I am amazed at the level of scenery. It makes it look really alive.

Wow, thank you again. I don't think I've ever had such a nice response to a model - it's honestly just the lighting hiding all my mistakes or something, it won't look as good in person In terms of the scenery, I just hacked away at one of the GW city of death kits and made some mini posters with the help of a few board members! The poster is actually a mini evacuation notice, but I kinda blurred it up a bit when I glued it on. If anyone's interested, you should be heading for the Marshall Militiary Base, off Marriot Way in Pinepoint. Go! The orks are coming! @happyorange - thanks for the tips! I'm dreading using this stuff, I've heard so many horror stories - nothing like a frosted baneblade to scare the crap out of you, right? Also, CONGRATS ON MAKING WARMASTER!, uhhh... sir. Pardon my impudence

Thanks again! Seriously, you guys are spoiling me now! I've got a bike or two lined up to paint, but at the mo I'm restructuring a couple of lists and just want to make sure they're going to be in the 1000pt one so I know to paint them first IN FACT, you could really help me out if you have a sec by having a mosey at this list here. Y'know, only if you want to

Don't worry too much about the seal, just don't go trying it out on your best model first! ;D

I would like to say the seal needs a day with a solid 16 hours of sunlight to work right, but I don't use the stuff...

tankshock - thanks so much, glad you like it ;D Cheers for the tips on the seal guys! And ER - I know a guy near me who has a nidzilla list - would the snipers not be really useful for popping monstrous creatures?

Ok, it's gone half 4, i'm knackered after nightshift, and i've run out of goddamn coca cola, but i've still finished up another remnant. Dedication to the board, right there This here is Freimann, recruited by Laughingman. He was originally a practice at speed painting, but ended up taking just as long and being worse quality. What can you do? Standard lighting problems, it's 5am. What do you think? And this one I included because I love the look on his face. The worst part of being a vet must be knowing what you're up against! C&C much appreciated, as ever.

Looking good. I can see a few things I could comment on, but it depends how harsh you want me to be

Thanks guys! And ReWolf, be as harsh as you can, I need to improve! BUT - those aren't mould lines, he just presses his uniform wrong so the creases are on the sides I actually had a bash using an airbrush to paint the bleached bone on this guy, but after the batch I did, I don't think I'll do it again - fills too many details

Well, in fairness to snipers, I was once witness to a big nasty carnifex being completely shot to death turn one by SM scouts. There was almost 20 of them, though. And I would have given the faster, closer 'nid things higher target priority...
So, four squads or so of BS3 snipers to a single enemy MC, or maybe three of BS4 snipers. Plus, IG have so many better ways of pasting 'nids...
I do think snipers are cool, though. I have a lot of SM snipers... But have I used them much since 5th? No.
Edit: It really depends on how he moves his army, and how well you roll. If you get lots of sixes, then snipers might work for you.

Thanks guys! And ReWolf, be as harsh as you can, I need to improve! BUT - those aren't mould lines, he just presses his uniform wrong so the creases are on the sides Okay then 1) He irons his shoes?! (Mould lines... ) 2) The right shoulderpad, two things: 2.1) Specifically the red symbol could do with another layer (you can see the line beneath it) 2.2) There's some blob thing on it. At the tip of the red arrow. Probably a small lump of paint but it really stuck out for me. 3) Brown of the shoes could do with more layers of brown. As it is it looks a bit blotchy, 'cos the undercoat shows through a bit. 4) The head. As it is now you can see that the head is separate (The neck turns inward before it meets the body) I would advise next time you drill a bit of a hole into where the neck goes so the head fits a bit better with the body. 5) Highlighting. Some highlights on the dark brown would make a lot of difference. 6) You can see where you've swashed and it's pooled in the wrong place, like on his left thigh/knee. Try fewer, thinner washes instead; takes longer but you'll get a better effect. Just make sure you [lightly] wash evrything you need, or the bits you've left will stand out (Although in theory it shouldn't matter as you're doing thinner washes). Summary: More layers, more lighter washing, drill neckhole out, highlight, mould lines. But tbh it's pretty damn good. Love the backpack.

Thanks so much ReWolf, I really appreciate the criticism - gives me something to work with! Not to make excuses (though I totally am), but I blame some of it on being kinda rushed with this one, and some on attempting to speed paint (and failing miserably!). The lump on his shoulder is actually a defect in the resin - I ought to have sorted it out, but in typical form, I didn't notice til after I'd started painting the damn thing I will bear the neck thing in mind, as that's something I haven't thought of before, and I'll take the advice on layers and washes to heart too. I'll see if I can improve before I get my next vet up. @er - You're definitely right, and you definitely have one hell of a lot more experience in the field than I do Still, snipers hold a special place in the spot where my heart used to be, and they really fit my fluff, so I might keep them in anyhoo - I play more for the fluff experience than to win anyway ;D Cheers for the tips though, and I'll bear it in mind if I ever try to write a properly competitive list!

You have no heart? Or you've just misplaced it?
In any case: *Snipes Scarper in the 'heart area,' because he'll be fine, and it'll give him the excuse to not do any school or work, and get him in the painting chair.*

This is Joseph, recruited by Redcuffs. I'm pretty pleased with the pose, but my camera died before I could get pictures with decent lighting. Sorry! Just think of these as... atmospheric? Anyway, as always, would love to hear your views! p.s. mouldlines! The next batch of three or so will have them too cause i sprayed the things without removing em properly. My bad!

That was a long couple of minutes...
And I'm still offended by Windows Vista in the background. The mini looks nice, though. Your eyes have improved a lot, and you are very good at basing.

Thanks so much, both of you! I feel like my basing is slowly improving, and I'm trying out different techniques all the time. Nothing special though - I just feel like bases give a model some more character And Req - the vista was the reason behind the slow frigging update. Computer's running at the slowest rate imaginable cause my motherboard has basically (I've been informed) melted. I'm getting a new desktop as soon as Dell get their act together, then it'll be up to crazy speeds and full attendence on the board again ;D

Joseph looks great mate !!! It doesn't look much like the guy I know but then it really does at the same time, you know, the pose and attitude and everything. Even the facial expresion.
He looks like he's just cooked up a mob of Orks and is having a "Condor Moment" before moving onto his next target. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a hip flask secreted away somewhere.
Beautiful bases again. Damned Good.
