I'll take vets over stormies any day. This is because in an Apocs game 1 vet with a meltagun made a chaos titan go critical and with one shot killed 2000 points with an 18 pt model.

The renegade ogryns are a new release from that master of Overpriced Shiny Things That You Don't Need But Desire Anyway, Forgeworld. As I am informed by the grapevine, they are similar in charecteristics to regular ogryns but possess no ranged firepower, instead having 'feel no pain' and D6 attacks, making them possible one of the best models FW have ever made. And they look damned cool. www.forgeworld.co.uk/acatalog/CHAOS_RENEGADES.html

Tech priest engineers is quite beutiful and good! Yep but theres a problem with his points. As he's not an officer he can only have 50pts of wargear and Servitors are wargear. So in effect you can only have one gun servitor as the cheapest is 30pts. . Anyway thats the way all the rule lawyers seem to be reading it. yer, servitors do count as war gear, but you can have two gun servitors if you take both with HB. tough if you are going to use an enginseer to fix tanks, then surely you would take the technical servitors! in which case you could take all four. you would then make the repair roll more or less all the time, and have in effect four extra wounds on your enginseers.

You need an option for other. I play Death Korps and my fav is a toss up between DK Grenadiers or Heavy Mortar Battery with 3 mortars. Even though DK Grenadiers cant infiltrate of deepstrike, they make up for it with 2 Flamers, a Heavy Flamer AND 2 Demo Charges.

that's alotta 'burninatin' the countryside,' there angelus!
death korps has some amazing options with all the extra artillery they pack. having played against a death korps-eque army, I can tell you, as a standard guard player, it's hell to have to march into the guns of a massed artillery company.
I like the death korps grenadiers too - so much flame AND demo charges. awesome. kinda makes the games workshop imperial guard seem bland, lackluster, and just underpowered in comparison, however.

Under Techpriest Enginseers Options it clearly states that Servitors do not count towards the Enginseer Wargear limit... I'd still take Hardened Vets though. I have an EngieBengie for fluff reasons, but will buy him some servants and bring him on when I graduate to Apolcalypse and buy my baneblade squadron (so in about 10 years then ... yeah well, life keeps getting in the way...)

Sorry Woz mate, read your codex. Under Techpriest Enginseers Options it clearly states that Servitors do not count towards the Enginseer Wargear limit... It says that in the New reprinted IG codex but in the original 4th ed IG codex they came as wargear and the IG errata said that they count towards his wargear limit. Seems GW reprinted the codex and changed some things but didn't bother to tell anyone.

I swallow my condescending tongue and bow to your mighty research... Good find Woz, here we are all falling about over a GW typo - good grief. Still wouldn't take the overpriced mechanics anyway. My priorities fall on Vet's, Stormies, Ratlings. I'd rather take Sentinels than Orgryns as the models cost too much for their T4. Why don't GW bring out an orgryn plastic boxset - they'd sell loads!

Extra Commissars are the only true option to any loyal commander!
Any officer who shirks the oppourtunity to add futher of these glorious beacons of the Emperor's Light should be summarily tried, shot and have their corpse electrocuted by means of humiliatingly-placed electrodes, followed by an immediate reduction in pay.

I like the way you think! Commissars are essential for a decent imperial army of any sort, they bind the men together, one way or a bolter.

hardened vets all the way. i play with the carapace doctrine and so the grendier armour save doesnt make 2 much difference. A small squad of 6 armed with melta's is always good.
