And now......a photo update of god-like qualities! Since I'm doing everything properly I had to paint the insides of the tanks before I assembled them. So here's the battered and dirty rear hatches....    A big part of this build is versitility. Ivory wanted most things magnetised if possible, so after building the Deimos Predator Infernus I magnetised the main weapon....   So he can have either the Melta cannon or the Flame cannon...   Or any other main weapon he chooses. Then came the side sponsons, these are very fiddly and are pretty much impossible to magnetise since the parts are so small. I could have ordered some tiny magnets but I didn't want to wait, and I think I came up with a better solution anyway. The weapons have two holes top and bottom with a locking joint that connects to the moulded pin of the top Targeter and bottom power supply. They all fit through the two holes shown here.....  So I decided to drill right through the weapons, attach a brass rod to the targeter and then drill a hole in the bottom power supply, so we end up with this......      The whole assembly pushes together tightly, so it won't just all fall apart, and everything is fully moveable....     If Ivory wants to change the weapon options all he has to do is pull off the bottom piece, pull the targeter out and swap the weapon....simple  Next up we have the Vindicator....  I've left the shield off for now, I personally think it looks more Heresy Era without it......but Ivory if you want it on then just tell me. I've replaced the rear fans with some wire mesh, again to add a slightly more Heresy feel to it.....   I'm taking a bit of a break from the Salamanders. I've made a good start but I have other peoples to do also, so up next......Lizardmen UFOs!! ;D Cosmic |

Really nice job. I reckon I will take the shield, but it does look cool without it. BTW - real nice work on those sponsons buddy

I like how you replaced the fans at the back with mesh wire. Great innovation with the sponsons too..

All of the stuff should just be truescale.. *Dreams* Truescale would be a nightmare, but maybe one day Right, I spent half an hour last night working on a tester marine, which I finsihed off quickly this morning. I am really really happy with him, however, he's not quite the colour Ivory wanted, but we'll see if we can all make him change his mind  As per usual I try and go for a bit more realistic in style, and Ivory wanted the sallies to look distressed and battle worn. What do you lot think? I'm going to post him to Ivory so he can see him first hand, these things always look better in reality than in photos! Cosmic |

I actually prefer this look as an oppose to the clean, flamboyant style the Sallies are generally painted in. The colour is much more reminscent of Nick Kyme's take on the Chapter during the Heresy in the novel : Promethean Sun.

Awesome pics gerner these must be sneak peeks of fws second horus heresy insyallment : massacre that will be covering the drop site massacre. Dayum can you believe salamanders have been my favourite army since 2004 and yhey havent had a single rebuff and then. A week after i order 900 pounds worth of salamanders forgeworld releases a total salamander rebuff loooool i feel used and abused by fws policies lol

It looks brilliant; you can still see the bright Salamander green in some spots, but he looks like he's been caked in dirt from the battlefield.

Loool , just received the tester marine by post. He is much greener than in the pics and incredibly well detailed bravo ole chap. I know you'll need him back for basing , but I won't be able to send him straight away, I just got back from an electro weekend in london and am broke for the next week
