It... it's done! I've completed my first EVER squad of any models ever. Ever. A tear is welling up in my eye, guys. It's... it's a moment. Here they are: And here's a couple of close ups of the last 2 days work ;D Sgt. Stoat and the Squad hunting hound Trooper Griffin They're not perfect, but I owe any semblance of good to all to you lot for your amazing advice and painting tips and that, so thanks so much. Only 8-odd squads of the same to do now Comments and criticism would be hugely welcomed! Plus I was thinking of rusting up their armour a little. Good plan? Bad plan? Any rust-related pearls of wisdom? Cheers again ALSO - In recognition of all you lot being so super helpful, I'd love for someone to name my Lieutenant. He's pictured below, and I'll take all suggestions and put them to the vote! I'm gonna name a squaddie after everyone who has commented so nicely on one of my threads as well, so we'll see how it goes EDIT: All credit to rewolf for the awesome bolter conversion - forgot to mention it, my bad ;D

Looking really good, you should be proud The eyes could do with a black dot, though - they're looking a bit zombified at the moment And your painting skills will get better the harder you try (Mine were stuck at the 'sh*t' level until I actually started to think about what I was doing, and look up some tips ). You can see the variation in the squad already as to which ones you've done most recently. One note - MOULD LINES FASDGFDAGADFGDFGFDFADGH Also, looks like you could do with thinning your paints (yes, more ;D) All that said - job well done, be proud As for a name - for some reason I'm seeing 'François', but I don't know why. Perhaps he looks a bit European... a bit hardcore. I dunno. W/ever

Pens? For the eyes? I use a Pigma micron 005. It's almost an invisible dot; you've gotta build-up the pupil. As for rust, Testor's Model Master Enamel Rust is amazing. You can do some crazy stuff 'cause it's enamel, too.
Say the dog has some cyber-implants (las pistol) and is a bodyguard.
The Lt. -- At first I thought: Mephistopheles... but, you don't want to write that on the base, do you. How about Grover?
A squad member named after me? Give me a flamer or heavy flamer. I can't imagine something more fun.

@ ReWolf - Yeah, mould lines. Cursed things. I've tried to thin my paints more too, but they end up so watery that they run miles down cracks and stuff, and into places I don't want them to be. Might finally have a go at that wet pallate though, i guess I will get round to dotting the eyes too, have spent ages looking for a pen to do it with! (see below) Cheers for the continued advice though - you were one of the first people to help me out a month or so back with that sentinel! ElegaicRequiem - Thanks for the tips! I'll have a google of them, see if there are any suppliers near me. The bodyguard idea is nice too - maybe i can slap a bale eye on him ;D I'll get your name down on the next flamer I paint - any preferences, or is 'Elegiac' alright? EDIT: Just ordered a black one off ebay, as well as a white 1mm paint pen for writing on armour. Cheers!

Requiem for the base; elegaic is the adjective, requiem the noun. Thanks.

I have RETURNED (yeah, yeah, noone noticed that I was gone, whatever ). Whilst self-imposed exile while I crammed for my exams was doubtless fun times, I got some models made too! What do you lot think? This is Sgt. Faulks (who you’ve seen before!). He needed a lil bit of an upgrade for the new codex (damn ‘no shotguns for sergeants’ business…), so he got a promotion to vet, a power fist, and a bit of a shinier paint job (I can do eyes now!). Any guesses where the power fist came from? Another vaguely incompetent heavy weapons crew, and a foray into green stuffing. This is a WIP Cpt. Ridgeway – the glue holding my band of survivors together. I can’t decide whether to give him camo to show he’s at home and pally with the other soldiers, or leave him high and mighty with a slightly different uniform :/ Just a squad sgt. I liked the look of – notice the improvised armour! I was really proud of making this conversion to represent Al’Rahem using some leftover bits from the pistoliers box (I’m having a go at rough riders!), when I found out that Suneokun has made a better bloody version of almost exactly the same thing on his amazing blog (http://pathfinder-devilin.blogspot.com/2009/05/galaxy-quest-model-conversions-and-cfhb.html) while I was still self-banned from the board. Arses. Here’s my one anyway And finally, here’s the basic layout for another mortar team. I was sprue-ninjaing to get as many teams as possible out of one HW box and didn’t have a stand for the mortar – do you reckon it works? Would love some comments from you lot – I’ve missed you all! *sniff*

Wow! This are really good conversions! I'm not good with GS but this inspired me to try something... And I like your conversion from Lasgun to Shotgun. Simple and very effective. Cheers Batou

Thanks! I'm far from expert with GS, and I got the proportions on the guy's arm a little wrong, but it's really fun to play with, even if what you're doing is pretty simple. Plus, I'm now really proud of that model cause it's something I made ;D The shotgun on the sergeant is actually made from a flamer, but it's kinda hard to tell from the angle Cheers for the compliment!

When you put that on the table, the other guy should give you KP right then and there. That's too awesome. That should be your avatar -- Awesomesly is awesome. And the mortar propped-up on the fence is good. The ML loader's eyes frighten me in a good way -- he looks ready to shoot something. Looking forward to more (including the flametrooper named for me )

Hahaha, wow, thanks for so much positive feedback! I wasn't even going to have sly in my army, but when i thought of Snake's magic invisibox, I just had to give it a go. Cheers again, it feels great when people like something and I really appreciate the comments ;D @requiem - I totally haven't forgotten - you're getting the vet heavy flamer guy, which will be awesome, but may reduce your life expectancy And the ML loader has just been shot, so he's pretty urineed. Was trying to make his buddy look terrified though!

Solid Snake is based off of Snake Plisskin, and sometimes goes by the name of Iroquois Pliskin in the game.

Yeah! I was thinking more of Iroquois Pliskin out of MGSII (it's the last one I played - no new consoles for me! ) Glad someone noticed though ;D
