Thats what I'm thinking, it's something thats aspirational and acheivable! And will justify my mad purchase of second hand Orks

I'm really digging your 2nd/early 3rd edition Orks. Can't go wrong with the hazard stripes and they're damn ace.
Wish I could have snagged that Gorkamorka Nob when it was still available. I've come close to getting it a few times on Ebay, but always got sniped at the last minute or worse yet, didn't have the money due to financial responsibilities.

Mine was an Ebay effort, with an inch of badly applied paint, flash still intact underneath... A bit of cleaning and it was well worth what I paid for it! I think it might be one of my favourite Ork models ever, along with Zagstruck, Snikrot and the Power klaw nob with Waaaaagh banner (which I don't have.... yet )

I love it when they've got the inch of bad paint and intact flash. That just makes it classy, but in that caveat, it means they didn't try to remove anything or worse yet, improve it.
It's definitely an awesome model, love Zagstruck and Snikrot, the PK Banner nob is nice.

I think it might be my 'treat' when I've got all the boyz painted up. So far I've got 98% of them done in base colours and the skin to Goblin Green, so just improving them and adding details will be my aim for the rest of the year most likely!

Best of luck!
I found the only way to do Horde like Armies ( You really can't help it with Orks, even if you try to fill all your slots with things that aren't Boyz, you still end up with at least 60 ), is to take batches of 20 or 30 and factory line through them, can always go back to clean up the little details, but it's a fast and easy way to go about it.

I'm just wondering, why isn't this in the Picture forum?

I'm just wondering, why isn't this in the Picture forum? It started off as a C&C thread as I started my Orks and had no idea of what I was doing with them. As I move out of painting wall-to-wall Boys and Grots, I imagine it will return to its original purpose. Edit: I've painted up another couple of grots already this week, although my camera is at my mates house (left it at the gaming club, d'oh!), so expect piccies at the weekend

They all look really good, even when they are so close up.
If anything the bandana guy could use some highlight on his trousers. The first one could do with getting his hands replaced, because it looks weird that he points the guns of to each side. If you can change them to both guns pointing forward, it would be awesome!

If anything the bandana guy could use some highlight on his trousers. Yeah I totally forgot to do that..... Weird guns guy is a classic mini! I'm not bending his arms! I'll probably have a duplicate in my 'pile o grots' from Ebay so I'll give that a go when i find one, I agree that it would look very cool! THanks for the input guys

As far as improving on the OSL, I'd say you've got a solid base to work from, the Kan's optics look real nice. Also, not sure if there's already a tutorial up somewhere for this, but how did you paint the rusted parts? e.g. the body of the shark-mouthed rokkit? Me and a friend bought Black Reach and I drew the Orky straw.

Wow.. I really like your Kans.... (I voted for your entry in GG)... Much liking the lighting effect, the battle damage, the thin stripes, and the rust.. all very very cool!
