No, they are codex. Explain to me how Dark Angels aren't just green Ultramarines in robes, and I will award you a cookie and a place on the Mod shortlist, if the Inquisition or the forum ghosts ever get me. I shall simply direct this to this thread. That is all I will say. www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220748&page=24

Basically, though, the Marines have 6 or 7 codexes all told - Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Black Templars, Space Marines (vanilla), Space Wolves and Grey Knights from the D/H codex.
Guard have only one. OK you can make an Arbites army or stormtroopers in rhinos if you mess around with the =I= codexes. FW make some alternate lists, but the new IG codex has made the expensive.
We need LatD codex. Why? Marines represent 0.0001% of the population of the 40k universe, while GEQs are more like 27.6379% of the universe. Don't even ask how I figured those stats out, but it's the truth, and you know it.

He's failed. For a start, a few organisational differences do not warrant their own codex, no matter what DA players say. Black Templars get a codex because they're entire chapter structure is purely non-codex, their scouts are part of tac squads, their entire ethos is that of one vast, great crusade/rampage through space. In essence, they're sufficently unique. Blood Angels have Death Company. Space Wolves, well, they're so non-codex that it would be insulting to not give them their own 'dex. A DA codex is just going to be a C:SM copy-paste job, with a few extra characters and one or two pieces of wargear put in. In essence, my point still stands.

Well, we all know that it's going to happen regardless of what we think or say. DA are marines, and they (will) have cool toys. Maybe they won't get stolen for a while this time...

Ezekiel really is a pretty badass librarian model... I use the figure for my vanilla chapter.

[ Blood Angels have Death Company. I would argue that Blood angels are almost as codex as the Dark Angels. Death company is not that big of a deviation really. Assualt marines as troops is a new invention. Previously the Angels never had it.

Good point. So, really, GW should have just left them as they were. Stick the Baal Predator and the Furisio into Codex: SM, and put out a PDF with the characters and Death Company, and stop wasting time on stupid projects.

I can't say I agree entirely. But it would be nice to have some new necron stuff, some new DE stuff, some new AS stuff, some new... anything but marines and orks or tyranid stuff...

Even if they did a new race that would be really mad. Something totally alien and bizarre with loads of monstrous psyker slug man-eating creatures.

What kind of self respecting creature would eat a psyker slug man?

I thought it was the psyker slug man doing the eating?
Never mind. A LatD codex would be nice, but it's far easier just using regular Guard for a Traitor force. Use a Psyker to lead them and you've got instant "Magister". Commissars and Priests can double for Zealots and demagogues in a ruinous powers cult. Throws me some interesting conversion ideas as well...

It's not the same as mutants galore. Anyway... NEW RUMOUR Legion of the Damned - new models out in January. SMists rejoice!

So it'll be like the Black Templar upgrade sprue but with more skulls? And how can 'the legion of the damned' by anything but Chaos? These naming conventions confuse me...

It might not be plastic. A lot of Collector's stuff is still metal. Who knows? In the past the Legion were always metal.
You're thinking 'Lost and the Damned' which is chaos, not 'Legion of..' who are ghost-like Firehawk spectres with an amazing 3+ invulnerable save.

Still the name hardly evokes 'loyal warriors of the Imperium...'

But if you look closely all Marines are covered in skull motifs. Even old Marneus wears skull-pattern underpants...I just know this. Don't even ask, OK?

The human skull is the universal symbol of humanity...and a fairly accurate portrait of the Emperor Himself I might add...at least more accurate than most.
Praise Him!

Skulls are honor marks given to marines. Bearing the face of the Emperor on your armor is kick-ass, man...

I think it was Blood Angels, then Black Templars, then Dark Angels. Followed by Black Dragons, Iron Hands, Steel Testacles, Complete Bastards, Mantis Warriors, Loyal Red Corsairs (leave us alone!), Chaos Space Marines, Legion Chaos Space Marines, WE ARE LEGION, McMarines, We Love Marines, More Marines, Yet More Marines, Praetors of Orpheus, Guardians of the Virgin Mary .... and Dark Eldar, Tau and Necrons by 2025.
