Scarper, the thing that I've really enjoyed most about your work is the effort you put into building up a background and fluff story for each of the characters you've made. It really helps them become proper characters that you can almost associate with and feel for - this is something that I'm most centred on in the hobby, so it's always a joy to see others taking the same kind of time and patience with!
Sorry to hear you're having troubles at home, and especially regarding the funeral (been to more funerals than I would have liked myself, so I know they can be hard and trying times) - Not sure it will mean much, but you certainly have my sympathy (and probably that of others on the board at this time) and I'll be hoping things improve for you.

Lol I can imagine fielding skragg as a penal trooper and rolling a 1-2 on the desperadoes dice, it would be perfect to just say "Gun-sling THIS!"
Sorry to hear about the funeral, not much else I can say.

Really quick update, as I totally don't have time for this, but here's some progress: Base for Crow: Blind (originally called Jackdaw - will explain in future!): Group shot: THINGS TO DO: - Fix Murdock's arm camo - Build lightbox - Take decent pictures of FINISHED GANG I'll respond to all your existing comments as soon as I get a chance, probably tomorrow. Thanks so much, and I promise I will get round to them! Speedily, Scarp

Right, I have a few minutes, so time for some replies ;D Shostak(AWOL) - Thank you, that's very kind! In terms of the fluff, it's rather extensive. Here's a little summary blurb I wrote a while ago though: Ridgeway's Remnants are a scavenger force made up of the remains of various guard forces and civilians abandoned during an evacuation from a planet ravaged by civil war. Once a relatively rich planet, when the veins of ore beneath Caitiff's surface was exhausted, so was its use to the Imperium. Offworld contact came less and less often, and eventually rebellion over rising poverty and terrible conditions threw the planet into civil war. Conflict ravaged the planet, and after the destruction of several processing planets released huge quantities of toxins into the atmosphere, it was decided that an evacuation of loyal citizens was the best solution. With a callous government and little interest from offworlders, woefully few evac points were arranged as bandits and rebel forces blockaded the roads. Large numbers of the population were left stranded on the wartorn and anarchic planet. Ridgeway's forces themselves are mostly surviving soldiers of the PDF, along with any civilians who joined and trained. They hold a few military bases and city areas, with a community of farmers and workers protected by the military force. The current timeline of my forces is about 15 years after the botched evac. Most of the Remnant's opponents are other opportunistic survivors and gangs, and they use a lot of improvised gear, tending to be pretty battered and weathered. The Caitiff Jackals (a name Ridgeway could never get to stick, even among his own men) favour sneaky tactics, fighting light and fast but using no wheeled / tracked vehicles or heavy weapons at all. Murdock's men are a 'Jackal' cell - a combination training and scavenger unit that are sent into the wastes to find anything worth recovering and learn to fight and survive. There's a lot more, but hopefully that'll whet your appetite! And seriously, thanks a lot for the interest @gabe - Thank you, that is a huge compliment. And I think that is exactly the reason your inquisitorial retinues are among my favourite projects on here too! I appreciate that a lot of people collect for the gaming side, but it's always been about fluff and modelling for me, even if I'm not that amazing yet Soon though! Thank you very much for your kind words too, it's very nice of you to say so. The funeral was unwelcome if not unexpected, but I know that it's just a part of life, and he told us before he went that he didn't want anyone to feel sad. It's hard, but I'm trying to stick to that, and I really appreciate your good wishes @beav - hehehe, that would be brilliant! And thanks for your kind words too. Hopefully you'll like this next bit: FIRST (rubbish) UPDATE ON THE ROLL CALL HERE

Hey all! Really quick update again I'm afraid. Just a WIP update to show I'm still alive - work is still a little crazy, so only been sculpting when I can. I've not managed to finish my light box yet, so fluff and new pics of the Jackals will also have to come later. Now that the Jackals are all but finished, I'm starting a new gang I'll get into their proper fluff later, but for now, they're ex-convicts, so expect lots of improvised armour, jumpsuits and the like. I'm NOT going with day-glo orange, so don't worry! I'd love to show you some WIPs of the model I've been working on for a few days now (he's the gang leader), but he'll hopefully be making an appearance in GGV, so I don't want to spoil anything. I've also got a WIP scavenging juve, utilising a model I've been searching for a use for for aaaages. Don't let the jumpsuit throw you off - they're not all going to look the same. This guy is probably as simple as they will get, more a test of concept really. Hope you like him! He's far from finished, but hopefully it'll give you an idea of the direction I'm heading in. Like anything? Hate anything? Have a few ideas? I would genuinely love to hear. At the start of a new project there's LOADS of space for ideas, so feel free to throw anything you like my way! Thanks for all your input so far, guys!

Looks good!
Am loving the rip in the trousers, it's the details that make good coversions great.

