I now have the Tyranid codex so I can confirm any rumours you don't already know about.
I also have a Trygon kit, and it's very nice...

Yeah the fex's I is 1, but 3 on the charge.

Thus making the fex pretty much obsolete compared to the faster, more stabby, better protected Trygon. I'm sure the Carnifex will still appear sometimes, but it won't be nearly so abundant, and nidzilla lists a going to be tricky, although I guess you could field 9 fexes, which is nice...

I don't know. The Trygon is probably going to be obscenely expensive, and, as I recall, it only has a 3+ save.
....Can anyone say 'Krak Missile'?

The trygon is only 50 points more than a LRBT. Considering some of the stuff it does, I don't think it's overpriced. And the (even scarier imo) mawloc is 30 points less than the trygon. And I can't recall, but there may be a way to give them a 2+ save.

Nice dirty trick with the mawloc, don't hold it in reserve and then use its burrow ability in the first turn, meaning it's guaranteed to come in turn 2.

....Can anyone say 'Krak Missile'? Yes I can, the trick with the Trygon is saying it six times really fast.

That's why I plan on eventually fielding a Trygon and a Mawloc; do you shoot the Trygon? Or the Mawloc? Muhahaha! How many missiles do you have?

Eight!
Better bring the 7 lascannons too...
and 6 autocannons...
and 7 plasmaguns.
if you want obscene amounts of firepower you've come to the right place.

.....Let me see.
Six plasma guns, ten melta guns, three plasma pistols, three twin-linked lascannons, two demo charges, four multilasers, eight multiple rocket pods.
Ooooh yeah.

having looked at the codex. Most of their big things are pretty scary, but we have the ability to IK them.

It's true the lack of immunity to Instant Death is really set to hurt some of our monsters.
I'm playing my first game with the new codex tomorrow so I shall tell you how that goes...

Well I can see that there are going to be a lot of questions as well. Considering there are some rather odd rules. Even now I am hearing some dissension from among the SMurf players about the Mawlocks ability to by-pass the Mishap rule. 1. My questions would be within a ruin is that template only going to effect the lowest level or are all levels of a ruin effected. 2. I do not see anything that is bypassing a Difficult terrain test. So, if a Mawlock DS into a terrain piece are they still testing and taking wounds for the failed rolls?
Time will tell though.

I like the idea of a huge monster smashing through the ground, devouring a squad of guardsmen in a single gulp. I've tried imagining it with space marines but they keep shooting their way out.

Well I played my first game with the new Nids today and it very well, I completely annihilated my opponent.
The Trygon is unsurprisingly brutal and fleet on such a big monster is crazy, as my opponents stealth suits soon found out.
The new Tyrant psychic powers are excellent and can really synergise with the rest of the list, for example I used 'Paroxysm' to lower a squad of kroots WS to 1 then assaulted with a brood of Gargoyles.
Warriors as troops is useful so long as theirs not too many >str8 weapons running around.
All in all I'm still getting used to the changes and keep forgetting special rules (like re-rolling hits for scything talons instead of adding an extra attack...) but the codex seems great so far, and if it can let me win a game then it's got to be good for something!

I think the idea was to let it die of natural causes...
so much for that plan.
