I've painted more of the TGG2 Sisters. I've now got 1.8 squads of Dominions, one Knight of the Chalice (who are going to be a Bullgryn Squad), and one Repentia. I'm not super happy with the pictures I can get of the Knight, but here is the Repentia:

The highlighting and shading look really great. The red on the robes and hood has turned out well.
For some reason the poses look better than the classic models, who are all holding the eviscerator out in front of them in some kind of guard stance.

I had been making good progress on assembly for the Seraphim and the troopers, I even started a model for testing the scheme. Then a box of old metal storm troopers did a deep strike off of a shelf and landed in my lidless RH box.

The highlighting comes from the models themselves, I just slap on some wash, and the crevices do the rest. Still, I am pretty happy with how it's been turning out. The red is just Red Gore with Nuln Oil Gloss over it. I really like these repentia compared to the GW ones. They are a bit embarrassing to own, but still leagues better than the Sado-Masochist ones. Emptyhat, the meteor strike on your mustering grounds is a tragic loss. My sisters will pray for yours.

I finally got the gumption to paint a second Seraphim, and Celestine. I've now got all of my Sisters HQ finished, and have finished the last of the second squad of dominions. Remaining is five more dominions, ten Seraphim, at least one Imagifier, and three Immolators. Here is the Saint and her friends: And the pile of completed squads: I haven't based them yet, but I haven't decided how I'm going to.

Oh Wow, the Living Saint looks different.
If you like the idea of the texture paints they are quite easy to apply. I used Martian Ironcrust (not to be confused with Ironearth which looks the same) which is red sand that is supposed to get crackly effects. You just shovel it onto the base (base itself has to have had a dried layer of paint applied before) with the texture spreader tool, wait for it to dry overnight, wash it and then drybrush. The sand is much thicker than using the old PVA and sand method and you can get a few other colours and effect. The Stirland series is dark brown and the Agrellans are light beige.

For bases I use Vallejo grey pumice. It spreads over nicely and gives a rough finish, it’ll even fill in the gaps where the slot on the base is! Also you can stick on any bitz you want to (ruins, slate etc)

I definitely want something more grey than red. I've got the dried earth texture paint that I've used for my other models, but I think I'd rather have a solid base like the pumice.

Ah, finally remembering to check this thread at my desktop so I can look at the pictures. Paimon, I really like how the Repentia(Davidian) has come out, they really are the best models from the Kickstart by virtue of their awesome boots and that pretty neat power fist. I'm pretty tempted to paint mine to go with my GW sisters, they'd end up with white or blue cloth and bronze for the boots.
It's harder to see the sisters in the other picture. Is the main armour colour white, silver, or white with silver lining?

The main colour is white with gold as the highlights. The flash, and the yellow light of my room makes it a bit tricky to tell, but I've touched them up a bit here: I've also got a better picture of the Saint:

It's a good look for them. Was the saint hard to clean and assemble?

Not hard per say, but there was a decent amount of excess sprue and plastic that needed to be carved off in order for the pieces to fit together. Once that was done, it was pretty intuitive. Finicky might be a better word than hard.

Two down, eight to go. You have to appreciate my body parts are on the line for this. Imgur pics are so big.

You can edit your images after uploading them to be whatever size you want. Still, guy looks pretty cool.

I prefer the bigger images. Was looking at an online image resizer - might check out how it works on Imgur too. I think it might be the resolution / size of file for another online gallery that's giving me issues.
Thanks. I've painted more power armoured ones but some still need the chapter badge or unit numbers. Happy that the devastator heavy weapons are all glued in place at least.

It might be because I'm viewing them on my phone, but the images are pretty much the right size for me.
Nice work on the Camo too, it really adds to the sneaky/scoutiness of the model.

Yeah. The free-handing in general is a lot better than what I could manage.

Thanks nutty and Paimon.
Freehanding is easier if you sketch your pattern out with a sharp pencil on the shoulder pad. I prefer using artist pens and have a couple of Mitsubishi art pens (0.05 and 0.1 mm), from an art shop, that have served me well. The ink is running out badly now so I need to buy new ones urgently.
Here's a video where it looks so easy..:
The Soul Drinker chalice symbol is actually a lot harder to replicate than the bird pattern I chose.

Trying to see if the online image size editor worked with the images. One squad down..

That's a good looking squad. Do you name all your marines?

Thanks. Only if they get fully painted, so not too often. That needs to change ; they look better with unit numbers and names.

This is great, if you beaver through a few more squads and vehicles before the next game then the Space Crows will be looking very snazzy on the table top.
