Well dang it.. I have 1850 pts of Tau to build and paint...
I told myself I wasn't going to start until I finished some AM units first. Those AM units seems to be like rabbits.. I get one done and 2 more seem to pop up and need to be finished.... argh.
I do lean towards 'gloss white' Tau with Green and/or Blue accents.. I know.. not militaristic in any means but a schema that interests me.
Never enough time to paint... I need to retire and spend more time painting...

Luckily this is a board game, so you can paint your army any colour you like and I hope to see your Gloss White scheme on some sexy Tau. |

nutty, too right! I’m loving working on my T’au! I find following all those straight lines very relaxing!
I’ve just finished building my Kroot Shaper and Darkstrider will hopefully get some done on them soon.

Yep was probably one of the worst models quality wise that I've ever assembled! Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the building side of the hobby? I decided to paint the Kroot Shaper first.  Kroot Shaper  Kroot Shaper Next up is Darkstrider then 10 more Kroot! |

The Kroot Chicken skin is quite pleasing to the eye, great work on him.
He looks like Kroot Robin Hood.
Was he Plastic or Fine Cast?

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the building side of the hobby? Blasphemy! Although to be fair aren't you mostly working with resin/finecast? Those are terrible. Have the plastic Tau kits been tolerable? I've only built Fire Warriors and a hammerhead. |

Major Downer, I find it fiddly and annoying! The Shaper was metal, he was actually a joy to build (he came in 2 parts!)
Reds, I’ve found the plastic Kroot go together well (most of the plastics do) I just don’t have much patience!!

The new Tau kits are really well made imho, when I built my riptide almost all the parts (except the gun and some fiddly bits) held together on their own whilst I was dry fitting it. The battlesuits and ghostkeel also fit really well, but gravity kept mine from staying upright and assembled. And all those kits allow for quite a bit of variation whilst posing.
The old kits however... most of those are a royal pain in the behind. The lines between the armor panels are really shallow so washing/inking was really difficult, and a single coat of unthinned paint could remove details. They also had moldlines in silly places, parts that only come together after excessive shaving, etc. Worst thing was that the actual mold for the old firewarriors was broken, so two of the types of legs always looked awful. And they kept selling the kit for years.
The new stuff is a dream to build and paint though.

I'm not saying there's anything particularly wrong with the models, it's I don't enjoy modelling as much as painting. After the annoyance of building Darkstrider I actually enjoyed the painting! I'm going to replicate the paint scheme used on him when I do the Pathfinders. I think the armour coloured panel on the gun helps to balance out the green of the fatigues. Really well done on his face.
I like the little details of blue and the Tau Orange, he’ll look cool along side your fire warriors.
Do Path finders increase your chances of hitting?
Are they free range Kroot or farmed?

Yeah pathfinders give you markerlights which give you bonuses to your shooting.
The Kroot are definitely battery farmed!! (I can’t afford T’au Waitrose!!!!)
