Gentlemen!
Captain Drang is hereby no longer planning on stealing a Storm Raven. It is too ugly for words to describe.

The design is flawed, is what I'm sayingReds Welcome to the 41st millennium, where the men are men (unless they worship Slaanesh), the women are fire-obsessed lunatics, and the children are the conscripts. And the vehicles make no logical sense so long as you apply real-world design and physics. At least most look like they could work. This looks like someone just threw their hands up in the air and said "To hell with it". Where do you al think the stand goes? Reds

Hopefully at the center of gravity, which would probably place it 3/4 of the way back from the front.

I gotta say, if that's it, it's pretty ugly. It looks like a goldfish cracker. Reds What the hell is a goldfish cracker? A nutcracker for fish? Gold fish crackers are awesome!!!!!!!! One of the (many) highlights to my last visit to the US Odd looking model, be interesting to see if this is the final, or if they amend it at all.

Good lord, you can't buy Goldfish crackers outside of the US?
That's just criminal...
What baked snakefood do kids bite the heads off of where you're from?
You know, the Stormraven would look a lot better if the wings sat over the doors on the sides...
Still, looks like something out of a cartoon.
Anybody remember Tailspin?

I think this, if it is the actual model, is a prime example of why I'm not a Marine player (even if I have a small Marine army). I just don't like the aesthetics of a lot of the Marine stuff.
Everytime I see it, I just can't help thinking "That looks wrong." and I'm not even sure what exactly it is that looks wrong... maybe all of it?
ah... Tailspin *drifts off into fond late childhood memories*

There's now a poll up about the Stormraven's appearance on the Bolter and Chainsword's Blood Angels subforum and my vote for "it sucks hard" tipped the balance by one vote over "it's acceptable". Sadly, around 20% of the voters seem to think it's a great design.

So this abomination costs twice what a Valk costs.... its three "USP"s seem to be:
1, assault vehicle: can take or leave but I see the advantages 2, Machine spirit: so it can fire when moving fast, potentially useful but you probably need a few of them to get the weight of fire to make the most of it 3, Carries a dread as well as troops.
Not sure I see the value here, ok it should be more than the Valk, and the Valk may be a bit on the cheap side.. but seriously 200+ points, more with toys? I know marines are used to high value stuff but still. Plus you can;t squad them to have more than three?
AV12? Ooooooo but you can't shoot me well due to my speed......
Hydra.... or possibly several, sorry you had a red flying thing? must have missed it, sadly the AA battery didn't...

I've tested them out, and they're good as gunships. Those missiles they pack hurt like all hell (used them on Mephistion once), and it's good at ripping up tanks.
The problem is that it costs so friggen much to put on the table in terms of points, and I shudder to think of the price of the kit.
It's not a bad unit, but in an army wull of Jump Infantry Dreads and DSing Land Raiders, there are so many ways to get across the board that this thing is usually left in the hanger.

It's points heavy, likely to be a pricey kit, and there are much more useful things to fill that FA slot.
Not to mention that if that's the final model, ehhhhhh...
The Stormraven model, were it good, may have convinced me to pick up a little BA force just for something different to paint, but again, if that's it, no.
Just no.

They are a pain to paint, but look nice when they are done. However, I will not be shelling out for the space guppy--if anything that model will push me further away from working on my BA...

I wonder if Inquisitors will ever be able to "aquire" one (FW rules wise maybe?)... Could potentially be Inquisitored up to look half decent... maybe... or I could just use an Aquila... or a Valk...

Reds Argh...I was thinking about the Valk as a FA slot and all that jazz. Then yeah, I'd still have better things to put into that HS spot. As a Blood Angels collector--they were my first army back in the day when they were just red Sphess Muhreens--I can attest that painting Blood Angels makes me want to put my eyes out, and cut my painting arm off with a dull spoon. I did some test models for BA a while back as a decoration for an Ork Nob, just a way to test out new schemes and such, plus different ways of painting Marine eyes. I like working with Red, and it's part of why my Tau are a mostly red armored force. But yeah, painting the large flat areas on a whole Marine red looks to be rather irritating, but worth it. Sadly this isn't enough to get me into starting yet another army for 40k.

I really think that the angle of this picture is unfavourable. GW keeps doing this … *remembers Eldar FirePrism, BFG SpaceMarine escort ships … * I think that the tail is longer than it seems, which will balance the proportions a little. Somebody from WarSeer made a 3D picture of the “ChibiHawk”. If it looks like this, I can live with it. There is also a Photoshop redesign, or lets say a “conversion suggestion”. The redesign is a little sleeker, although I think that the missing back tail spoils this creation a little … All in all I will wait for new pictures before I will decide if I like it or not (… and if I want to loot a few bitz ) Cheers! -Magg Edit: In the background of the first picture (not on mine) you also can see the new Furioso Dreadnought (left upper corner) … in the end, this “blackjack” will be replaced with a lighter version, too .
