my storm troopers have been deepstriking into impassable terrain and their targets so often that I'm thinking that infiltrating is the way to go. It's getting hard to justify spending points on units that aren't even making it onto the battlefield

Hobbits. Love em. Squad of 5 for 55 points, and the best way I've found of taking out a Wraith Lord.

Hardened vets forever. 1. Only elite choice that dosen't use any doctrines 2. can give 'em any doctrinal upgrades aside from sharpshooters 3. Free inflitrate! 4. More nasty weaponry for points than any other guard unit. Glorious euphoria is my must.

must agree with thunder, hardened vets are the best elites. If you want stormies, take em as troops (granted they cant deep strike).

My ogryns are always fun to play with. they don't do anything but its nice to tie up non-powerfist wielding assault marines and watch them try and carve through 30 wounds at leadership 9.

Tech priest engineers is quite beutiful and good! Yep but theres a problem with his points. As he's not an officer he can only have 50pts of wargear and Servitors are wargear. So in effect you can only have one gun servitor as the cheapest is 30pts. . Anyway thats the way all the rule lawyers seem to be reading it. If I read the Codex correctly, Servitors do NOT count towards the Enginseer's total for Armoury points.

I am concidering getting some tech priests for my army. Is it worth it?
I'll probably use the Greandier doctrine so that I can keep the Strom troopers I have.

Grenadiers are cool as line infantry. they really annoy assault units by charging them and holding them up for 1-2 turns, the vet. killing a few of them and laughing like a jackal as the repositioned rapidfire volley knocks them down.

Vets for the win.
Think about it. Deep Striking / Infiltating Tank Hunters, rolling all up on the back of the tanks -Bang!!- No more rear armour.
Or 3 Squads of Anti-Infantry, Deep Strike / Infiltrrate in -Dakka Dakka Dakka- Half them squads are ded plz!!

Your right there Azalar. Or you can stick them ahead of the main force with shotguns/ laspistol ccw and meltaguns, a heavy weapon in area terrain and force the enemy to disembark before your lines.

I don't know, rattling snipers I hear could kill a Necron special character with some luck, but this is coming from the same guy how is falling in love with storm troopers with Melta guns.
so Storm Troopers Get my vote
