So as a distraction from GG I painted a bit of carapace and weaponry last night and tonight, just brightening up the yellow on the hazard stripes and adding a few details. After I've done the bronze edging I think this'll be done   The weaponry got an airbrushed coat of 2:1 chaos black:boltgun metal, and then I undercoated the red areas with mechrite red followed by red gore.  I couldn't help but grin like an idiot as I painted the coil on the blastgun, it's bigger than a tank! ;D Far too much fun!  I imagine these parts will be done next week, and by then the other pieces will have finished having a bath and will be ready for undercoating and painting. |

I forgot to mention that 'Grandpa's Workshop' has agreed to produce a 30cm x 20 cm oval base, with nice edges. The phone conversation was a bit like the scene with the Knight's of Ni in Monty Python's Holy Grail....

!!Double post of DOOM!! Ok so a quick update before I go away for the weekend for my birthday. 26, I'm past a 1/4 of a century now.... how depressing....  Anyway! Here's what I've been up to.   The Plasma Blastgun (coolest thing ever, I want everything to have one!) has had the coils done and a bit of weathering done, as I thought it looked far too clean and a bit boring. The bronze needs 'blinging up' to Gold, as I decided that there wasn't enough contrast between the red and bronze, and it all looked a little too Khornate.      The Vulcan Mega Bolter is in a similar position, although I have to tidy up the power cables and finish the heat discolouration off, by blending the bands together and matt varnishing it. And finish the bling I'm pretty happy with how it's looking so far though.  Tha carapace is almost done, just needs the edges blinging. And the freehand, which I'm still a bit unsure of. My missus has shown quite a lot of interest in 'Fido' as it has been referred to, which is good as it's all I've done of an evening really. I'm having loads of fun with it! Anyway, have a good weekend, I'm taking my granddad out tonight for his bithday (which is next week, but never mind!) to a very nice Italian, having an Indian meal tomorrow night and another Italian for my brothers birthday on Sunday! I might have to invest in some bigger jeans! ;D |

Super awesome... love the heat glow on the muzzles. Once you blend that it will look spectacular.
Can't wait to see this together.
On a related but slightly seperate note: Back in the days of my Armorcast titans my friends and I debated the point of hazard striping on a Titan. I understand it is a house-thing but we had two camps of thought:
1. Those that felt that the striping was a way of thumbing your nose at helpless orbital surveyors watching the Titan krunk around, who couldn't coordinate enough firepower to hurt a Titan anyway or...
2. That the banding made it hard for troops to view the carapace through rangefinders and give accurate distances, similar to the hull markings on battleships like Bismarck. Not that troops had anything that could bring down a titan. Unless you live in Dan Abnett's world. I want to live in that world.

I think it's the same reason as most space marine chapters being brightly coloured. So the enemy can see it coming and soil themselves appropriately ;D |

Finally! An update!
I'm really liking this, you've definitely outdone me on the weapon details.
The only thing I find strange though is all of the screens on the weapons, I didn't paint mine because I just thought that having a screen and some buttons on a massive weapon that is on a massive titan is pretty pointless, mainly because what use do they have?! Especially in such a prime position out in the open.

In the 'titan' comics there were a few pictures of the 'hangars' with the tech-preists doing... Preisty stuff. I figured that they might be for when the titan gets its MOT done before/after each battle. That and I couldn't resist really! ;D

yes the button and screens are for what one can only assume while the techpriest are doing thier rites of the machine god and appraising the armour and weapons of any fault that they would be playing with the buttons

Double post of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Here's what I've been up to recently.    Im planning on doing the aquila emblem in a marble effect, as I think it'll be a bit of a challenge and if I manage it it'll look badass. I was thinking something like this:  The other 'shin pad' has a large plain area, which although would add a lot of open space to the model, I feel as though some detail will add to the 'machine-god' feel of the model. The question is though, do I go with the Legio Ignatum device or an Ad-Mech one?   |

I would just put the half-skull/half machine-skull inisgnia on. Either that or the Ad-Mech devie but with the wings instead of the axes.

Hmmm yeah that could be cool, I didn't think of combining them! I could always add some scroll work to balance it out...
I think just the mech skull thingy would look a bit lost as there would be quite a bit of black space at the top and bottom.

So here's what I've been up to:  If you can't make it out, its a pencil outline of the Ad Mech 'axes' with the flaming skull logo (made me want to watch Ghost Rider again...!) in the middle. It took far too long and more swearing than a ship full of sailors. Drawing on a curved surface is NOT easy!  I am quite looking forward to painting it as it'll definately be the biggest challenge I've done for a long time! Hopefully it'll do the orginal artwork justice when it's finished  I've also managed to get the base coat done on the legs, body and armour bits, although they need painting gold and details doing. It's all coming together now! The bits that attatch behind the guns on the top are being stripped, and will probably get undercoated next week if all goes to plan |
