Another one down and I'm now committed to my special weapon folly in the form of a flamer. Just one more to build (oh and this one to clean up) and I can get to painting them. Blasted shame that this set of legs leaves them so hunched over, but then carrying a full backpack and a gun that size, I think I'd develop curvature of the spine. They breed 'em strong in that there Progenium.

Where are the heads from? I don't recognize them...

They're the standard "goggled" one from the Heavy Weapons teams or the sentinel kit with the mask from the command squad added. I have no idea what they were trying to achieve with the mask and "chest unit" the unit doesn't actually fit on a Cadian's chest, rendering it completely useless. At least the thing found a use on my hellguns.
The mask doesn't fit that particular head either. I have to carve off the entire lower half of the face to get a snug fit.

It's a nightmare doing it 1974, you're better off out of it. Only two sets of legs are in any way compatible, and even the ones there are need serious carving and filling to fit. Wouldn't want to have to do more than five of the beggers. Morat would like to point out that yesterday he bought the parts for an 8 man squad. The reader is invited to speculate as to why he is such a damned fool. Heh. That just makes the conversions that you've done even more epic, Moarat!

Thanks chaps. Welp, that's that then, squad built, now the probably slower still process of painting the little beggars. Found on the last guy (for now) that there's another set of Catachan feet that'll fit on the set of Tau legs I've used most of. Creates a more upright pose.

Thanks once again chaps. I use powder paint as weathering powders empirespy. Costs a great deal less. One now painted and another well under way. Flash photo makes the paintjob look terrible as usual. Should be able to get a proper job done at the weekend.

I think it looks fine... what colour did you use for highlighting on the black parts?

"Hard black" areas get highlighted with fenris grey, plus a touch of white. "Soft black" bits (like boots and gloves) are highlighted with dheneb stone.

Time to put this bit of the project to bed and get back to the hideous world of charandon granite. I've been bullied into painting a lascannon heavy weapons squad. Better pictures of this and indeed other recent projects this weekend, provided it doesn't tip it down and force me indoors.

Thanks once more fellas,, gave them their first run out last night in a 2400 points doubles game. Up against Bloot Angles and Smurfs so they were as hopeless as expected really, bagging a paltry three kills before going all chopped up by the chaps they'd wronged. 19 hits off the flamers turned into two kills so they should have done better.
Power blob squad with commissar was squad of the match once again, dropping 5 terminators in 3 rounds of hand to hand then destoying a dreadnought with melta bombs and finally a stormraven gunship in the last turn (it's explosion did kill them though). What more could you ask for?

Nothing new, as I've gotten myself re-sidetracked with anorexic elves from Mantic, but I did manage to get a better picture of the stormies done. Should have a full army shot up at some point. THink this is now the fith time I've put off paintiing a heavy weapons squad... And to prove I'm not just sitting with my feet up eating pies:
