The Shootin' Shooty Robot of Shootiness wants to reach out and touch someone. Second Kastellan Robot has been assembled. Same deali-o as with the first one, weapons are just dry fit and can be swapped out.

The gun arms look really ED209.
Just pick up the pistol and point it at the robot....

Pretty much.
I'm also working on some Catty Fronds, but I need to replenish my supply o' tiny magnets before I can take some photos of them. I have no idea when I'll have the chance to go magnet shopping, though...

Can you magnetise both types? It looks like one type of servitor has extra plates on the tracks. Can't say I like the look of that one..
Also does the 'catty frond' kit give you enough options to make all the guns the same (i.e 3 x plasma culverin, 3 x heavy grav blaster master) or do you have to go out and literally buy 3 boxes ; a la skitarii?

Yes, I believe they have enough guns to do all types for each one in the box. I also think the extra armor on the torso and waist should be able to be magnetized without too much fuss. The track skirt armor plates look like they should just stay on by friction (which is good because there's not a good way to magnetize them).

I built a unit of kataphrons today, absolutely awesome models, amazing. I completely agree, kirsten! I'm working on my Catty Fronds right now, and have re-evaluated my earlier statement about being able to swap easily between shooty and punchy ones. I'm building mine as punchy ones, just because I like the extra armor and their weaponry. However, following cheminhaler's inquiry, it is super-easy to set up their guns (common housing for shooty that the gun barrel plugs into, likewise for punchy) within either shooty or punchy variants to allow to swap weapons around. They are a really awesome kit, love all the intricate details on them, and how "dead" the servitor flesh components look.

I like the torsion cannon servitor.
The dunecrawler is a great kit. Mine is nearly assembled; I'll put pics up of mine in 2.7 hours. As an aside I'm leaving the roof unglued; might try to get an armchair and make a battery style driver in there. Thinking of just putting the dude on the roof but giving him my last galvanic rifle, which are conveniently sniperish; just for it to look different.
*Borat voice*
Is nice!
Especially when you're first assembling it and the legs are like a moving little plastic tarantula in your hands...

Hey, Bob!
What?
We need new models.
No we don't, you idiot.
But the Onager...
Just slap more bits on a sentinel head and stick it on cleaned-up defiler legs.
... That's why your management! You wanna go to the pub?
Get back to work!

It is a very cute model, though... Especially with the little optional ski footsies.

I have barely done any 40K stuffs in months, so.... "[Tau]ie don't surf!" Actually, apparently they do. Ethereal on a hoverboard, errr... hoverdrone. Who can tell me what is going on in this photo?

Not too sure. The new crisis suits look fantastic compared to the ones from 12 years ago.
'For the Greater Wood'... I was expecting fire warriors riding on a treeman, or something.
So does the Ethereal come with the flowing scroll under the hoverboard or was that your addition?

That's a torn down banner that the hoverdrone is connected to in order to give the appearance of hovering. The new Crisis suits are a great improvement over the old ones, but it's unfortunate that their legs are still solid pieces with no working knee joint, and that the legs are still too stumpy short... The look great when set onto a pair of legs nicked from the Crisis Commander, though. This is my first lot of kunvershuns. One is missing its head (I ran out of the head bits I like and have more one order). I think they look banging, though. I've got more Commander legs on order, and have already ripped off the stock legs from my Crisis suits and will be biggerating them.

Oh, and the "Greater Wood" thing was from an old webcomic about a horny male Tau Firewarrior cadet who was always trying to get into the pants of a certain female Tau Firewarrior cadet, and his pickup line was "Wanna see my Greater Wood?" IIRC it usually resulted in his getting his arse beaten...

So kirsten pointed out that the Dawnblade conversion didn't really work, and I agreed. So I ripped it off, and then stuck some bits on to create an "Omnom-nommer" Gauntlet. I shall revisit the Dawnblade at a later time.

So I wasn't quite pleased with the Om-nom-nommer Gauntlet I'd bashed together from my Crisis Commander, and wound up tinkering with it last night. I'm much more pleased with it now... Hope to have pics of my regular Crisis suits that have been converted with Commander leg bits soon...

So here's my Longstrike conversion (Tank Ace "Dongstrike") that I made made by sticking a Stealth Suit Shas'ui optic onto a shaved down (front and back) Firewarrior helmet. The helmet was then super-glued onto the Finecast Longstrike mini, after I shaved down his suit's collar. There are magnets in his foot and the floor of the turret basket so I can swap him out for a regular tank commander if I'm not fielding him. I also plan to run a small pin through the hinge of the turret hatch, so the Hammerhead can be run buttoned up.

So here's my latest update to my Farsight count-as (Commander Nearsight), now with "Duskblade": And here's an experiment I did where I stuck the new Crisis Commander leg bits onto an old-style Crisis torso, arms, and feet:

The jet-packs look a lot more prominent on the new version of Crisis suits. Do they still supply flying bases/ give you the choice of using either?
It's a good Farsight/ Nearsight conversion so far.

I have a soft spot for Tau, I've tried a couple of times to build a force and have never got past 20 models! Looking forward to seeing these great conversions with a lick of paint.

Thanks, Chem! The new Crisis suits do still come with a flying stem, however as their legs are still derpy-short, I have to use the longer flying stem that comes with the new Crisis Commander suit for my kitbashed Crisis guys, as the Commander's legs are longer and the regular stem is too short. I've got a team of three with long legs on flight stands that I shall have to photograph. The new suits' jetpacks are individual pieces that can be posed, rather than being solid/static as they are on the old Crisis suit. I have a soft spot for Tau, I've tried a couple of times to build a force and have never got past 20 models! Looking forward to seeing these great conversions with a lick of paint. Thanks! I need to get a bunch of stuff primed, and then do some painting when I can find some time.
