I really havent used anything but stormtroopers so I can't say what I like the best at this point hardened vets sound pretty cool though; it's just the 5+ armor that makes me worry, but some cover and cameleoline or carapace armor and they'd rock it hard.

Storm troopers because of versatility, and the models look so freaking cool, although hardened vets are a very close 2nd.

ratlings for me... but it came close w/ the independant commissar. ratlings are prob the most under appricated models in the game. (well one of anyways) having 5 snipers for 55pts is *great value for money *can kill high toughness opps *can pin *have +1 cover save
what more is there to say!

Hardened Vets are my fave! theres something cool about the thought of some troops acually living through a few battles, to become tough , one-eyed, battle hardened mf's!

Hate to go with the crowd but Woz, I agree 100%. Two deepstriking stormtrooper squads with meltaguns and bombs if I can be bothered just makes me drool.

I like plasma/melta for my deepstrikers personally but I have a squad that's 2x melta & a plasma pistol for variety

Hardened Veterans are the best, despite the lack of carapace armour and hellguns. One word, and one word only, conversions. With hardened veterans you can use any figures you want and they'll look good (almost) every time. I love to model guys with two swords or gigantic meat hooks. Hardended Veterans are the one unit I use, besides my command squads ofcourse, to flesh out the background and details of my army (that, and none of them have to look alike). I have Storm Troopers, and I would give 'em all away for a box of Catachans and some close combat weapon sprues.

I am sure this is against the "fluff" but I choose Orgyns because I attach Gaunt to a squad of 10 and they just rumble and tumble through most things. The Orgyns love to assult the side armor of vehicles with gaunt they get 4 attacks (2 base, 1 assult, 1 gaunt) with a squad of 10 how can you go wrong! Also they chew through most squads. 30 wounds in a squad is nice!

I also like ratlings because I take 2 squads of 6 and place them on oppsite side of the board in cover with shooting lanes. They take some camoline and they can get 2+ saves most of the time!!!

hey forkit2you.. hate to break the bad news to you but.. camo can only be used on guard infantry.. which i think means it can be taken on any guard infantry unit.. aka the normal platoon and the conscripts.. also you cant take more than 1 squad of ratings either.. unless you know something that the rest of us dont, cause i would love to have a 2+ invul on my ratlings

hehe conscripts arent even guard infantry. just stuff like command platoons, heavy weapon platoons, infantry platoons..stuff like that is 'guard infantry.'

i was just going with the things that said infantry but yeah.. those too.. but ratlings would not count in that group.. as much as it would be cool to see ratlings with 2+ invul saves in hard cover

I am under the impression that conscripts are infantry...in the codex it says under troops - infantry platoon and conscript infantry platoon. Aren't they just depleated squads that have merged?
I can''t see why they wouldn't be classed as infantry, unless i have missed something?
