the way I expect them to........let's just say it'll be close minus the RR.
What this means, is that, no. no-one will be able to table if you do this, except orks. Learn how to include speciffic ways of dealing with the three orks nastys in every list, without making yourself vulnerable to others, for they will be your greatest threat for many years to come.

As it should be. Orks v. Guard should always be tense and enjoyable.

Command PLatoon = officer + 4 + up to five support squads, the largest of which is 6 a piece, thus 5x6-= 30. plus command squad si 35. Viola!

Well, now that I'm done soiling myself with joy over all of the new tanks, I re-read the weapon profiles, and a few things caused my eyebrow to quirk....
Hellguns: Str3 AP3 R18- This basically turns your Stormies into MEQ eaters. Not too sure about that 18in range though, as it's still a Rapid Fire weapon.
Chemical Cannon: Str 1 AP3- Str1? What? This thing is weaker then our lasguns. I'm not even sure it could wound MEQs, so that AP 3 wouldn't matter.
Melta Cannon: Str8 AP1- This is exactly like a Multimelta, but with the edition of a blast template. Could be good.
Also, I noticed this Character Master of Ordinance- I like the sound of this. He probably has something to do with that Leman Russ Squadron rule we heard about a while back. Also, I would like business cards with that title on them to hand out to people who just fought my Armoured Company.
I'm not sure if these new characters require a Command Squad, but if they do, I hope the 0-1 limit on them is removed. Honestly, no one is going to take the Fleet Officer, Astropath, or the above mentioned Master of Ordinance if it means your entire army is running around with Ld. 7. That said, the profile for the Sgt. says he has Ld. 8......
