@ anonymoos ... i use either the catachan vox caster because it looks realistic, or i take the cadian vox and remove the circular antenna and the odd lamp from it and use it as is. i prefer not to use the vox head as it looks pretty rubbish imo, so i prefer to use a head with a headset.
@ dadcro... er... dont think im gonna do that anytime soon... to be honest i dont think its something i can really put into a guide... every model i tackle from a different perspective, im pretty sure no two models of mine have the same pouch loadout
@ cosmic... well i would... im all for a bit of compitition...but i got a fantasy chaos sourcerer riding a manticore on friday to paint up as im entering it into a comp ran by my local shop... im about 70% into it now... and i need to finish it by friday because im flying off to germany again for 11 days...
i might have time... maybe.
oh and yeah...cheers for the feedback... i thought the vet sergent looked a hell of a lot like Mario too... hehe

its been quite a while! work is ridiculous atm and im working the days and nights trying to get the contract done... anyway just a quick update of what ive been working on for the last few nights..... Basilisk is finally painted! ive had this sitting on my desk unpainted for a month now, so i decided now was the time to get it done. im pretty happy with how it turned out... i dont usually weather my tanks as much as i did this one... i like the clean look of a freshly painted and well maintained tank, but i thought id make the main cannon look well used, by adding paint chips, carbon and some rust. next up is a small project ive been working on since watching the opening sequence of 'act of valor' ... here is my rendition of a HALO Jumper ... i plan to paint this on the weekend and have him mounted to the rear door of my vendetta... ready to jump out. used a valk door gunner body as a base, tank crew arms , pilot head. planning on him wearing DCU with black parachute and combat gear... maybe a blue/gray visor lastly im putting up a few better pictures of my main commander General Petraeus and his communications officer captain blake... wanted to do some better close ups as im not really happy with the size of the composite picture... this is part of an ongoing effort to upload better pictures while i find the time to do so..

Damn, ashot... just damn! The Halo jumper is absolutely incredible! Such an awesome conversion and idea. If you don't mind my asking, where did you get the computer setup on your Bassie's loading platform??? It's awesome, I've seen it before, but can't figure out where they come from. I need a couple for some terrain ideas I have.

The generals weapon is simply awesome! Just read through all of your thread, and impressed is an understatement, all of your work is astounding. I really like the whole modern warfare feel you have going on, it's rather inspirational actually. Keep up the awesome work!

@ kreik... thanks mate... the computer console is from the inner wall from a sm rhino... I bet your like ah I knew that lol...
@ cosmic... hehe... well I agree... its good to have someone to aim to beat... I'm a little way off with my painting though... you have q much better consideration for colours and highlights.. also your skin painting is way better than mine... but I feel I'm improving with every miniature.
And I'm not getting tanith figures.... il make some instead... actually working on a darksider unit made from metal catchans. Based on us special forces in Afghanistan... Google special forces cowboy. And you see what I mean... big muscles and fat beards... should be able to post a few images later.

Incredible stuff! Its probably been asked before, what do you use for the dirt on the dozer blade? Is it this weathering powder stuff?

@ upguardsandatem ... yeah you guessed it.. im using the MIG range of weathering pigments... to do the dust im just using 'gulf war sand'... i need to get some more deserty colours soon... if i need to add depth i mix it up with 'rubble dust'..
the weathering powders are expensive but i feel they really are worth it... also you can add the pigment to your normal acrylic paints to boost opacity or to make them drier...
also just to say... i went into my local shop today to have a chat and i got to test out some of the new citadel paints for myself... the texture paints are really good and will help alot to add build ups of dry earth/dust/sand to the vehicles... cant wait till they come out...

