I had a game with a mate the other day, as always I included my Deathriders. This time I went all out and included a Deathrider command squad. As great as the deathrider models are he stated that my command squad needed "tarting up!" I went through my bitz box and found a load of stuff (well a crest and powerfist!) During an earlier game one of the hunting spear's tip had snapped off! I now had everything I needed for captain 11, here he is: It was nice to come back to my comfort zone of painting Krieg. Next up Grenadiers.

Awesome! The horse looks really amazing and I think that you made those bitz work beautiful on him!
He reminds me of a hussar :-p

Lol! Thanks danesk. Right era! My grenadiers are taking me ages to build (it's the poxy power cable). I had a broken sergeant model after a few games so I decided to go through the bitz box. I found enough parts to replace the serg of squad 1 white platoon. I'll post a pic or 2 when I get a chance.

Ok, I've had to rework a sergeant due to battle damage. I wanted to raise the standard of my painting, I usually do 3 layers of highlights, on this I've done 5. Here's the result: Thanks for looking, grenadiers up next.

Made a little progress and finished my first 5 grenadiers. Please let me know if you can see any improvements from my previous stuff.

Finally finished my Grenadiers! It's taken ages, I'm currently only getting around an hour or two a week. Next up is a chimera for these guys. After that I may add some tanks Leman Russ variants probably. All comments welcome and appreciated.

Your Krieg are spot on bud. However as a big fan of all things cavalry, I love the rider above. Very nice.

Thanks digits I'm planning on reinforcing my deathriders after I've added some tanks and grey knights. On the subject of tanks here's some pics of my second chimera, which will transport some grenadiers. Up next I'm adding some tanks and grey knights to spear head the attack.

Very gritty and nicely weathered.
Going back to your Death Rider command squad officer with a plume - truly outstanding work.

Heavy stubber barrel for the turret autocannon. Very good.

Very gritty and nicely weathered. Going back to your Death Rider command squad officer with a plume - truly outstanding work. Thanks alot! I wanted him to look a little bit grander than the rest of the squad, glad you liked it! The Lightning! Thanks again. It's actually the gun from the Forgeworld Exterminator turret! I just cut them off and used it on both tanks. I've been painting 3 Russ variants trying to get them done ASAP. They ain't pretty but they do the job! Will post pics once they're done!

Do you prefer the executioners without sponsons?
Brilliant picture of the army together, so much artillery there.

That's a lot of artillery! Great weathering as well, one thing you could improve is the free hand decal, try drawing it on a piece of masking tape, cut it out with xacto knife, tape on the desire area and dry brush through the cut out.

Cheminhaler, thanks glad you liked it! I don't put sponsons on any tanks bar superheavies it's not a tactic I just don't like the look of them! Macknight, thanks for the tip I'll try doing that in future. Next up a Firestorm redoubt or Minotaurs spacemarines depending on how much time I get! As always thanks for the positive and constructive comments.

Looks great jud! Although I can't help to feel that you've gone a little bit to far on the caked mud on the LR. It's well done, but it looks a little out of place.
As said, that's the only thing. The paintwork is superb and very realistic

Thanks danesk! I thought I'd over done it too! I'll have to remember to not be so heavy handed next time. Hopefully my artillery set will arrive soon, then I can get going again!

That redoubt looks spectacular. Cheminhaler, thanks glad you liked it! I don't put sponsons on any tanks bar superheavies it's not a tactic I just don't like the look of them! Next up a Firestorm redoubt or Minotaurs spacemarines depending on how much time I get! Ironically the superheavies get AV 14 on the side without sponsons. Minotaur SM? Do you mean in the later golden armour scheme or the really early yellow & red striped armour from Rogue Trader Badab colour scheme?

They were in the gold and red scheme, they were a commission I was working on, I got half way through a squad when the buyer backed out! Anyway, I haven't had much painting time of late but I have managed to add an infantryman to the force (he'll replace a broken soldier from blue platoon) I'll add pics of the artillery and crew once I've done them.
