I'll just point out the respective dates of the pictures posted, and consider your post right there as my credit.
If an idea's good enough to steal, then it was an idea you liked. Thank you.

Any further work on those rough riders Req? Once they're painted and based, I'll wager they'll fit in with the rest of your army better than would be expected.
To help tie them in further with your Gaurd/40k universe, it might be worth sticking a few grenades, holstered laspistols, etc on them? Maybe even work out a way to fit a comm link stle peice of equipment on a rider/horse?

I looked, and I don't have ten holstered laspistols. I have one. I'll do something, but when they're done, they'll fit in somehow. And no, I've not done anything more with them. I've been working on other stuff. They're on my queue of things to do, though.

I just went through and looked at all the pics. I love the paint scheme and especially the conversion work. I think my personal favorite conversion is a lasgun with a chainsaw attached to it. Imperial Guardsman...Gears of War style.

And he's the medic, too. Scalpels are for wusses.
But most of my converting energy is being spent on the secret projects.

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this. This is a picture I'm stealing to say it's the Temple of Saints on Tellius. It's more of a temple complex, really... It's big. That's all you need to know.

Now that's an imposing image... looks really gothic and fits well with the 40k style - where did you get it from?
Will this form part of your background/fluff for the army?

I've been looking for a good pic of it. It's the Guiding Tower (and some surrounding buildings) from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I'm especially happy that the game gave me such a 40K-feeling picture, considering I take most of my character names from that game. Save for three or four others, the rest are from Tales of Symphonia. If you wish to know more about the Temple of Saints, you can read my fluff in these threads: An unfinished battle report in which the building is mentionedThe Battle for Fi'rios (there's other stuff in here too) Letters from Virios (I might not be done with these, we'll see) Dark Eldar short story in 2nd person (just a little exercise in 2nd person, AEthea will be a recurring character in my fluff) and Battle at the Wind Gate (my current project, for which I have high hopes). All my fluff is interconnected, even obscure DH and RT characters. Makes for a rich background for my forces, and how they've interacted with no less than four sectors other than their home sector.

Sell 'em for cash. Use money to buy more IG. Use newly found spare time to take the wife someplace nice. And to read my stuff... Everytime I try to sell them, the person I'm talking to either thinks I'm joking or looks at me strangely before backing away... The wife also gives me an odd look... Nothing a bit of Wine and gently persuasion (Inquisition style ) can't alter though...

Hej ElReq, nice log! I have been starting about the same colourscheme as yours i guess... only mine is red/grey instead of red/black/white. But i do like yours very much too! also, since im new, ill be checking with your updates in how to distinguish normal troopers from penalsquads and such. Do like your work. and i will be watching this log so now i expect regular updates! (read somewhere something about 5 mod's/week? ) keep up the good work. (and i wish i had fluff for my army )

You might find it helpful/useful to use Necromunda Gangers to represent Penal troops - they're on the Games Workshop "Specialist Games" section. This is somethin I've been toying with, and may be my next project.
It also means that you could put quite a mixture of gangers/weapon combinations to individualise each model and to represent the different options they get based on the "Desperadoes" rule.
Other sources for Necromunda Gangers (that may work out cheaper) is the ubiquitous E-bay.

Goliaths work well, I was going to do some Van Sarr as Guardsmen, they also have a nice Heavy Plasma Cannon model too.
Keep the pictures coming too :-)
