Glad to help Scarper! Your green stuffing looks really good, especially Coop. I'm looking forward to seeing this latest batch of conversions painted up!

Very nice, but could we see some more pics on the gang leader? It's hard to see the proportions in the position she is in.

Continuing the high quality I see - good on you Scarper!
On the new male model, the bit I'm most impressed with (and has been least commented on) is the remodelling and addition to his hair. It's lifelike and appropriate, two qualities that are easily overlooked and rarely seen in conjunction with each other. Little details and conversions like this, though subtle, can sometimes make a model really come to life.

I've just started an IG army for UK conflict 2011, and I've made it and have a rough idea painting it. I wanted to make a vet squad, and much like scarper I'll name each one after the people who reply. Photos up soon. Thanks.

Hey again everyone! Been away from the IGMB for about a month (I'm sure you all totally noticed ), so sorry for the abscence! Few medical issues over Christmas, I'm sure you understand. Does give me a chance to read through a proper plethora of updates on all the threads I'm following though, so bonus there! Not much update either, I'm afraid - been out of action a while. Picked up my brushes again today though, so hopefully haven't deteriorated too much @vesuvius - Thanks a lot! Glad you like @er? Ymoot? - Hahaha, thank you so much! That's incredibly flattering, I'm blushing! Yeah, Hannah's always been really interested in my models and stuff, but til recently I've been pretty embarrassed about it - I'm slowly teaching her some painting and stuff (or would have been over the last couple of weeks...), but she has really specific ideas for what she wants her gang members to look like, so sculpting is taking me a while! She wants to try some games though, so I might put a few proxies together. Will let you know! Dedrier - Hahaha, thank you. And I'll ignore the first comment Walrus - Seriously? You read the whole thing? Thank you! I don't think I could read the whole thing, and I wrote most of it! That's really really nice of you to say - I learned a lot of stuff from you guys, so I ought to be thanking the lot of you! I'm really sorry, but the 'Join the Remnants' thread was actually retired a while ago - it got waaaay too big for me to handle. I have something similar in mind for the near future, though, (on a smaller scale, obvs) so keep your eyes out! Though I'm quite tempted to put together a model for you anyway seeing as youre being so nice to me Trooper One-Nine-Seven-Four - thanks again, and I'm glad you like em. I've got a new one painted for today! igdude - Of course! I'll post up some pics with the next update. @gabe - Thanks so much! Again, that's really flattering, and pretty undeserved, I'm sure I'm really glad you picked out his hair in particular though - I always feel little changes to the hair and face can add the most character to a model, so I've been trying to improve my sculpting in those areas especially. This style was actually pretty easy to do - I used a metal pin with no vaseline to 'lift' areas of GS after making sure it was firmly on his scalp. It's a little tricky not to pull everything off at first, but once you get the hang of it, it makes some natural looking spikes karlfranz - Do you mean my vets? Or what colour should you do yours? Cause you'll probs need to provide a bit more info either way... Removed - Thanks so much! It's really nice of you to say so. Today's update is Riggs and Loki, painted up. Hope you like em, paint jobs not the best, but I'm just getting back into the swing And a natural light shot: Finally, Coop managed to roll specialist on his last skill gain (seriously! ), so I'm trying to equip him with a flamer that won't wreck his profile. I figured a big IG job would be ridiculous in the underhive (they all seem to break after 1 shot anyway, so why would you lug that thing around!?), so would anyone object to this being a flamer? I'm worried it looks more like a super soaker! Great to be back, and sorry again for going AWOL. Would love to hear your thoughts!

I always notice when you're away, considering you always seem to update right as I get on.
And supersoakers ARE flamers. You just don't load them with water... I think it looks fine. Maybe with a pilot light on the tip.

Ok, this double posted, then spontaneously deleted itself, but here goes again!: Aww, thanks for the welcome back, you two! I will totally add a pilot light to the flamer (dunno how I didn't think of that : , and walrus: this new project may or may not involve a certain forum and a certain skirmish game, so there may or may not be a lot more freedom in what you can ask for than the uniformity of the IG! Not that I'm giving you any hints or anything New updates for today! Not that big though. Here's a slightly blurry pic of the painted guys so far (though 2 still need basing): From left to right: Ferret, Crow, Skragg, Twitch, Riggs, Loki And these are my current WIPs, at various stages: From left to right: RiffRaff, Murdock, Farrel, Coop, Coop's head. I'm hoping they'll all look pretty coherent when I'm done! I've also finished up a long overdue base for Skragg. It doesn't look like much, but I used some new techniques, and I'm very happy with it. Hope you like it too! Fluff update to come over the next few days, but I'd love to hear your opinions in the meantime! EDIT: WOO I think it worked this time ;D

Hahaha, thanks so much kerby! Can't believe you reread the whole thing - that's incredibly flattering! Long time no see too - you were one of the first people I remember off the IGMB I'll see if I can add the cross at some point, though do you relate more to the bike rider, or the latest heavy stubber guy? And you should post some pics of your guys if you can - I know I'd love to see them! (and I definitely won't steal any ideas or anything, honest!) Update today is part 1 of 2 of Skragg's story (the guy with the stubber and the mohawk). The speaker is Riggs, and I'm hoping the voice I've given him isn't too corny. Hoping to do something like this for every model, with Riggs talking through the team to a newcomer. Might see how this one goes down first though! I'm trying to get the 'shades of grey' vibe of Necromunda, but I'm pretty sure this is OTT. Let me know what you think, anyway! The guy with the...? Oh, you mean Skragg! Big guy, spiked hair, doesn’t talk much, carries a gun that looks like you couldn’t lift it? Yeah, that’ll be him. Don’t take offence or anything, he doesn’t talk to anyone. He’ll smile at you, laughs at jokes and that, but he’s been with us for years and I never heard him say a word. Nothing wrong with his head though - You know he built that gun himself? Two autoguns, few pipes from a condenser we found out near Saltash, couple of rings out of an old piston, Throne, I don’t know. Put it all together with that welding gun on his hip. Makes his own bullets, too! Keep an eye on him next time we’re out in the wastes. He stops every now and again, picks stuff up and pockets it. Trash, utter junk. The kind of thing you don’t look twice at, but give it a week and it’s part of a firing mechanism, or he’s put an autoloader on your shotgun. Murdock reckons he’s some kind of idiot savant, but I’m sure he’s all there. Just keeps himself to himself, y’know? Just cause someone don’t talk, doesn’t mean they don’t know how to.
His story isn’t the happiest though – you sure you want to hear it? Well, take a smoke, it’s kind of an epic. Nah, don’t worry bout it, got packs of them back at camp. Factory uphive gives ‘em out to anyone who asks – figured they’d stop all the raids that way. Most of their profits are offworld or something, I dunno.
Right, well I can’t tell you about Skragg without telling you about Scout, the kid we met him through. First time I saw either of em, they were in this drinking pit together in Hole, Second Best between them. This was maybe two years back, I think. We’d been following these rumours of some kind of tech stash that had been uncovered near Lent (turned out to be bunk, before you get your hopes up), and Murdock had us out hunting for someone who knew the area. We’d had a fair few choices, loud mouths proclaiming themselves the best around, wanting paid upfront. Crow’s a good judge of these kind of things though, wasn’t having any of it. We’d heard mention of Scout from a few different people, this kid who’d been in town for a few years, supposed to be the go-to guy. He wasn’t like the others – he was calm, relaxed. We’d heard his name and he knew that. He was 16, maybe 17, no older. Sitting at the table with Skragg, this giant of a man, just talking away at him. Told us he’d learnt his way around scavenging for tech to sell for as long as he could remember, and if we wanted a guide in the badlands, he said, he knew routes that few others did. He knew where the local gangs holed up, and where the local wildlife hunted and nested. If that sounded useful to us, he said, we could hire him and his associate for a 10% stake of whatever was found. No questions about what we were looking for, who he’d be working with. He was good to his word, too. While he was with us, raids went smoother, we didn’t get ambushed once, and no one got et by sumphounds.
He was a great guy, too. Generous with what he had, great sense of humour. Laughed at himself – not many men around who’ll do that, a real rare quality. He was always with Skragg though, just talking to him. The guy never replied, of course, but he always listened, and listened intent – had that look, you know what I mean? Just complete concentration. Always together. They were more than just friends – maybe that way, maybe not. Never felt it was my business to ask.
He told me they’d been partners in the scavenging business since they were kids – they’d been slaves together, working a chem pit in the Northern Wastes. Do you remember Derrick? No? Ah, well, little settlement to the North West, got overrun by the QA maybe 10 years ago. Everyone killed or captured, Scout and Skragg included. Reckoned he was 6 years old at the time. Second night they were in the mines, a friend of his dad’s, a barkeep named Garret, caved in the skull of their guard and made a run for it with four of the neighbourhood kids in tow. You ever met the QA? They’re pretty soulless, even by badlands standards. One of the kids was shot in the head as they ran, and Garret took a bullet to the gut, bled out in a dome 2 hours later. That left three of them. Skragg, aged maybe 7, Scout, and an older kid named Relleck. They did what any kids would do in the situation – panic. Scout wanted to go South, keep running until they found another settlement. He’d heard horror stories of what happened to kids who tried to pass through the hive on their own, but he knew it had to be better than the fate that waited for them in the mines. Relleck wanted to go back, thought that if they returned, hands in the air, they’d let them rejoin the chain gang as if nothing had happened. They’d have been crucified, for sure – the QA don’t forgive the killing of one of their own. Skragg, as always, said nothing. They argued for a few minutes before Relleck pulled the pistol off Garret’s belt and pointed it straight at Scout. For a few minutes, no one did anything. No one knew what to do. Scout cried. He told me that - no bravado, you see? They stood there, for what felt like minutes, just looking at eachother. Eventually, Relleck realised the position he was in. He broke into a smile, and told them to walk. He could at least save himself, he told em, if he bought the escapees back. He'd tell the QA he'd caught them trying to make a run for it, thought he'd be a hero. He told em he wouldn't care if they got boiled alive. Without a second’s hesitation, Skragg elbowed the kid in the face, put him flat on his back. He broke his wrist and took the pistol - Relleck was writhing on the floor. He shot him three times (slow and deliberate), then wordlessly handed the pistol to Scout. Without a credit between them, they headed South, into the badlands. You may have noticed that Scout does not have a model - this may be a hint as to how he fared in his first few games. If you like this, please let me know - I could use some motivation to write the second half!

