Might be a part of it - maybe next time I'm ordering from them I'll get some of the flexible belt too, if it's the same size. That one would be pretty tricky to make anything other than straight though! I was mainly thinking colour scheme or paint style actually... something about it just doesn't pop out like the other models to me. Could just be the nature of black and grey with the few red parts I guess.

Ungh! That sword!. Except for that and the ammo belt I think it looks okey. One small thing though, just because I'm sometimes a pedantic freak; I would've painted the shells on his crossbelt the same way as the ammo belt. No reason for him to carry ammunition for a weapon he doesn't have, ifyaknowaddamean?

That was my first thought, until I saw they were about a quarter of the size and a totally different shape. So I've tried to make them look like little vials instead of ammo. The sword is kinda built into the model, would have to pretty much GS a new one to fit the straps etc

I actually like the commissar. The sword looks a little impractical, but hey, there are many cultures in the Imperium of Man, and Commissars are never (IIRC) from the same planet as the regiment they're assigned to. You might notice that he'll stand out when placed among your other models, instead of on his own.

Real nice models, especially the Commissar.

Thanks for the comments :-) Looking at the sword from the back, I may try re-shaping the end so it just looks claymore-y.

Niper conversions are awesome . Where did you find the commissar model ? How did you make the rifles ? and let me guess, these guys are swamp specialists

Niper conversions are awesome . Where did you find the commissar model ? How did you make the rifles ? and let me guess, these guys are swamp specialists Thanks The new commissar is mostly a Warmachine model. I've swapped his head for a pig iron one then green stuff-ed the big hat and skull. Then his weapon is from Anvil. Sniper-wise, do you mean the ratlings or guardsmen? The former are standard models with a green stuff cloak and liberal use of basing materials. The latter are my normal guardsman technique, but with other IG parts hacked up and stuck on - eg. long barrels from the existing sniper part with the arms and cloak. Bipods came from the FW Elysian melta guns I used for the storm trooper conversions. Edit: Swampness could be a factor, but I'm really going for a standard european woodland/countryside effect for the camo and bases

Here he is in context. A bit happier now that I've had this perspective.

That looks pretty awesome. The guy in the hat in the back looks pretty cool too. What is he?

He's going to be a platoon commander. It's a Mantic guy with the hat originally from the guy that became the commissar! Edit: Also since that squad's not been in the thread yet, note the Pig-Iron/GW sergeant at the front with stolen power sword

Oh :-) I do like him, he's just tricky to get used to with the massive sword. The gun, scope and ammo belt (bolt pistol, so they're like little missiles) are all from Anvil industries!
