Sons of SekHi!I started painting some weeks ago, but haven’t done much because of summer vacation. Now everything is back to normal and I will be starting to paint for real now. =I=munda really got me inspired and I will start playing that if possible. I have chosen to create this blog to motivate myself to continue on the painting, getting feedback, constructive criticism and general support to continue paining. A bit about myself: I’m 22 years old, live with my dog in Copenhagen Denmark. I am a vegan for 4 years now and see myself as anarchist/non-political. Also am I a student and live off that, so don’t have so many money to support my hobby at this moment. What you will see from me: Sons of Sek more will come later. Bear in mind I only just begun. Here are some images: I won’t write much here unless people encourage me to it.

Hi there Gerner.. Først ville jeg lige sige velkommen til IGMB.. Sounds good with a "blog" for you to keep being motivated, will you be painting to play or will you be playing to paint..? On the painting side: You might wanna consider getting some washes (thinned down paints) and you also might wanna think about the "digi-camo" you have going.. It tends to look a bit messy if you have multiple units on the board.. Other than that it looks pretty solid..

Thanks krasimirova. Well if I had the money I would buy the figures I want, convert them and pay some one to paint them. But fortunately I don't so I get the enjoy of painting them myself. I am definitely painting them so I can play. I own the Badab Black Wash, that I already love. I am considering getting some army dipper (it looks so easy). As I already told I'm new, and don't know much about painting, converting or the social aspect of the game yet. About the camou: It looks messy, and I'm desperately trying to get it right, practise makes perfect. I hope I can achieve my models to actual blend into the gaming board and make my opponent forget them (so the camouflage actual could work). Thanks for the heads-up on the underhive, maybe I should go socializing.

I had a Marbo conversion which I had made so that he was hiding in a bushy thingy/tree.. It was a ongoing joke that I forgot him more than my opponent did.. Just think about having to paint 60+ guardsmen in Digi camo, that is gonna take alot of time..

Wash works just as well as army dipper, if not better in my opinion as theres no shiny finish Good camo works by breaking up outlines, simply pick a few colours that are similar to the board you play on and in theory they should be hard to find i quite often end up with guardsmen in my terrain box as they're all rocking urban camo... Your minis are a lot better than my first efforts, well done! And welcome to the mad mad world of IGMB ;D

Time is the only thing I got, but I have thought of getting a got airbrush to try to make the camo with, but don't know if it would work. Haha, well it is Marbo. Maybe I should just makes bushes with rifles poking out?

But yea, so far its just washes. I currently haven't played yet and have not seen any of the gameboards, so I will just continue with the more fluff based. I hope to achieve some multi cam on some of them. But so far I'm just testing. And thanks for the Welcome. Which of my painted figure do you like best?

My opinion...is to paint the models gear, web gear, holsters, belts, boots.. ect a different color(s). This in turn would break up the digi pattern which would bring more definition yo the model. Second....you need to teach me how you did that pattern, with pictures!

So I finished this guy. Right now I'm just painting for learning. But I guess he could be a veteran sergeant with a power weapon. Pretty happy with how he turned out, I can definitely see progression. I was thinking about giving him some highlights with elf flesh, but I am afraid of ruining him. I also still need to paint the base edge again. Comment and Critics welcome. Front: Side: Back: 0311-Infantryman: I will make a short tutorial on the next fellow I paint. Do you have any pictures of your small guys that I can see?

Fiiiiinally I'm done with this guy. He gave me such a headache, and I still just want to through him into a jar of acetone. The other miniatures I have painted felt like a step forward, this guy just felt like failure. I think he is ugly. Well, learning by doing. I am getting pretty tired of the SM scouts and think I am going to paint some of random metal minis for a change. I hope that I soon can buy some cadians and try something with them. Jackal: I tried to take some pictures, but don't think they will be any help. Instead I will give you this link and try to explain my steps on the camo. forum.specialopspaintball.com/index.php?showtopic=149082^ Simplify this and it should work out. My technique: (this is easiest done if the mini is not assembled) Step 1: First you spray paint your mini with whatever coat you use (black for me). Step 2:Then you choose your main/foundation colour and paint all the parts were you want the camo pattern. Don't be afraid to paint over other parts, you will touch up in the end. Step 3: Choose a second colour, this one will be the least seen. Make either tiger stripes, big Y's on the main colour. Step 4: Repeat step 3 with a second colour, this will be more seen than the previous. Step 5: If you want repeat step 3 with a third colour. Step 6: Paint the other part of the model as normal. Step 7: Use some dark (pref black) wash to fill the edges and to make some borders. Step 8: Give some highlights if you feel parts of it need it. Finish! Tips: Choose some light colours as the wash always will darken it. Try some different colours. Use a small brush to paint the camo pattern. Maybe a size bigger in the begging and jump down a brush size as you put your next pattern on.

Hey, the last guy looks really good!
Personally; I would find a scheme I liked and stick to it. Keep it fairly simple, but go to town on the details.
One day I'll post my first minis. They were actually awful. (Although I was about 8 at the time)...

Yea, I guess my age helps a bit.

So silence..? I have been playing too much DoW, and now I finally got two more painted. A missile launcher guy and a melee dude. Missile Launcher: Back: Melee: Back: I started doing the production line way of painting them. All five one colour at a time, but it drove me mad and I started painted them singly again. This may not be the quickest way, but it let me do them more justice. I'm ordering for around 90£ on wayland games in the end of the month and will get some proper tools. (I know the missile launcher scout have mould lines.) All comments and critics are more than welcome.

*Waking from his deep slumber* Days have drifted by and I have had my minds elsewhere (heresy I tell you!), but now I'm back to painting again. I got a order home from wayland games so I finally can start my Rzakata Legion! I have made a single guy so far. New Stuff: Rzakata Ranger (bad light): I can't decide if I should do highlights on him and if I should, then where. Comment & criticism is welcome. When I get the time I will update the first post, so keep an eye out.

Ahhh most excellent. I really like the rangers a lot. I say no highlighting to anything that has camoflauge. Maybe the leather parts on the belt. Maybe.

Hmmm, if you could be bothered I think highlights would look great, however I think that your 'test mini' looks great! Great to have you back!
