Hey everyone, its been awhile since I last posted but I got something completed for the most part ;D. At my FLGS they're having a 40k painting squad comp and the following pics are that of my entry. Still have to tidy up the text on the Standard I think. "Forward, Men of Cadia!!" Wish me luck and thanks for looking.

Bloody brilliant! The only thing I can pick up on is the base, it just looks like it needs some extra detailing, but the Guard are just fantastic!

marbo: For the holes in the base I started off with a Valkryie flyer base and turn it upside down. Once I figured out where I was gonna position the models and walls I marked it out with skull, tracing around where round bases where gonna be. Then I filled in the other areas using some terrain green stuff( which was great for being a lot for a cheap price but smelled like tuna for a couple days after it cure ?) . I like to flip GW bases because when you fill in the areas to the top (which also serves as a guide) with putty it turns out pretty flushed with the figure's bases making it easier to have an even basing.

These are excellent. How did I not see them before?
Edit. I've just realised I did see them before. The board skipped me to the last page when I clicked on the thread.

Hey guys thanks for the comments, I really appreciate it. ;D eggmoe: For the skin I basecoat the skin dwarf flesh and then give it a good wash of ogryn flesh. I then layer highlight it with dwarf flesh. But what I think really gives it its effect is that when I wash the base coat I make sure the brush soaks up enough ogryn flesh and then I apply it by making contact with the model with only the tip of the brush. It seems to let the wash pour off into the recesses without drenching it or wiping the pigment across unevenly with the whole side of the bristles. When I highlight I make sure the dwarf flesh is really watered down almost more than 2 to 1(df to water ) Watering down the GW paints seems to really get the full color out of the paint. Anyways before I end up writing a book on what I think. ;D ... Here's some pics of my Catachans WIPS I've worked on lately..... I love your crisp and neat colour scheme, Torres. Impressive.
You paint over white undercoat or black? My guess : white.

Hello everyone, been awhile since my last post but I see i have some comments from recently. cheminhaler: Thanks for the comment. I use black undercoat for all my painting, since in my experience I've notice ( or should I say learned to notice.... ) that due to the transparent nature of acrylic paint, if you want a overall darker appearance paint over a dark base coat and vice verse. kommando khaki looks a lot different over white than black even when using equal coats from what I've seen. @ Dadcro: Thanks for the comment. As for the clean look, I too have been thinking of how to make them look more worn and lived in. Contemplating either to just paint on battle damage or weather the fatigues and armor or both? I've been off from painting for a while but I hope to be back on track soon. Those Necrons are going to be needing a proper Imperial Guard welcome........(Battle cannon and or bayonet to the face type welcoming heheh )

By the way, where is Creed's second pistol??? Lol ,actually this Creed of mine represents an earlier and younger version. Some time before the double pistol wielding, tactical genius Creed we know today ;D.
