Yup, though it's his mundane knowledge of the "big picture" and logistical skill that deliver the +1 rather than the "magic" angle.

Well I got the "Astropath" finished before I started painting skinny Mantic elves. Which means I then needed something else to bring on from reserve to better use his talents. Plus I was bored waiting to save up for an Airbrush and wanted to have at least one vehicle in the force, so I set to on a Penal Legion sentinel to add some fire support to the scum of the galaxy. Had to ding it up a bit to add character and an "Auto Shut Down Mast" to the engine in case the pilot decides to turn on his betters in a feeble attempt to escape his deserved fate. Craptacular flash rubbish yet again, now we're into the winter I find I'm hardly ever home during the daylight hours. I did get to try out some weathering powders and a touch of oil paint around the joints and rivets, the powders particularly were rather fun to use. BobulusA belated reply, but my project was a Stormtrooper Sgt in the garb of an Imperial Navy Security Team, it was an entry for a painting competition in "The Other place" and I didn't want it to seem like I was trying to ship in votes for that compo by posting it here too. Managed to scrape a win anyway. That project was of course also related to the Hellgun prototype I was putting about, unfortunately I've since found that most Tau Legs don't match up with most Catachan feet and I don't have enough spare to waste in fruitless experiments so the rest of the squad have been hurled onto the back burner. As for next project, it may be another Sentinel or it might end up being another infantry squad for my second platoon. Laters.

Maybe do a "command" sentinel, one that is controlled by a warden?

Fantastic my friend! The Stormtrooper is no doubt a win. I was wondering where have you been. I've also used the weathering powders on my tank and they were like my girlfriends makeup (she uses it) ;D , the makeup of course.
If you managed to save for an airbrush, then you'll became a happy fella. My painting became a really fun part. Yesterday, I've airbrushed the uniforms of a 20 man squad in less than a half hour.
Thumbs up for the great painting.
P.s. If you have time to check, I've made a tank.

Thanks chaps, another Sentinel is under way, I'm still leaving the weapon choice for the last minute, but I'm erring towards a second Autocannon (it looks coolest anyway). Don't think it'll be a Custodian though, otherwise I'll have one Custodian playing nursemaid to a lone prisoner, and it'll look even weirder if I field them in separate squadrons. Not sure what I'd do with Enforcers 3ggh3ad. I fear I now have enough disparate elements in this army (4 now I think). Plus they're metal models, and I refuse to use metal in this army.

I don't normally like lots of rust on metals (unless it's Nurgle or Orks) but this fits your theme well.
I love the idea of a Naval Security team too. A great concept and a great model. Oddly, my favorite part of the model is the grenades. You nailed the casing color and those stripes aren't easy to do.

Up from the depths, six foot four high, postin' figures, his face in a pie. Finally an update, have been doing a steady amount of work on this project and have now completed a second sentinel, another infantry squad and a new command section to complete platoon number 2. This has started to deliver consistently on the battlefield, there is a lot to be said for dumping eighty figures on the table. Pictures of the painted stuff to come in the next few days, (its finally daylight when I get back from work). In the meantime here's a plastic Primaris Psyker to be going on with.

Well, dashed off the Primaris Psyker's paint job in time for a game Wednesday with the following results: Went with some greys mixed into his skin tone fo a slightly more sickly look. Somewhat worried his staff's too gaudy, but doesn't look to bad in the slightly muted light I took the photos in it seems. Next up a finished platoon command squad. Actually the Burny fellas are from my original veterans squad, they have now been replaced with the more conventional three meltagunners. Plus the sergeant of my most recent squad. Didn't bother with a squad shot as they're identical to the previous one and I've mixed them all up now so they could actually end up -being- the last squad I showed if I pick out the wrong ones. Finally my next project. More Fleet security officers as counts as Stormtroopers. Turns out the rank and file are harder even to make than the first guy was. Plus I've somehow used all my goggled heads already, even though I -haven't- used all my heads already, but they've all gone regardless. Off to scour bits sites I go to look for more. More to come when I get him painted, plus I once again failed to take photos of Sentinel number 2 this evening. Will remedy that oversight too.

Aaand another week delivers a whole 1 more figure built. Still 2 to go and they may yet prove to be the hardest two. Depends how easy it is to carve the stock away from a Cadian arm and have it not look like I've done it...

The Primaris is awesome. The paint job really brings it all home for the psyker. Lots of character (ie: psi-reactive shaft on his staff. )
Are you happy with how he came out?

Thanks chaps, found I -still- don't have enough bits for the last of the Stormtroopers. But have dodged the need to carve away lasgun stocks, by using Grenade launcher arms and rotating them at the shoulder so they're across the body (assuming I can get a left arm to match up of course... Are you happy with how he came out? Reasonably, The varnish acted up a bit on the metallics, which has made the copper bits on the staff look rather subdued, it does enhance the verdigris though, so it might have come out for the best, The spike at the bottom of the staff was so bad that I re-painted it immediately. Have since found an Empire Flaggelant scroll which would have looked nicer on the belt that the compromise I made with the "Jade Skull". He'll do though.

It's a nightmare doing it 1974, you're better off out of it. Only two sets of legs are in any way compatible, and even the ones there are need serious carving and filling to fit. Wouldn't want to have to do more than five of the beggers. Morat would like to point out that yesterday he bought the parts for an 8 man squad. The reader is invited to speculate as to why he is such a damned fool.