Aw, that sucks! The camera breaking, that is - if your gf gave you an ultimatum like that, it sounds like you're better off without her. I am indeed using my gang for necro at the moment, and played quite a few games. It's way more fun than I thought it would be, and give you looooooads of creativity to update and change things when guys get injured or 'acquire' new gear ;D I am not looking forward to people getting killed though - when you spend hours making a character and they've lived through a bunch of fights it's a bit of a wrench when they finally don't get back up... I'd be well interested in your old guard if you can find some pics, mate. But you should make a thread, so everyone gets to see em! Thanks a lot for your kind words, too Not much of an update today, but here's a teaser over what's coming next - hope you like it! (or at least recognise it!)

Ok, yes, the teaser update was a bit crap. I can live with that. I know it's bucking a trend and everything, but it's time for an update with some actual content! Here's Farrel, the gang sawbones, and owner of a fancy one-in-a-million plasma rifle. I need to clean up his chest a little, which I noticed after uploading the photos. Will be done soon! Hope you like him, and I'd love any comments or criticisms you might have! Positive or negative comments welcomed, so fire away, guys!

He's looking really good! I especially like the graffiti on the wall, notably the spiky, toothy red thing. The weathering on the plasma gun is also quite excellent.

That plasma gun looks brilliant and rusty... However I'm surprised there isn't a slight glow effect on the plasma coils, the way it is doesn't really appeal that much to me

Fluff was as always, very cool. The models and conversions are great, but it's the background that brings it all togeather for me.
One question... You switched from an IG army on an abandoned world to a Necromunda style gang?

