I've been doing a lot of commissions(mostly 1ksons and daemons, with some eldar mixed in), and redoing my IG force due to improper cleaned models(some have mold lines), painted them before GW came out with Eshin grey and noticed of Vallejo German grey, I had painted the old IG in dawnstone and they looked too bright, not enough contrast between base and highlights. For my 1000th post, I'd like to share some of my collection and current commission work with the community. That's quite the collection or did you put active commissions on the list as well?

That's quite the collection or did you put active commissions on the list as well? No, that's all me, not including the stuff I've sold, commissioned, or Warhammer fantasy collection and flames of war. I originally wanted 4 core 40k armies, but my plastic crack habits kept expanding; technically I only have 5 armies(IG, tau, orks, drukhari, IK), chaos renegades pending; deathwatch and GSC doesn't have enough to count as an army. In reality, my IG force is probably 4 armies in 1, and my tau army can be split in 2.

I dusted off my old brushes, reconstituted some paint and managed to advance a few models along the track to completion. Base coated about 6, highlighted another 6 that were half done and prepped about 20 models and two hellhounds for undercoating. I also fixed up my Commissar conversion, which got chipped and broken after I left it in a GW display cabinet a while back. That was probably the event that caused me to drop 40k for a while. Who would have thought they don't lock the cabinets?
I really want to finish two platoons so am going to be working towards that I think. 60 men, 2 officers sounds like a solid core of infantry for most games. I'm at about 18 fully completed and another 20 in various stages of completion, so it shouldn't be too bad.
I thought posting here may motivate me to keep at it until I reach that goal. I'll try to find some sort of camera, although I don't live with an amateur photographer anymore unfortunately. I really should get those photos we took of my miniatures before we moved out, I want to show off my knight.

60 men is enough for most games imho: it's the minimum you need for the 'big' detachment, and you can easily fit them in the 'medium' one. Besides.. a guard army is more of a patrol than an army if it has less than 50 guys. Good luck with the painting

Yeah that's why I went with 60, I love the idea of having a brigade. I'm still not 100% on what I am going to arm them with though. Plasma seems great and is really cheap this edition, so probably that. Trying to decide between swords or bolters for the sergeants though. I like the idea of having 24" rapid fire on everything, especially using Tallarn rules to run around like a maniac.

Bolters are well worth their points on sarges in my book, and there is no reason not give them chainswords. There is no benefit to having a pistol/sword combo this edition, so you could do both. It might look a bit awkward if you stick on both though.. although I've seen a cool chainbayonet conversion somewhere. Powerswords (and plasma pistols).. I don't have a whole lot of those modelled. Simply because they cost about as much as an infantryman, and I'd rather add more infantrymen.

I hadn't noticed that you could take bolters and chainswords, thanks for pointing that out! I'm not going to model it but I don't imagine I will play anyone petty enough to give me a hard time about it, and I am pretty strict with my own wysiwyg.

Hello, Trickstick. Nice collections, Macknight. I'm working on a command razorback now. Banner is from Wargames Foundry(PDF link) and they are Viking flags by Kevin Dallimore. I repainted it green and might add company number in one corner. Look into my beady, wonky skull eye sockets!

Trick: your welcome, it's easy to miss with the new format. Chem: nice freehand on that tank. The banner looks really smooth, and painting skulls is always a useful skill in the grimdark future

Thanks nutty. Yeah I need to get the skull in a circle down small enough to get onto a shoulder pad so I got some cheap primaris to test it out on one day. I'll sell them on later hopefully if they look good enough. Here is ...'Gladiator' The new usual suspects line up Can you spot which perpetrator ruined your lawn?

Gladiator is looking good. The transition between the bone coloured camo line and the greens is quite striking.
It is crazy looking at the scale creep between the 2nd ed and modern marine, and how rounded the lines on the librarian are in comparison to the 2nd ed marine.

The razorback is looking great, that camo pattern is really slick. How many models have you painted for this army?

Those are looking really good. Are they converted plastics? One thing that is letting them down (other than being Blood Bowl*) is that you haven't picked out the jewellery. You've got a really brutal conversion on that Blocker Nob that just begs you to look at the face and when you do he has a green nose ring. Similar story with the Thrower and his earing. Other than that it looks like a very mature version of your 40k colour scheme. At first I thought it was going to be an elite squad or the start of repainting alllll those Orks to this.
*I tried playing the computer game version and I couldn't even pay attention to it for 10 minutes.

they're the models straight out of the box set - no conversions! (I am using linemen models as blockers and blitzers though, hence why you thought it was a nob being used as a blocker; that model is the official blocker).
good point on the jewellery, I hadn't noticed that I'd missed those details! - Thanks!
As regarding doing 40k orks like this; there's far too many of the 40k horde for me to consider it!
oh and team name is imaginativly called "Waag'Un's Lads"

My delayed order from Hasslefree finally arrived. I was pretty glad to hear that it was just late getting sent out (due to the person having surgery) rather than someone stealing my package en route. I ended up with a bunch of modern models which will get split between my 40k cultists and Zombicide.

@ nutty I can't give you a round figure because so much is almost completed, so it doesn't count yet. @ tread - The Blood Bowl Orcs look great. They might need player numbers unless you did the numbers on the back. @ empty - Good cultist. Actually the board game for BB was very entertaining. It's not all about the ball - you can try to physically destroy the other team and there used to be advanced rules for all sorts of corruption, bribery and pitch invasions. I played a game in Games Day in the early 90s where there was a board and every tile was a 50mm square base. My Chaos Dwarves nearly killed all the elves but the last 2 alive scored against me, and it was announced on the speakers... I have a new camo scheme and am touching up my furniture.

Brother Streams looks good. I especially like him in the first pic. The camp looks so rich and textured in that one.

The Camo looks great, and the furniture is pretty neat. The couch is a bit small for marines though, it'd be pretty snug if two of them want to sit down at the same time.