Apologies again for the delay everyone! Work has been a little all-encompassing lately, same old same old. Today's update is some painting. It's not fantastic and it's nothing particularly exciting, but I was dying to get something painted after (hopefully!) coming out of the other side of a busy spell at uni. He was speedily done, but as a tester, I'm pretty happy. Experimented with some oil stains and different kinds of rust. Fluff isn't sorted completely yet, but at least some section of penal jumpsuit will be a requirement for all gangers (though I'm cheating and saying trousers can count!), and they'll be various shades of deep blue and green. The gang will be made up from various strata of society, and they won't all be vicious murderers or the like. Each ganger will end up with a mini story, same as with the Jackals (and I know I still owe you some fluff for them too!). There's a lot more to them, but I can't really go any further without giving away my GGV entry a bit! More to come as I sort it out in my head as well. For now though, I can give a name: the Quadring Accord. Hope you like! As always, all comments are appreciated, good or bad. Thank you for all your support so far!

I like it, the gas mask came out well and you did an excellent job painting it. Overall it reminds me of the Fallout 3 aesthetic which I think is the look you were going for so mission accomplished on that. Is he not going to have a ranged attack or are you going to use the muffler/exhaust pipe he's carrying as a counts as gun of some sort?

He's looking really good. I love the visor on the gas mask, and the rust effects on the heavy stubber barrel look excellent!

Alright guys! Been a while, for which I apologise. Mostly been working on my GGV entry (which you can hopefully see tomorrow!) and slaving away during a ridiculously busy time at uni. Hopefully more updates to come soon though! @beav(burger) - Thank you! ogguardsman - Thanks so much for the kind words! That's a really big compliment, as it really is the vibe I was shooting for ;D The muffler will count as a "massive club" in Necromunda: this character is more of a scavenger / scout, and if he gets caught in a fight, it's purely improvised. Until he gets a better weapon, at least @trooper 1974 - Thanks a lot, man, I really appreciate that! I was in two minds about the visor, but I'm glad you like it. The rust effect was inspired by Nathaniel Thorne's 'Painting Entropy' thread (though the technique isn't exactly the same), so all the credit belongs with him. Thanks for posting it, if you're reading! @reds - That's really kind, thanks a ton for the good wishes, and the compliments ;D I still can't show you my GG entry (though I really want to!), so as penance, here's my current WIP head ( very early WIP), and a very quick photoshop of his future pose. The colours are probably subject to change though As always, all C&C welcomed. Thanks so much for all your support so far, and sorry for the rubbish update!

Wow, thank you guys, that's some high praise you're doling out! Walrus - Thanks so much, I really appreciate that Removed - Thanks a ton, though I think you're being too generous! A whole bunch of what I've learnt has come from suggestions from people on the IGMB, so most of any progress I've made is down to you lot Work is hitting me pretty hard at the mo, but I've got some time off for Summer in about a month and a half, so I'll try to pack as much modelling as I can into that ;D cheminhaler - Thank you so so much - I don't really know what to say! Thank you Now, exams exams deadlines project work exams - I'm starting to sound like a broken record. Not much progress this week, but here's an idea of how this ganger's evolving. The R hand is the first one I've ever sculpted from scratch (3 fingers in the first pic, 5 in the second - he's evolving! ), and the L will have an oil can once it's done. Hope you like, and sorry it's a bit of a lame update! (again) With a little more work on the hand and the fuel can: And finally, a sawn-off shotgun I made from a damaged larger version. With laspistol for scale! Not much, but thought someone could maybe use the conversion Hope you like, and I'll have a fluff update some time this weekend. Oooh, and one of the GGV entries is mine, in case you hadn't checked it out yet!

Walrus - which bit? Do you mean the pistols? Trooper One-Nine-Seven-Four - Thank you, and they are! I've had a bit of trouble mounting them to models, but it depends how much GS work you want to do :/ Here's one I did a while back just by just clipping bits off and reposing: I haven't done much with them to be honest - I'm loathe to cut them up when they look so pretty! Removed - Hahaha, thank you! cheminhaler - Thanks so much! If they look segmental, that's probably more chance than anything. I'm glad you like them though! Thanks a lot for the links as well, some of those weapons look amazingly useful. And I might not be able to resist a daschund-drawn chariot for my Scavvy gang leader Today's update is a WIP of my reworking of Murdock, the Jackal leader. I don't like the current model, and it was annoying me in games, so I thought I'd throw together a replacement! He's obviously still WIP, but the idea is to have him leaning around a corner on uneven ground, at roughly the angle he is in the pictures. More a concept than a model at the mo, but hope you like The base model is Captain Jonas Murdoch (I only just realised he has the same name - spooky!), from Privateer Press. This guy: NOT MY WORK NOT MY WORKI really need to make a few comments on most of you lot's blogs - have been swamped lately, and I've been lurking for too long! Hopefully some time tomorrow, when I need a break from revision. Thanks for all your input!
