Welcome back! Stormies are looking great, the baldpatch confuses me a little.. but is well executed Thanks. Yeah, it might be because I was trying for a Buck Rodgers hair-do, but with a large bald patch on the back. There is another with a better bald patch but he needs some paint. Serve the Emperor, get a guaranteed full head of hair. God Emperor of Mankind, god of sweet hair. But in the grim darkness of the future, where humanities saviour has spent the last 10,000 years confined to the Golden Throne due to a bad hair day, their is only darkness, there is only bald. And here is some bare plastek bald, bald heretical Work -In - Progress Genestealer cult action, if it's to your liking, that is... I can't decide on a paint scheme. The two in front of the sentinel have been painted blue-ish but I don't like it. They look like postmen or Police Officers. Any suggestions for paint schemes would be welcome! The background for the army is basically just an idea from the Genestealer Cult codex; 'fighting the Emperor's wars', biding their time, growing in strength. They are The Cult of The Hydra and they have infiltrated far and wide, including heretical sects within the Inquisition, Radicals that help them and pretend to study, while actually inadvertently assisting the cult to grow in strength. Although the Inq agents think they are doing a good job of keeping Armz's crew at claw's length from anything and everything female, unless they can get access to the offspring for themselves. The warlord will be the Primus, General Armz. With him in the picture are the other 2 only unit leaders in the entire army, which will eventually be 1500 points on the dot. Neophyte squads don't need to have unit leaders, so you can take a whole squad of 10-20 with lasguns/ autoguns/ shotguns for example. The neophyte leader has a power maul and web pistol and styles himself as an Imperial guard sapper regiment colonel. Sappers/ miners are termed 'grubs' by other guard regiment, and I'm thinking 'posties' is a good handle for all the guard type variant. What drew me to this army were the cheapish Armoured Claw kits at £35 for 10 Cadians, a Chimera and the neophyte headswap and symbol sprues. The sentinel pilot has a Mad Robot head and it's the Sylvester Stallone one with a beret. There will be 2 more with Jason Statham and Bruce Willis heads. Because of the nature of the Cult formations, Willis and Statham are part of the Neophyte Cavalcade formation and they get to set up on turn 1 as per the Cult Ambush table rule. Stallone is just a Brood Brother so he sets up in reserve as normal sent, but the Cult formation rule gives them a +1 to reserves and the enemy a -1. Thinking about it guard could counter that using 2 Officers of the Fleet but then you'd get no benefit, just counter the cult rule :/ And if that isn't enough bare plastek then prepare for sensory o-o-o-overload because here is half of a Kronenburg (1665 points) of Adeptus Mechanicus. The tech priest dominus, Magos Frankenstein of the Biologis department, Alhex-Zandringham forge world, is in 2 parts; the weird servitor with all the components and a really old metal tech priest (one of the first models I bought when I was a wee nipper in the tail end of the 80s, and you can just about see the remnants of the old colour scheme of puce and red and white from before I stripped it all off with Dettol). A great thanks to treadiculous who supplied me with his spare parts for 10 skitarii vanguard conversion (also shown) and Magos Frankenstein's trusty servitor-kebab-construct B.O.B.

Well.. clearly male patern baldness is a genetic mutation that is not tolarated by the Imperium? And besides... surviving long enough to actually lose hair from natural causes is reason enough for a commissar to screen said guardsman; if he keeps surviving, he clearly isn't applying himself to his mission. On a semi-related note; I should probably post something here... painting more stuff is one of my new year's resolutions.

Hi all, had a good catch-up with a beer. I have been painting lots, just nothing of my own. I can't complain though as it has been Orks, and I have been paid to do it. Win-win! The first batch were great fun, and the dread ended up on the GW website Which I was pleased with, as it was only painted to a Good Tabletop Standard with some lazy airbrush OSL. Customer was pleased, so I now have a dakkajet, another dread, commandos and a wierdboy to do I'll put up pics when I've done them if I remember! Still been doing the odd bits on the Mechanicus, although nothing shockingly amazing as it has literally been a layer on fabric or a metals highlight or whatever when I have had a free hour. I hope you got lo0ads of cool prezzies from Satan Klawz for you to put into this thread

That sounds pretty good 3ff3ct. What colour scheme are they using, they're giving you the models that are already built, right? Are any of them sweet conversions or kitbashes? Ork, Orks, Orks, Orks! I worked on a few things the last couple of days, mostly just advancing projects that have been a bit stalled but I did finish this objective marker. And this Champion of Slaanesh. So he can go and live in my evil abandoned bordello, which is only partially painted, with his partially painted warband.

Can an abandoned bordello be evil? Isn't it just misunderstood?

It can be Lawful Evil with Chaotic Neutral tendencies.
It may be described as a bordello in the tourist brochures but bed and breakfast isn't included in the price. I'd say the pillows could have been softer and the planks across the window beams could have been spruced up. #beenwatchingtoomuchrealitytvhotelshows
Also Pink Horror is a well pigmented paint; is that what you used on the walls, Empty?

Yes. I was having trouble going from black spray to Emperor's Children, so I put Pink Horror over the top of it. If I was going to do it again I'd have started with Screamer Pink, which I didn't have at the time. I'll dump a watered down red or purple wash on it and re layer the pink, not sure if it will be Emps Children or Pink Horror, and maybe dry brush it with that dry pink.

Screamer Pink is more purple, like the old Warlock purple paint. I've used it on the GC shoulder-pads together with the new Thousand Sons blue and the Ahriman blue as a highlight. Really like the new blues as they are the blue end of turquoise and they make the fatigues look like mechanic/ worker overalls rather than Arbitrator dark blue, which is where the original Kantor blue was going. Kantor was a bit too gloss for fatigues it seemed.
The dark angel severed leg looks really disgusting, it's so realistic... You haven't been watching the Horror channel, have you?

A floating Squiggoth-Zeppelin would be cooler. You can cut the lines to the zeppelin and drop a squiggoth on enemy positions.
You could model a platoon of Ork kommandos rappelling down from lines on the zeppelin.

Maybe with some grots rappelling from the kommandos...?

Ahoy there my little chirumeks! I've just navigated the horrors of Photobucket to bring you news of the grav spider servitors. They were made with leftover kataphron destroyer bits, space marine tank turrets, an sm shoulder pad with the mechanicus symbol on it, part of the old imperial dozer blade base, clipper lighter central columns, marine rags, heavy bolter ammo, purestrain genestealer scything talons (blue becaue they were leftover from Lost Patrol), milliput dice cubes, paperclips, wire, milliput, an inline switch button, 60mm round bases, half an auspex and marine knives. Although it was mentally damaging making this stuff it was worth it as they fulfilled 3 important criteria; - cost nothing (saving me £35 in fact) - getting rid of more bits - they look like insanity on a stick The only regret is that they are slightly taller than the standard model, but what can you expect from the insane tech servitor surgery experiments of the infamous Magos Frankenstein? edit - This is the Neverending page of doom....
