Hey Tb remember me?
Its Hawkrin! Yah! Nice to see you guys continued the painting compitition. Remember last year? Anyway I know I can't win but I was wondering if I could still enter, just for old times sake.
(Plus I need a reason to keep painting.) lol

Sure Hawkrin.. but considering the points spread happening right now.. you will need a lot of points in order to stay in longer than a week TB-- Soon as this showdown is over.. I am calling the next one.. which will finish on the 21st.. cool? I know its kinda cruel but we have dragged this out a bit.. so am going to see who can rise to the challenge and put up some mad points in short time.. Hawkrin.. lets see what you can do if you want to get in mate.. Minus same goes for you mate.. you would both have to beat out TB points wise to stay in the next showdown.. Are you up for the challenge?? Cheers Gris

OK So my mate has headed back home, I have headed back to work, and I see there has been no action with regards to this thread I am going to get some more work done on my spiders now that I have time once again.. also got a bit of work done on some terrain buildings as well.. been playing around with spray paint just need to do touch ups on them now and they should be good to go.. will see however and go from there though.. Guess we will see what happens with this contest soon enough.. I think the wind in its sails are finally losing power.. though it did have a good run.. almost 40 pages worth of replies.. a couple good battles in it.. a race for control after a huge lead.. good times.. Cheers for now, Gris

I'm burnt out. I've been assembling dudes and doing a bit of basing and priming but very little actual painting. I've laid down a base coat on half a dozen guys and assembled about 20, based about half that but I'm just burnt out on putting paint on models. at least I know that when I get back into it I can knock out 20 dudes in a day if I put my back into it. I still need to buy about a dozen more dudes and um... 4 rhinos and a razorback still before I've even got all the models for my 2500pt list (but fortunately I have wysiwyg proxies from my previous marine projects to stand in till then).

Good to hear.. I just got my Chaos codex today and after having a quick read I think I can make this new book work for me and my old style of playing still.. though I might end up redoing the entire army color... again... but if I do then this time its going to be black.. black.. and more black.. so if it gets a facelift anytime soon I dont have to freak out about losing so much of my abilities or playstyle as before..
So then is it safe to assume then TB that when this showdown is over, and I call the next one that we are going to have an end to this competition? And probably a start on the next one? If so do you want help with regards to judging the painting and such this time around? I would be interested in that if available and such.. and sitting out the actual painting portion..
Cheers Gris

well, by the time the next paintoff is done, it's possible it might be '08, so yeah. I will start organizing another paintoff shortly here however. I know some of you are eager for it to get underway, but I'd really like a chance to shrug off my painting burnout before getting into another paintoff.

Sounds good to me. But I am getting a really bad itch. BTW. I am wondering if I could get points for taking... this and turning it into this. It requires: 1. Take off the arms 2. Greenstuff a trenchcoat 3. Cut a slit in the lower part of the trenchcoat 4. Paint black, red and a gloss varnish. Optional: 1. Greenstuff a commissar cap 2. Paint black, red and a gloss varnish. Painting as well as conversion work is required for completion. Please let me know before the contest starts. Cheers! ...hmm I like that signoff I think I shall use it from now on.

Tboy you can't do that to me. If I have to wait that long before I can touch my Chaos stuff (I'm still waiting for... thank you DHL...) I'll go crazy first...

That would probably be best.. since that will take a lot of time as it is.. same with any of the other conversion ides that you had for the army as well.. Just get all the prep work completed prior to getting the actual models painted.. Will be interesting to see what you can turn out here Knight in the next round.. same with TB and MInus.. this could heat up to be one heck of a competition again Cheers Gris

That will take loads of time. Filing down all the Imperial Eagles, cutting of some parts of the face, modelling the masks. I also have to order some Forgeworld Chaos Renegade sets from Forgeworld for my Vets and my HQ troopers. And then I still have to assemble all the CSMs and I have to convert them a bit as well (combat knives as bayonets on the boltguns, tormented faces on one of my lords shoulder pad, leather armour and rivited armour on some of the normal CSMs that will be devoted to Slaanesh, etc.
That's a good amount of work to do for me... Oh and I shouldn't forget that I still have to convert some of my Catachans into Necromunda ganger...

if you guys are eager for action, feel free to start building up 'reserve points' by completing models early - you won't be able to turn them in till the competition starts and you'll still be limited to a 10pt/day gain but at least you'll have stuff done to cushion you when you need to make a showdown. with that being said, I'll start a thread to begin registering people for the next paintoff (get out your armies and cameras, it's time to take entry pics!
by the way, gris, you need to post a final pic so I can verify you've painted all the models you've claimed points for. just a shot that shows everything from a distance is all I need (little arrows with labels pointing to what got paint on it would be nice if it is from enough of a distance that identification might be difficult).
thanks bud

Ok i will get that shot done this weekend then.. will go through the pages and pages of this thread to verify which ones i did this time around versus last time around as well..
Also thinking about starting a paintoff blog as well.. showing just the final shots updated on the first page.. maybe we can make a section for this? Where everyone entering can start their own paintoff blog.. people can make comments on them, and we can show our WIPs and such, but on the front page show what we start with and add photos of what we have completed over time as well.. might be an idea.. and motivation to get stuff finished as well..
Cheers Gris

a paintoff blog sounds pretty cool - kinda like a journal of painted mini shots sounds like. I dig it. as far as a section dedicated just to paintoff blogs/pic journals, that's in woz's hands but we've got a ton of subforums and sections on this forum already. I can see the point in having it, but I'd say lets get a bunch of active pic journals going first then worry about making things look neat by filing them all in a subforum once we've got the activity going.