@trooper 1974 - Hehehe, thank you! The spiky dinosaur thing was really fun to do as well. It was nice to use some bright colours in amongst all the grimdark. Walrus - That's ok, and thanks for being honest! It's totally a personal thing, but I've never really been a fan of the blue glow type plasma weapons - They just seem a little OTT to me. I thought the copper coil seemed like an equally viable scifi technique for forming plasma (what a ridiculous sentence!), and seemed to fit my gang better. That, and I'm terrible at OSL Thanks for the comment, though! Romer - Thanks so much! I'm never very confident with my writing, so it's always really nice to know if someone likes it As to the necromunda thing, I think I explained the crossover a while back, but I should probably have made it clearer. The two projects are pretty connected: Caitiff, the planet the Remnants are from, is quite large and has two small hive cities. As the Remnants are constantly needing supplies and to train new recruits, scavenger units consisting of a couple of veterans and several green troopers are usually sent to various locales to search out new sources of food or gear, as well as training the newbies in the process. The 21st Jackals (my gang) are one such cell. I've not given up on the Remnants - I just wanted to do something that let me be a little more creative for a while. Hope that explains a few things! @er - (Courtesy of Ymmot's amazing art - thanks again Ymmot!) WHAT IS SO HARD TO FOLLOW ABOUT THE TIGER?!

Hehehe, thanks Gabe!! How did you know exactly what I was going for? Today's update has kind of a story behind it. One of my major necro opponents is my flatmate. He's really got into it since I've started a narrative going through our games (nothing good though, don't get excited ), and he has been using some proxy models of mine until he can get a few guys of his own together. We've played a fair few games now, and some of our characters have a bit of a history. One of his gangers, by the name of "Scat", has been a real badass in several games, and really held his own against some pretty tough odds. Unfortunately, in our latest scrap he took a bit of a pounding (through no fault of mine! Fluff update will reveal all...), and ended up rolling "multiple injuries". Now my flatmate's leader is pretty heartless, and when he ended up with a blind, partially deaf, one armed ganger, he elected to leave him to die in the rubble. I was having none of this however, and I managed to talk him into letting me take on this crippled ganger, minus his equipment (which obviously would have been looted by his previous friends as he slowly bled out). I happened to have some bionics and a few bits of kit in my gang stash, and here's "Blind" (it's all he'll answer to ), back on his feet, and with a new hatred for all things Orlock. He'll be getting a lot of burns and scars in his paintjob, and both pupils will (hopefully) be a milky gray. The flak is 'acquired' arbite armour, and if all goes to plan, it'll have 'arbite' stencilled somewhere on it. Full story will be in the next update! Hopefully you can see some of Blind's bionics, but I'm sure I'll do a little more detailing before he's finished. As always, please let me know what you think, and all criticism is happily welcomed!

Nicely modeled and nicely painted. Your ideas for converting these models are well thought-out.
I agree that the plasma coils should be 'glowing'. I usually do purple, then a highlight of purple and white mixed together, but it can be any color, really.
I don't like that knife placement on Blind, though. I would have it lower down on the chest, point up. Where its at, it looks like its about to fly off!

@vesuvius - Thank you! Would needs to improve his painting be acceptable? @pax Urbis Pax Imperi - (henceforth to be known as PUPI ) Thank you for your honest words. I know what you mean about the plasma glow effect, and how a plasma gun can look a little naked without it. I might have to reconsider. Thanks for the tip on the knife as well - I was going for an 'easily drawn' kinda look (someone had a similar one in Platoon, which I saw recently!), but the knife could be too big for that. I'll try out some other positions, and see what I can do. Today's update is a bit of a rubbish fluff one, something I wrote in 15 minutes as a revision break. It's the start of a campaign I'm planning, and also a bit of character development for Farrell. The structure of the 'loading' bit before the story starts is ripped off directly from some of Migsula's fluff off Dakka Dakka, so I'm really hoping he won't mind Hope you like it!
