I see. It's good that there are new types of flying bases
You should get them on the field, Trooper. Tau are a hell of a shooty army

Oh, and the regular Crisis suits now use a base that's around 50mm, instead of the 40mm base used in the older version.

Loving what you're doing with the kit bashing and poses of your battlesuits. Hope you find time soon.

Thanks, all!
I really cannot emphasize how much better regular Crisis suits (both the old style and the updated re-cut ones) look when paired with the longer legs that the Crisis Commander suits have. The derpy, short legs that the original kit had (and their lack of ability to be posed) is what has had the chill on my working on Tau for all of these years. The new Commander legs are the greatest thing ever, since they have poseable knees, and are of a length that give the regular Crisis suits much better proportions.

My Dear Friend Trooper,
You know, I never had feelings for Tau models until I saw your tinkering here. Well done.

YETI!!! *Squees* Thanks, Walrus, Yeti, and Sirebox. I've always wanted to like the Tau, but the original Crisis suits always put me off. Now that there are bits that can be used to buff them up, I feel like I've finally arrived. Hope to get these guys (along with a ton of infantry of various types, various assorted, skimmers and lotsa drones) primed and in progress soon.

The new models definitely look a lot better, and the rules to go with are proper juicy!
Do you have a colour scheme yet?

I would personally convert all your battlesuits into ork walkers Warboss riptide anyone? I'm pretty sure there's a Mega-Ork Warboss out there someone converted using a Riptide and a whole bunch of other Tau-y bits a while back.

The colour scheme is fantastic, very neatly done too! Thanks! I did these as test minis several years ago. Now I've got to try and remember which colors I used to achieve the scheme...

Yeah, unfortunately I've not painted any 40K stuff at all this year. As Reds said jerbbin' is keeping me super-busy nowadays... When I do get a chance to paint my time is going into Star Wars stuff (conversions for X-Wing and the minis from the Imperial Assault game).

Wow... I've not posted anything in this thread for almost a year. I've not been painting any Warhammers recently, but got inspired the other night and primed up the abomination I converted almost two years ago. Did some painting on it tonight; spent three hours just laying down the first of four layers for the brass trim, and haven't even gotten all of the brass bits painted yet...