ok so i modified the parachute somewhat by adding a zip and a couple of strap lines to it... im much more happy with it now.. except that after editing the photo... noticed i messed up the zip a little... but from normal veiwing distace it looks fine and should look ok when i paint it.. also working on a few other conversions atm... heres the start of my creed stand in... insted of him having 2 super hitec laser pistols, i chose to give him a couple of oversized hi caliber 1911's ... not too sure where to go on this model... i could go down the big flappy cape direction.. but im not a big flappy cape kinda guy... and with this guy being a general, hes unlikely to be carring much equipment... any ideas? perhaps more pistol mag pouches and a helmet hanging off his belt... sword? i just dont know.. next is a little veteran unit ive started working on based on US special forces in afghanistan...which i was speaking about earlier... this is my compertition to cosmics tanith lol! this unit will be made up of old catchans i have lying around, and converting them to have better equipment, chest rigs, pakols , dishdash , backpacks and of course the massive SF beards... if any of you have any suggestions for this build please let me know... im even consideriong swapping their weapons for small m4's or even ak's next... heres a couple of snipers i converted in september... these may get a repaint... my painting style has changed and improved since i started and now im just not sure if im happy with them... i plan on making lots of converted snipers from cadian plastics and maxminis barretts anyway so i may just retire these guys compleatly. ok lastly the big conversion... my WIP vulture made entirely from a valk kit with 5mm and 1 mm plasticard... This is the start of the DARKSIDERS.. im basing the darksiders on an special forces air assault and marine assault force... the flying vehicles are like the us army 'nightstalkers' with delta, ranger and ODA SF attachments... anyway heres the air support vulture. ok heres the details.. so its basically a valk without the cargo area... the two masts have been combined to create a single shaft on which the rear fins are attached... the front has had a magnetised 180 degree heavy bolter turret mounted on the nose and the nose also has a moveable IR painter added. because of the shape change , for the wings feet to touch the ground i have added 10mm worth of plasticard to the wings and now it sits really snug to the ground... the weapons will be mounted on the pylons attached to the main body..not the wings... im a few weeks off of ordering the punisher cannons for this. although all weapons will be magnetised so can enjoy all options and loadouts. c's and c's are always welcome... thanks for looking!

As usal asot you never cease to impress. Bloody loving this latest batch.
Creed will need a beret, perhaps a red or a blue one to denote superior status (ref. General Shepard mw2) . The pistols however could be gold ? I just think he's abit acrobatic looking for the sinister, winston churchill themed creed.
Your snipers look great in their ghillie suits, I'd keep them mate honestly.

I agree that Creed will need a beret and that you should stay away from the cape. He shouldn't have some silly gold-plated gangsta wannabe-guns though. Speaking of that, my huble suggestion is that you either turn the gun right way up or change it to a pointing hand (which also would look really cool).
If you want to give him a close combat weapon, how about something like a Fairbairn-Sykes Combat knife? Something that shows that he is not afraid to get close and dirty but still isn't big enough to be in the way when he stands over a map of the warzone?
If you want to add some more details a pair of 1911 style holster (worn in a cross-draw fashion) would be really fitting. Perhaps also a water bottle a binoculars pouch.

ok ive taken in all your suggestions and a few suggestions elsewhere and ive decided to...
give him a beret give him a medium sized knife. give him a radio in a pouch mounted on the back of his belt...with a wire and ptt kneepads groin protector wrist mounted lcd map unit. pair of belt mounted hosters...blackhawk serpa style
may even add an armourcast muzzle flash too... maybe... (it would let me do a bit of osl painting..)
as for painting... hes going to get the acu uniform... desert armour like usual... brown beret ... green pouch kit
and.....
GOLD GUNS!
oh hell yeah... i fully intended them to be gold from the start... i wanted to get desert eagles but all i could find were 1911's.
so.. that means im defo not giving him a coat or cape... and sorry egon... but the gangsta guns are staying... i ordered those guns especially for it lol...

I love the Vulture! Awesome conversion... ;D For Creed the only thing that I can suggest is that you have him chomping on a big cigar.

much thanks for all the input everyone... so heres what i got... i think the sculpting is finished on this... i dont want to over do it... anyway... so hes got.. beret with cap badge harness with quad pistol mag pouches groin protector modular kneepads and elbow pads two kydex pistol holsters PRR in pouch mounted on belt with whip antenna tactical wrist band ( map holder) might add a knife once the majority of its painted.. there is a little space on his belt. i wuld have added the cigar but i really didnt feel it suited his face.. plus i would had have to alter his lips and im not really good enough to be messing with head sculpts should go into paint tommorrow... im not fully sure how yet to base him... proberbly on a 50mm base on top of a rock.. to make him look important... or i may wait till i start on my kell stand in.. ok.. so for the rest of the night i think im gonna paint up another ogryn... i think i may tackle the female one...im sure she will get alot of people talking.
