I agree with coonan. It looks good now but it looks like it's only half-way through the painting phase. It needs something more that really picks out some details so that it looks properly finished.
Impressive work none the less.

I just had a look at it this morning and I see what you both mean. Something is missing, but what?

Maybe if you highlighted the black parts before you put the other colours on, you would get some depth in the colours.

I finally got a chance to revisit the tank again today and after about an hour just sat looking at it I decided to put a flesh wash on it. I know it's a little unconventional but I did it anyway, here's how it turned out. Opinions please.

I know it's been a while since I added anything to this and wont be doing so much over the next 4 weeks till my cast is off. However I have set myself a target, after not painting so much over the last year or so I have decided it's time to get up to date. I intend on painting everything I currently have and finishing my gaming table by Christmas if not sooner.
Here's what I have to paint -
300+ Guardsmen 6 Leman Russ 3 Basilisk 1 Valkyrie
50 Space Marines 2 Rhino 1 Land Raider 3 Drop Pod
Texture gaming table Paint gaming table Build Gothic ruins Grass/flock gaming table
Sit back and enjoy all that's been done.

... unfortunately it looks like it was put together by my 4 year old son and then painted by my 1 year old ... ... I all ready have nail varnish remover to clean then up ... I'm not going to comment on quality because that's not my style (lord only knows I've been there, done that, and still not massively improved ) but I dont think there's enough nail polish remover in the world to help with that Russ. But whomever did it at least made an effort to paint the models. I know many people who donĀ“t paint their at all. No fair! My army is a LWIP (Lifetime work in progress, naturally) They will all be painted, eventually. Ah. I've only just realised I'm a little late to this party. I'm sure I clicked on the last post button... whoops

There's something very hazard/death world about that colour scheme, and I kind of liked the black/white pattern also, it had just the right amount of order and chaos.

OMG that poor tank! Glad to see it isn't being smothered in paint anymore. Any Idea what that guy used? Looks like laxet house paint to me... I can't bare to think about those poor cadians. Were they at least spared 4 coats?

No idea what it was painted with. Haven't started stripping the Cadians yet but they don't look as bad, might have more issues with glue than paint on those.

As you all should know I have my right hand in a cast which means no painting for me at the moment. However I have a gaming table in my loft that I started building 12 months ago.
So this is the focus of my attention for the next few weeks. I currently have the table built and some of the hills in place. I'm heading up shortly to finish the hills and texture the bits that haven't been done already.
I'll upload some photo's once this is all done.

Ok, so the last of the hills have now been carved, I was originally going to have two cliff faces but decided I didn't like the look of it. I have now put sand on to texture it and am waiting for the PVA to dry. Here's what I'm sure none of you have been waiting for, Photo time! They were taken on my phone so aren't great sorry. Once the PVA is dry, a day or so, I will sweep any excess sand off to give me the finished surface. Then it's off to B&Q to get some green paint.

Looks very impressive sir! May I suggest adding some little bushes/shrubs etc, exspecially to the hills, in order to break up the grass a bit and just add a little more interest?

There will be more things added, there are going to be buildings in one corner and other little bits around the board. Need to finish the grass/flock coat first though and I've run out. Keep checking it should be finished soon though.
